INTRODUCTION The TKSTB14 is a full-featured HD DVB-T set-top box that adds HD digital TV reception to a TV that has HDMI connection. The unit can display OTT content, enabled via a wired connection to a computer network which has access to the Internet. All functions of the TKSTB14 may be controlled from the supplied remote control. A USB flash drive may be docked to the port on the back panel to enable instant or time-shift recording of your favourite programs. You can easily preview and play back the recordings with the built-in media player. The media player will also play your music, movie and photo files (compatible formats only).
PRELIMINARIES UNPACKING Carefully unpack the unit. If it is damaged, please return it to your nearest Tesco store for replacement. Remember to take your purchase receipt with you. Once the unit is unpacked, be sure to remove any protective plastic film from the case before use. This may be covering essential ventilation grilles which would cause a safety risk if left in place. Retain the User Handbook. If you pass the unit on to a third party make sure you pass on the handbook. We suggest you retain the packaging. If you dispose of it, do so having regard to any recycling regulations in your area. CONTENTS The carton should contain: • The TKSTB14 Set top box • Remote control • Operating Manual If any items are missing or damaged, contact your nearest TESCO store for a replacement. Have your receipt ready when you call. Retain the packaging. If you dispose of it, do so having regard to any recycling regulations in your area.

LOCATION The unit should be located close to your TV and within reach of a TV aerial feed. If you plan to use the Internet enabled features such as displaying OTT content, it will also be necessary to arrange a cabled connection from the unit to your computer network. Place the unit on dry stable surface away from heat and damp and where it is unlikely to fall or be knocked over.

CONNECTING TO A COMPUTER NETWORK NETWORK CONNECTION An RJ45 socket is provided on the rear panel of the unit to enable connection to the Internet via a computer network. This connection is not essential, but if you connect the unit to the Internet advanced features such as OTT access and software upgrade via the Internet will become available. The connection must be wired. There is no wireless networking built-in. To make this connection your home network will require an ‘always on’ connection to the Internet so you will need access to a spare port on the network modem/router. The illustration shows the connection arrangements found on a typical modem/router. • Connect a CAT5 Ethernet cable of suitable length (not supplied) to the NETWORK port on the back panel. • Connect the other end of the cable to a free port on your modem/router.

SETUP MENU > OPTION NETWORK CONFIGURATION Why change network settings?: If you have connected the unit to your Home Network and OTT content is accessible, then there is no reason to change any network settings from the factory default. In fact, it is highly likely that changing any network settings will stop the network connection from working. If your network connection is not working and you know that your network has been configured to require static IP addresses which have to be set manually, then follow the instructions in the next section.
Configuring manual IP settings: Do not attempt to change any of these settings unless you have experience with Home Network configuration. If you are in any doubt, consult an IT professional. Before attempting to enter manual network settings, you will need to know the following • A free IP address on your network. • A valid Subnet Mask number for your network. • The IP address of your network gateway. • Primary and secondary DNS settings for your network. If you have the above data • Open the ‘OPTION’ setup menu. • Step to the ‘Network Configuration’ option. The Wired Network menu appears. • Select the ‘Configuration’ option. You will now see the Network Configuration screen. The current setting will be displayed. This will either be ‘DHCP’ for automatic configuration (the factory setting) or ‘Static’ for manual configuration. • Press or to switch between DHCP and Static modes. When Static mode is set, the current network configuration settings will be displayed.

To change the settings • Press or to step the the setting you want to change. • Press OK. • Press or to step from line to line and enter each setting with the numeric keypad. • Press MENU to return to the Network Configuration screen. • Continue to set the remaining settings. • When you have finished, select ‘OK’ from the menu to exit and save settings.
