RC500 Remote Terminal Unit
Designed to withstand the toughest environments and very low power requirements, Honeywell’s RC500 RTU is a modular and scalable controller capable of all remote automation and control applications. The RC500 RTU, combined with Honeywell’s powerful and feature-rich SCADA products, provides an integrated solution solving complex remote automation requirements
Multiple RTU Models to Suit Specific Application Needs
Flexible Communication Ports and Protocol Options
RC500 offers the flexibility to choose the appropriate RTU model to suit specific application needs. RTU variants are available based upon the number of communication ports needed, memory requirements, system topology needs, protocol needs and type of input/output modules needed. RC500 RTUs have the power of embedded Linux platform and are capable of all remote automation and control applications
RC500 RTUs have a variety of communication ports – RS232, RS485 and Ethernet ports. An RTU model with multiple ethernet ports enables dual Ethernet configuration, integration with other controllers and SCADA Servers. RC500 Ethernet ports enable easy I/O expansion through connectivity to Ethernet I/Os. RC500 supports industry standard protocols Modbus and DNP3 over Serial and Ethernet.
Simple I/O Transfers Enable Easy Information Exchange RC500 RTUs allow simple and fast configuration of I/O transfers to peer RTUs. An I/O transfer is a way of copying input or output values from one RTU to another. I/O can be transferred to/from an external device (I/O module or RTU/PLC) or within the local RTU itself. This allows easy transfer and sharing of information between devices in a large network. Peer-to-Peer I/O transfers
Robust Datalogging Ensures Data Availability
Endures Tough Environments and Low Power Situations RC500 has been designed to withstand the toughest environments most suited for remote automation needs such as in oil and gas applications. RC500 can operate on very low power suitable for solar power in remote applications.
RC500 has datalogging capabilities that provide the ability to record I/O values and log them into data files. This ensures important field data is never missed and is available for analysis. The data files can be retrieved and then displayed or imported by many Windows applications. RC500 can log data continuously at a pre-defined interval or datalogging can be event-triggered by a program.

Integrated Solution Answers Complex Automation Needs
RC500 I/O Toolkit Simplifies RTU and I/O Configuration
RC500 RTU, when combined with powerful Experion SCADA products, provides an integrated solution for complex remote automation and control needs such as in oil and gas applications. RTU integrates into Honeywell’s Experion using industry standard protocols such as Modbus and DNP3. This seamless RTU integration with Experion answers the most critical and complex automation needs and at the same time brings in all the latest technology that the Experion platform offers.
The RC500 I/O Toolkit is an easy-to-use software package for designing, configuring and maintaining RC500 RTUs and I/O. The basic level lets you configure RTUs and I/O, assign tag names and configure modes of operation for various RC500 systems. The optional feature sets add exporting, datalogging, Linux features and other rich functionalities to your system. This software also enables easy configuration of I/O transfers between RTUs. ISAGRAF Enables Effective and Fast RTU Programming Scalable Architecture and Flexible I/O Expansion Options RC500 RTU provides flexibility in I/O expansion on Ethernet. The RC500 Ethernet I/O family consists of Ethernet I/O-1 and Ethernet I/O-2 with each offering a range of features and functions. The RC500 Ethernet I/O-2 is the next generation of process quality I/O that offers the best price/performance for control applications. These I/O modules offer several benefits such as redundant power survivability, self-resetting fuses, independent watchdog for health monitoring and many more. There are easy to view LEDs that provide complete status information. The Ethernet I/O modules also have RS485 and USB ports for flexibility and allow hot swapping for instant installation and maintenance. The Ethernet I/O-2 family also offers a full range of analog and discrete I/O module types with several features such as 32 I/O channel in a space saving package, flexible mix of I/O functions in a single module, 16-bit analog for extreme accuracy, very fast I/O polling, advanced counter functions and watchdog monitoring.
ISAGRAF programming for RC500 provides all IEC 61131 standard programming languages: Sequential Function Chart, Ladder Diagram, Structured Text, Instruction List and Function Block Diagram and Flow Charting Graphical Programming: ISaGRAF combines ladder logic with powerful function blocks to give you the simplicity of a PLC, and the performance of a high-end process controller. Text Programming: IEC 1131 statement language uses simple text that is easy to learn and maintain. Multi-Tasking Organization: Sequential Function Charts organize your programs into tasks or sequential steps. Each SFC block may be a ladder diagram, function diagram, statement program or instruction list. On-Line Program Changes: Improve processes without waiting for shutdowns. The ISaGRAF "Workbench" lets you make program changes on the fly. Program Simulation: ISaGRAF has a program simulator that shows how your program works before the actual startup. You can develop and debug your programs quickly and easily and then load them to a RC500 programmable node Direct RC500 tag references: The tag names from the RC500 I/O Toolkit configuration appear automatically in ISaGRAF. They flow automatically to your program logic, saving significant programming time.
