Technical information BRITISH STANDARD BS5315:1991 Our 'Powergrip' range of wormdrive hose clips is produced to the exacting requirements of BS5315:1991. This standard, met by only a few manufacturers, ensures consistent performances, combining ease of assembly with secure sealing.

Low free torque! Powergrip hose clips have low free torque to allow the screw to move freely during assembly under a torque of less than 1.5 Nm. Sector 6
High tightening torque! The British Standard also requires clips to be capable of withstanding high tightening torques. This ensures that ”Powergrip” clips may be safely applied without fear of damage to hoses through over-tightening.

Hydraulic pressure test - BS5315:1991 also specifies hydraulic pressure tests to which ”Powergrip” are subjected during normal production testing. Details available on request. Reliable Our clamps are designed to have a clamping force reserve and not break. They will reliably continue to develop a sealing force around the hose when tightened 360° around the joint. Clamping force meter If you wish to compare the clamping force of different products, we can help you on site with our portable measuring equipment. Once the clamping force has been determined, a suitable level of corrosion protection can be selected within our material range. Product development We continuously test systems of hoses, pipe ends, clamps and couplings at our Technical Centre, in order to develop new products and to improve our existing products.
8-sector load tests. Sealing force tests as a function of clamp type, hose type, installation speed, torque and all parameters can be measured over time.
Technical Centre in Anderstorp, Sweden Mechanical efficiency is one of our test parameters. An increase of tightening torque does not always mean an increase in clamping force! Here the Clamp design and lubrication play vital roles. Our Technical Centre has a state-of-the-art equipment for testing of pressure, vibration and temperature variations. Essential parameters which over time will affect a hose or pipe connection. Many customers have during recent years asked us to perform tests and give technical advice concerning their specific applications. In industry, the choice of clamp is important. Therefore, we have developed a meter that measures the exact clamping force at eight points, directly after installation and over extended periods of time. Tests have shown that our products achieve high clamping forces before breaking and thus ensure that the customer has a clamping force reserve in the clamp to avoid blow-off or leakage over time. Powergrip Bright Band Hose Clamps, to BS 5315 The ”Powergrip” range of hose clamps is manufactured to BS 5315 and has British Standard Kitemark approval. The three component design produces a robust clamp optimising free torque with high final torque and clamping force. The Aluzinc steel gives three times superior corrosion resistance compared to zinc plated mild steel. Our Powergrip products gained their name owing to the very high clamping force developed around the hose. Material: Band and housing: Aluzinc high strength steel including extra treatment for a bright shiny finish. Screw: zinc plated steel. Characteristics The precisely formed band threading is formed by thread rolling and the band edges are rounded thus preventing damage to the hose and provides a smooth inner surface in which to grip the hose firmly. The standard screw has a 7mm slotted hexagonal head. Thanks to the special band threading method, hose clamps can also be produced in very large diameters upon customer specification. 42 Series Powergrip Hose Clamps The graph illustrates the tightening torque versus the capability which gives the recommended tightening torques to achieve a seal without leakage using a hose (equivalent to BS 2952) as recommended under the BSI test for sizes up to 140 mm. Powergrip Bright Band Thumbscrew Clamps The ”Powergrip Thumbscrew” range is based on the ”42” series of Powergrip hose clamps. Manufactured with a plastic wing, the thumbscrew has a low free-turn torque and is easy to use. It seals at relatively low torques, necessary for finger operation (e.g. using hose to BS 2952 the mains water pressure is held at 43.5 psi when the thumbscrew is tightened to 2.0 – 2.50 Nm).

Ultra Stainless to BS 5315 The ”Ultra” range of hose clamps is based on the BS 5315 specification. The three-component design produces a strong clamp optimising free torque with high final torque. The strong material allows the use of a thinner band (compared to Powergrip), thus giving band flexibility which readily conforms to the shape of the hose. Material: Band and housing: BS EN 10088-2 ferritic stainless steel. Screw: BS EN 10088-2 ferritic stainless steel but tin-plated prior to assembly. The tin plate improves the smoothness of the working action and significantly increases corrosion resistance. BS EN 10088-2 ferritic stainless steel has superseded BS 1449 Part 2-430.

Reddiseal Worm Drive Hose Clamps This ”Reddiseal”or ”Narrowband” range of hose clamps is light and flexible and is based on the DIN 3017 standard. Material: Band and housing are BS EN 10088-2 ferritic stainless steel/AISI 430 and the screw is zinc plated steel.

Characteristics The 9 mm pressed embossed band has a high degree of flexibility. The rolled up band edges protect the hose from damage. The housing is riveted at 4 points in order to make the clamp strong. The standard screw has a 7 mm slotted hexagonal head. Hose sizes and diameters are indicated in millimetres.

Mini Standard and Stainless Mini clips feature rolled-up band edges that are gentle on hoses. The band tongue that fits under the hose is profiled for added strength. The nut is retained even if the screw is removed. Furthermore the screw has a hexagonal head and can be tightened with an flexible socket wrench. The Mini is particularly suitable for use on small, thin-walled hoses. Mini Standard: Electro zinc plated. Mini Stainless: All parts are made of SS 2333/AISI 304 stainless steel.

