Undo the two Phillips screws to access them, then replace and tighten the screws to secure the hopper cover. Assemble the shredder on a clean level surface and it is recommended two people assist each other in the assembly process. Remove the machine from the crate and place on a temporary sturdy support. Firstly, attach the metal safety grid to the outlet chute opening using the below images and instructions for assistance.   Remove the circled bar from the machine Push the lower chute downwards 193830002 25/01/2015      Attach the front foot to the machine. Remove the nuts from bolts 1 and 2; remove the bolts and pipe spacer. Align the discharge hopper to number 3 and assemble with supplied nut & bolt. Attach front foot 5 to the side and align the mounting holes 1 and 2. Put the pipe spacer back in place. Insert the bolts and secure tightly with nuts and washers. 3 1 2  Now you can secure the grid between the upper and lower chutes. 193830002 25/01/2015       The next step is to attach the axle brackets, axle and wheels referring to Fig 3 below: Remove your chosen temporary support and carefully rest the rear of the machine on the ground. Remove the bolt and pipe spacer 4 and 5. Put the rear axle brackets on either side and align the mounting holes with holes 4 and 5. Refit the pipe spacer and the long bolt 5, and secure tightly with a washer and nut. Insert bolt M8x20 into hole 4 and secure tightly with locknut. 4 5 Attach the chipper tube to the machine referring to the image below:     Remove the nuts and washers of the two top threaded studs and loosen the bottom two nuts. Put the chipper tube in place on the side by positioning the plate over the bottom studs and securing the nuts on the top studs. Secure the flange with washers and nuts M8. Make sure the tube is located at the correct angle and take care to locate the steel flange on the chute into the aperture in the body. Finger tighten the nuts initially until you are happy with the tube position and then tighten the nuts fully using the appropriate spanner. 193830002 25/01/2015 Handle Assembly: Attach both handles to the left and right side of the hopper using the supplied bolts. IMPORTANT: Finally check that all screws, bolts and nuts are securely tightened. Do this every time you use the machine. FUEL The chipper/shredder is supplied without fuel or oil. Petrol is very flammable. Avoid smoking or fuelling the shredder anywhere near a flame or spark. Allow the engine to cool before re-fuelling. Fuel the engine at least 3 metres away from your work area. Use fresh unleaded petrol and good quality four stroke engine oil (SAE10W30 or SAE10W40). IMPORTANT: ALWAYS refer to the engine manufacturers instructions, for full details of the operation, servicing or fuelling of the engine. If the shredder is not going to be used for a long period, run the engine until the fuel in the fuel tank has been used and the carburetor is free of any remaining fuel. Dispose of any unwanted oil at an authorised recycling point Using the separate engine instructions as your guide, fill the oil tank with good quality engine oil SAE10W30 or SAE10W40. Check the level with the dipstick. Fill the fuel tank with unleaded petrol; do not fill closer than 10-15mm from the top to allow for expansion. Wheel the shredder to the work site and place a collection receptacle under the discharge chute (or allow the chippings to fall to the ground). STARTING & STOPPING YOUR MACHINE Starting the Chipper/Shredder:  Fill with fuel and oil as directed in the engine manual.  Turn the ignition switch on the engine to the “I” or "On" position.  Fully close the choke.  Pull starter cord until the engine fires/ignites, then gradually open the choke fully.  Allow the engine to run for 2 minutes before starting work to allow the engine to warm up.  Adjust the throttle as necessary. Stopping the Chipper/Shredder:  Reduce the engine speed by adjusting the throttle.  Turn the ignition switch to “O” or "Off" position. 