3. TEST METHODOLOGY 3.1 GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF APPLIED STANDARDS According to its specifications, the EUT must comply with the requirements of the following standards: ETSI EN 300 328 – Electromagnetic compatibility and Radio spectrum Matters (ERM); Wideband Transmission systems; Data transmission equipment operating in the 2.4GHz ISM band and using spread spectrum modulation techniques: Part 2: Harmonized EN covering essential requirements under article 3.2 of the R&TTE Directive.
3.2 DESCRIPTION OF TEST MODES The EUT (model: EKI-1352) had been tested under operating and standby condition. Software used to control the EUT for staying in continuous transmitting and receiving mode is programmed. IEEE 802.11b: Channel Low and Channel High with 11 or 1bps data rate were chosen for full testing. IEEE 802.11g: Channel Low and Channel High with 6Mbps data rate were chosen for full testing. The worst case data rate is determined as the data rate with highest output power.

4.3 MEASUREMENT UNCERTAINTY For the test methods, according to the present document, the measurement uncertainty figures shall be calculated in accordance with TR 100 028-1 [2] and shall correspond to an expansion factor (coverage factor) k = 1,96 or k = 2 (which provide confidence levels of respectively 95 % and 95,45 % in the case where the distributions characterizing the actual measurement uncertainties are normal (Gaussian)). Table 6 is based on such expansion factors. 5.2 EQUIPMENT Radiated emissions are measured with one or more of the following types of linearly polarized antennas: tuned dipole, biconical, log periodic, bi-log, and/or ridged waveguide, horn. Spectrum analyzers with preselectors and quasi-peak detectors are used to perform radiated measurements. Conducted emissions are measured with Line Impedance Stabilization Networks and EMI Test Receivers. Calibrated wideband preamplifiers, coaxial cables, and coaxial attenuators are also used for making measurements. All receiving equipment conforms to CISPR Publication 16-1, “Radio Interference Measuring Apparatus and Measurement Methods.”

7.4 FREQUENCY HOPPING REQUIREMENTS 7.4.1 DWELL TIME LIMIT ETSI EN 300 328 clause 4.3.4.1.2 The maximum dwell time shall be 0,4 s. test configuration
EUT
Spectrum Analyzer
TEST PROCEDURE 1.
Place the EUT on the table and set it in transmitting mode.
2.
Remove the antenna from the EUT and then connect a low loss RF cable from the antenna port to the spectrum analyzer.
3.
Set center frequency of spectrum analyzer = operating frequency.
4.
Set the spectrum analyzer as RBW, VBW=1MHz, Span = 0Hz, Sweep = auto.
5.
Repeat above procedures until all frequency measured were complete.
TEST PROCEDURE The transmitter output is connected to a spectrum analyzer. The span is set to 0 Hz, centered on a single, selected hopping channel. The width of a single pulse is measured in a fast scan. The number of pulses is measured in a 3.16 second scan, to enable resolution of each occurrence. The average time of occupancy in the specified 31.6 second period (79 channels * 0.4 s) is equal to 10 * (# of pulses in 3.16 s) * pulse width.
TEST RESULTS Not applicable, because the EUT has no BT function.

The hopping channels defined within a hopping sequence shall be at least 1 MHz apart (channel separation).
3.
Set center frequency of spectrum analyzer = middle of hopping channel.
4.
Set the spectrum analyzer as RBW = 30kHz, VBW = 100kHz, Span = 3MHz, Sweep = auto.
5.
Max hold, mark 3 peaks of hopping channel and record the 3 peaks frequency.
TEST RESULTS No non-compliance noted Not applicable, the EUT equipped with AFH function.

7.4.3 HOPPING SEQUENCE LIMIT ETSI EN 300 328 clause 4.3.4.3.2 Non-adaptive Frequency Hopping systems shall make use of a hopping sequence(s) that contains at least 15 hopping channels. Adaptive Frequency Hopping systems shall make use of a hopping sequence(s) that is capable of operating over a minimum of 90 % of the band specified in table 1, from which at any given time a minimum of 20 hopping channels shall be used. Each hopping channel of the hopping sequence shall be occupied at least once during a period not exceeding four times the product of the dwell time per hop and the number of channels.
3. Set spectrum analyzer Start=2400MHz, Stop = 2441.5MHz, Sweep = auto and Start=2441.5MHz, Stop = 2483.5MHz, Sweep = auto. 4. Set the spectrum analyzer as RBW, VBW=510kHz. 5. Max hold, view and count how many channel in the band.
TEST RESULTS No non-compliance noted Not applicable, the EUT equipped with AFH function.

Remark: 1. The emission behaviour belongs to narrowband spurious emission. 2. Measurements above show only up to 6 maximum emissions noted, or would be lesser, with “ N/A ” remark, if no specific emissions from the EUT are recorded (ie: margin>20dB from the applicable limit) and considered that's already beyond the background noise floor.