Aquaclip Worm Drive Hose Clamps 9 mm and 12 mm Stainless and Acid Resistant The “Aquaclip” range of hose clamps is produced in austenitic stainless steel. Material: Stainless - band, housing and screw all produced in austenitic grade stainless steel to AISI 304 “Acid Resistant” - produced in AISI 316. The sizes 14, 17 and 20 have 9 mm bands and all other sizes 12 mm bands. Characteristics The bands have a smooth inner surface which grips the hose firmly whilst ensuring hose protection due to the rolled up band edges. The housing is made from a steel tube which is customer designed having only some hundredths of a millimetre manufacturing tolerance. The clamp with a unique one-piece housing design is very strong and also develops a high circumferential sealing force around the hose. The three precision made parts combine to create the best characteristics for stainless steel clamps on the market. The heavy-duty range of stainless steel hose clamps has been designed to reliably seal the hoses. It is one of the strongest worm drive hose clamps made and has the advantage over nut and bolt type clamps in having a larger adjustment range, thus reducing stock requirements and being considerably lower in cost. Exhaust Pipe Clamps The Exhaust Pipe Clamp was originally designed in collaboration with the automotive industry to provide a high and even tightening force around the entire pipe, minimise leakage and be vibration-proof. The wide range of standard clamps covers most vehicles. Self-locking screw is standard on 2.0 mm and 2.5 mm clamps and facilitates quick and easy tightening with one hand. 1.5 mm and 3 mm are supplied with hexagonal screws. Pipe Clamps Our standard M8 pipe clamps are suitable for use with a wide range of pipe diameters. Pipe clamps are not used only in exhaust systems. Other applications include TV aerials, road signs etc. M10 pipe clamps are available to order. Material: Electro zinc plated steel.

Terry Band – The Versatile Banding System A banding system with a multitude of uses and so quick and easy to use. No need to worry about the size of the clip, you can simply cut the size to suit the job and it can be used over and over again if needs require. So simple, just a pair of “snips”, a screwdriver and to make the job even easier, a Terry’s housing tool, to hold the housing firm while you tighten up. From heating to the motor trade, the uses are endless, no more worries about stocking different size clamps, with a dispenser pack, a box of housings and screws and you are ready for any job. Material: 30 m packs in 9 mm Aluzinc coated mild steel band with zinc plated housings and screws. Housing & screws boxed in 100’s.
To retain housing on band, pass band through housing slot and bend 20 mm of band under housing.
Loop free end of band around workpiece and…
Insert screw and tighten with screwdriver or posidriver. The clamping process is made simpler by securing the housing with the Terry housing tool, whilst tightening the screw.
Terry KIT – The easy banding system An instant solution for clamping. KIT offers you the immediate possibility to make your own clamp from KIT components. Ideal, amongst others for ventilation and maintenance purposes. Each KIT is supplied in a dispenser box containing a full length of band and a number of housings with screw. Housing types are "quick lock" or "fixed" Bands are perforated type, bandwidths are 8, 9, 12 or 14 mm. Materials: choice from three; W2 B, W2 or W4, stainless steel

Robust Standard and Acid Resistant Robust is a heavy-duty clamp with rolled-up band edges. It is used in many applications such as for sealing heavy-gauge reinforced hoses used for irrigation, drainage, sludge pumping etc. The hexagonal head design allows tightening with an ordinary spanner or socket wrench. This product has the original heavy duty design with preshaped welding points. Robust comes with three (3) welding points for increased security for larges sizes. Please note that over 40 mm diameter we only use M8 bolts or larger for safe installations. Robust Standard: All parts are made of high grade carbon steel and are individually electro zinc plated before assembly. Robust Acid Resistant: All parts are made of stainless steel AISI 316.

Power Clamp Standard and Acid Resistant A very strong heavy duty double band clamp. Also available in a double screw version for extra clamping force. Both ”single” and ”double” are available in standard version and in stainless steel. Power Clamp Standard: All parts are made of high grade carbon steel which have an electro zinc plating. Nylon Hose Clips The plastic clip is an injection moulded multi-purpose clip and provides an alternative method of clamping hoses. Material: UV and heat stabilised Nylon 66. Characteristics The moulded plastic one-piece hoseclip is easy to use and produces high integrity clamping with its double row of interlocking teeth. It can be fitted after the hose is connected and is secured by tightening the jaws of the clip to the required tension. The first teeth of the clip can be engaged by hand, followed by adjustable pliers or multi-grips until at least 3 teeth are interlocked. The clip may be released by twisting sideways to disengage the teeth. Again, pliers are quite suitable for this purpose. Nylon hose clips are capable of withstanding up to 200psi on leakage tests over a temperature range <0° through to 150°C. They are non corrosive under atmospheric conditions and highly resistant to most chemicals. For high volume usage, special manual and pneumatic tools have been designed and are available on application. Rubber-Lined Clips Standard and Stainless SQ Retaining clamps are produced to DIN 3016. The standard form is D1. Bands have reinforced bolt holes for extra strength and rubber profile. Serratub 2 Apart from having the unique quick-lock hinged housing, the Serratub 2 range of clamps is supplied with a solid band, 9 mm wide. The underside of the band is completely smooth to prevent hose damage and possible leakage. Band edges are rolled up. A very powerful clamp, easy to fit and with a high corrosion resistance.