193830002 25/01/2015 HINTS & TIPS Wood Chipping: Long branches such as tall flower stems or branches should be fed into the side chipping chute for chipping by the rotating blade. Some side shoots may have to be trimmed from the main branch before feeding. Short stubby branches can be pushed through the chipper section using the next longer branch never use your hands. Similarly push the last branch through using a wooden stick to guide, not your hands. Feed larger branches slowly and observe the maximum diameter of 50mm/2 inches. Do not allow a build-up of debris to accrue underneath the shredder. It may interfere with the discharge chute. Shredding: Do not open the top cover when adding more material. Leaves and grass will be difficult to feed automatically into the hopper - use a wooden stick to push in - not your hands! Do not lean over the hopper in case any material flies back out. The shredder is more likely to block up if the material is wet or full of sap. Leave fresh prunings for a day or two, to allow them to dry out before shredding. MAINTENANCE Adjusting or Replacing the Belt: There is a “V” belt under the belt cover, which transits energy from the engine to the blade tray. After some use the belt may stretch and become loose so it will be necessary to adjust the tension or replace the belt. It is recommended that this action is undertaken by an Authorised Service Dealer. Adjusting the Hammer: There are 16 hammers in the machine box - when the blades run fast these hammers crush the material into small pieces. In time the cutting edge of the hammers may become blunt. Initially you only need to turn the hammers 180 degrees, but when both sides are blunt they will need replacing. This must be undertaken by an Authorised Service Dealer. 193830002 25/01/2015 PARTS DIAGRAM PARTS LIST Item No. Part No. Description Qty Item No. Part No. Description Qty Item No. Part No. Description Qty 1 TH105-1 Rubber Foot 2 28 TH105-21 Blade 2 55 TH105-36 Engine Seat 1 2 TH105-2 Front Support 1 29 TH105-64 Locknut 20 56 TH105-74 Flat Key 1 3 TH105-56 Hex Screw 4 30 TH105-65 Main Impellor 1 57 TH105-44 Clutch Gasket 1 4 TH105-57 Flat Washer 10 31 TH105-33 Blade Drum 1 58 TH105-45 V Belt 1 5 TH105-58 Locknut 10 32 TH105-66 Impellor Axle 1 59 TH105-75 Clutch Gasket 1 6 TH105-5 Nut 26 33 TH105-23 Left Steel Panel 1 60 TH105-76 Hex Bolt 5 7 TH105-4 Spring Washer 31 34 TH105-52 Right Steel Panel 1 61 TH105-46 Belt Cover 1 8 TH105-3 Flat Washer 47 35 TH105-67 6 62 TH105-43 Exhaust Guard 9 TH105-9 Tube 1 36 TH105-68 Blade Cover Plate 1 63 TH105-77 Anti-Rotating Bolt 4 10 TH105-6 Hex Bolt (Long) 3 37 TH105-69 4 64 TH105-78 11 TH105-59 18 38 TH105-70 Spring Washer 4 65 TH105-38 Rubber Gasket 1 12 TH105-7 Discharge Chute 1 39 TH105-27 Circlip 2 66 TH105-79 Buffer Washer 4 13 TH105-8 Baffle Plate 1 40 TH105-28 Left Washer 1 67 TH105-80 Flat Washer 8 14 TH105-60 Screw 4 41 TH105-30 Bearing Housing 2 68 TH105-39 Hopper 1 15 TH105-61 Tube 3 42 TH105-31 Bearing 2 69 TH105-55 Screw 4 16 TH105-53 Hex Bolt 3 43 TH105-32 Cushion 2 70 TH105-40 Handle 2 17 TH105-10 Screen 1 44 TH105-34 Belt Key 1 71 TH105-81 PP Plate 1 18 TH105-62 Long Pin 2 45 TH105-50 Right Washer 1 72 TH105-82 Screw 2 19 TH105-63 B-Pin 4 46 TH105-49 Belt Pulley 1 73 TH105-54 Wheel Axle 1 20 TH105-20 Hammer Axle 4 47 TH105-48 Spacer 1 74 TH105-25 Wheel Support 2 21 TH105-19 Roll Pin 4 48 TH105-29 Side Chute 1 75 TH105-24 2 22 TH105-18 Bush I 4 49 TH105-71 Rubber Gasket 1 76 TH105-83 Spring Washer 23 TH105-16 Bush II 4 50 TH105-72 Pressing Ring 1 77 TH105-84 Wheel Bolt Cover 2 24 TH105-15 Bush III 8 51 TH105-35 Rear Panel 1 78 TH105-85 Tool Box Leg 2 25 TH105-14 Bush VI 4 52 TH105-41 Hook 2 79 TH105-37 Tool Box 1 26 TH105-17 Hammer Flail 16 53 TH105-73 Lock Washer 4 80 TH105-86 Grid 1 27 TH105-22 Blade Screw 6 54 TH105-42 Hex Bolt 2 89 TH105-89 Tube 1 90 TH105-90 Bracket 2 Hex Bolt Flange Nut Nut B&S Engine Wheel 1 1 2 GJ HANDY & CO LTD USER WARRANTY POLICY 1.
