membranes in the high frequency range. Its stiffness to weight ratio is unsurpassed and the internal sound velocity unrivalled. Diamond is also the best heat conductor known to man, an essential quality for loudspeaker membranes that must provide the best heatsink for the voice coil. The result is extremely high power handling and very low compression from heat. The sonic character of our diamond tweeters is different. You might expect a degree of harmonic distortion or the overly ‘brilliant’, ‘crystal-clear’ or ‘hard-as-diamond’ sound that other diamond tweeters often produce. But in fact, you get the opposite. With a carefully designed crossover, the diamonds simply disappear and only the music remains. The listening experience is like a live concert, as you hear the purity of the instruments with zero interference from the speaker drivers. It’s an incredible way to enjoy your favourite music, giving you more detail and more depth than ever before. Features - Unsurpassed stiffness to weight ratio - Extremely high material resonance frequency - Extreme heat conducting - High power handling and low compression Ceramic cones Coltrane Series, Heritage Series, Django Series and Mingus Quintet If not using diamond, the best material for cones is hard ceramic (also known as sapphire). It’s light, yet extremely rigid. Ours are produced using an electrochemical process perfected in the 1980s, as it produces ceramic with an excellent internal damping factor. It gives you everything the best speaker membrane should – minimal distortion, maximum clarity, so music can be enjoyed without any distractions. Features - Very high stiffness to weight ratio - Very high material resonance frequency - High internal damping factor CELL bass drivers Coltrane Supreme 2, Coltrane 3, Coltrane Tenor and Mingus Quintet The CELL bass driver units are made of aluminium sandwich honeycomb and have hidden surround, long excursion and extremely low distortion levels. CELL bass driver units gives a rich full bass performance with a powerful presentation. Carbon fibre laminate Coltrane Series We’ve investigated many types of material for loudspeaker cabinets, but years of research and testing has revealed that carbon fibre laminate is simply the best. It offers superb strength and rigidity which means the cabinet is extremely inert and resonance free in the whole frequency area. The end result gives you a cabinet as perfect as all the components within it. Features - Very stiff and rigid. - High internal damping factor. - Extreme resonance control. - Light weight. BDR Coltrane Series BDR’s unique technology combines military spec, aerospace grade carbon fibre with state-of-the-art compounds, creating products highly resistant to vibration and resonance. This offers exceptional isolation in order to extract the maximum performance possible from our loudspeakers. Features - Very stiff and rigid - High internal damping factor - Extreme resonance control Heritage, Django and Mingus cabinets These cabinets are made from specially selected medium density fibreboard that has been carefully veneered and lacquered. The lacquering is in 7 layers with polishing in between. The internal structure and bracing makes these cabinets very rigid and resonance free. And the shape of the cabinet is also carefully designed to take care of all the reflections from the drivers. The end product is extremely high quality, made with the same precision as our carbon fibre laminate cabinets. Features - Selected medium density fibre board for great stiffness and resonance control - Unique cabinet shape for low resonance and diffraction control - Optimum bracing for best possible resonance control MATE R I A LS Marten cones and pucks Heritage Series The pucks and cones are designed especially for our loudspeakers. The material is a high-tech engineering thermoplastic used in precision parts requiring high stiffness, low friction, excellent dimensional stability and resonance control. This is carefully selected and tested and offers perfect results in our products. Features - High stiffness - Excellent dimensional stability - Very good resonance control - High internal damping factor Marten Django XL bass-driver We found it very hard to combine the pure ceramic midrange with bass-drivers in another material. After much research and testing we found that an aluminium membrane (with a very thick and hard anodised surface) works exceptionally well with the pure ceramic midrange. It’s a superb material for pure bass-drivers. Features - Perfect integration with the pure ceramic mid - Aluminium membrane with thick and hard anodizing - Close to pure ceramic performance Marten Django L bass/mid-driver The Django L bass/mid driver needed a fresh approach when compared to the bass driver in Django XL, because it has a frequency range of up to 1800 Hz. We developed a very special membrane material made from aluminium with an extremely hard pure ceramic layer. This driver offers perfect piston behaviour in its whole frequency range. Features - Perfect integration with the pure ceramic tweeter - Aluminium membrane with pure ceramic layer - Very close to pure ceramic performance Marten Heritage and Django crossovers Features - Copper foil air core coils - Silver/gold capacitors - Supreme resistors - Jorma internal cabling Marten Coltrane crossovers Features - Copper foil air core coils - Silver/copper in oil/paper capacitors and Silver/gold capacitors - Supreme and resistors - Jorma internal cabling Marten Flöjelbergsgatan 18 SE-431 37 Mölndal Sweden Tel: +46 31 20 72 00 Fax: +46 31 20 72 70 [email protected] www.marten.se Made in Sweden
