CR-218 AM/FM Clock Radio SLEEP TO RADIO ! ! ! ! ! ! Select the desired radio station. Slide the Function Switch (7) to the "AUTO" or "OFF" position. Press the Sleep button (3). The clock display will show 59 minutes as the default sleep period. The sleep period can be reduced as desired by pressing the Minute Set button (6) while holding the Sleep button (3) down. The sleep period can be manually set up to a maximum of 1 hour 59 minutes by pressing the Hour Set button (5) once while holding down the Sleep button (3). The radio will play for the desired period and then turn itself off automatically. To turn the radio off prior to the end of the preset sleep period, simply press the Snooze button (4) once. SLEEP AND WAKE TO RADIO ! ! ! ! Select your desired radio station. Slide the Function Switch (7) to the "AUTO" position. Set the desired wake-up time as described above. Press the Sleep button (3) and set the desired sleep period. BACKING UP YOUR SETTINGS Unplugging the Clock Radio from the mains, even temporarily will clear all the settings. To back up the settings, you will need a 9V battery, type 6LR61 or equivalent (PP3). If you wish to back up your settings, do so before you set up your Clock Radio and with the power cord unplugged. ! Invert the unit. Press down lightly on the back of the battery compartment cover and slide it off. Push the battery clip onto the battery (it will fit only one way).Refit the cover. ANTENNA TOPICS Your Alarm Clock Radio has a built-in antenna for the AM radio band and its reception is directional. Therefore, changing the orientation of the radio may improve the reception. The FM antenna (11) is a flexible wire on the back of the unit, and it should be extended to its full length and positioned for best reception. The surface of the unit can be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth and then dried carefully. Do not use liquids to clean the unit as these may penetrate the case and lead to a malfunction. ELECTRICAL INFORMATION Mains Supply: The mains operating voltage of this unit is on the rating plate on the rear. In the UK this is 230/240 V. Caution: The mains plug is the means of disconnecting this apparatus from the mains power. The mains plug must be unobstructed and freely operable at all times. This appliance must not be earthed (grounded) The appliance cord is terminated with a UK approved mains plug fitted with a 3A fuse. If the fuse needs to be replaced, an ASTA or BSI approved BS1362 fuse rated at 3A must be used. If you need to change the mains plug, remove the fuse and dispose of this plug safely immediately after cutting it from the cord. Connecting a Mains Plug The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the code: Blue: NEUTRAL Brown: LIVE: As these colours may not correspond to the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows: The BLUE wire must be connected to the terminal marked with the letter N or coloured BLUE or BLACK. Carefully unpack the unit and removeall packing. If there is any damage, please return your unit to your nearest Tesco store for replacement. Remember to take your purchase receipt with you. ! If you dispose of it, do so having regard to any recycling regulations in your area. PRELIMINARIES This unit is designed to operate on an 230/240V 50Hz mains supply. If you wish to back up the settings in case of power failure a 9V battery, type 6F22, will be needed (see P. 4). This battery is not supplied. ! Place the unit on a stable surface away from heat and damp. ! Unwrap the FM antenna cable (11) and extend it fully ! ! Uncoil the mains cable fully. Plug the mains plug into the wall socket and switch the mains power on. Your unit is now ready for use. ! Alarm Indicator Dial Scale Clock LED Display FM Antenna Wire Tuning Control AM/FM Selector Switch Volume Control To set the hours, hold the Time Set button (2) down and press the Hours Set button (5) until the desired hour is displayed on the Clock LED Display (10). Release both buttons. The Clock is a 24 hour clock; e.g. 6 pm is entered as 18:00 hours. ! To set the minutes, hold the Time Set button (2) down, press the Minutes Set button (6) until the correct time appears on the Clock LED Display (10). Release both buttons. ! WAKE TO RADIO OR BUZZER ! ! ! ! Select the desired radio station and volume level. Hold the Alarm Set/Off button (1) down and press the Hour Set button (5) to set the desired alarm hour. Now hold the Alarm Set/Off button (1) and press the Minute Set button (6) to select your desired minute setting. Slide the Function Switch (7) to the "AUTO" position. The radio will switch on to wake you up at the preset time. If you wish to awake to a buzzer instead of the radio, turn the Volume Control (14) down until it switches off. This will activate the buzzer alarm. To turn the radio or buzzer off, slide the Function Switch (7) to the "OFF"position or press the Alarm Set/Off button (1). NOTE: Never allow a battery to become fully exhausted - replace it periodically. Dispose of a used battery according to all recycling regulations in your area. Never throw a used battery into the general rubbish, or a fire. ! RADIO OPERATION SNOOZE REPEAT ALARM ! ! ! 7 43 CLOCK SETTING ! ! To turn the radio on, slide the Function switch (7) to the "ON" position. Slide the AM/FM Selector Switch (13) to FM or AM. Turn the Volume control (14) to the right to increase and to the left to decrease the volume level. Turn the Tuning Control (12) to the frequency of the desired station. The dial scale (9) indicates the frequency. To turn the radio off, slide the Function Switch (17) to the "OFF" position. ! ! When the buzzer sounds or the radio turns on, pressing the Snooze button (4) will turn off the buzzer or radio temporarily. Approximately 9 minutes later, the buzzer or radio will turn on again. To manually cancel the snooze operation, slide the Function Switch (7) to the "OFF" position or press the Alarm Set/Off button (1)
