1 Problem Description We have found a restriction in the usage of base timer I/O selection function. We would provide the details of the restriction and its countermeasures. Please confirm the restriction details and take the countermeasure.

2 Restriction Conditions When the I/O mode of the base timer (timer full mode) is used, the restriction is require d in the following combination of the conditions. [Restriction requiring condition combination] When all the following conditions met, the required function cannot be executed. ch.8 and ch.9 are used and, I/O mode 1(timer full mode) is used. and, external triggering input T GIN is used. In the original connection configuration of I/O mode 1, the external input terminal, T IOA09, of MCU is connected to the T GIN input of base timer ch.8. (Figure 1) However, in the present circuit of the affected products, T IOA09 is not connected to the T GIN input of base timer ch.8. (Figure 2) even if the I/O mo de 1 is se lected. T herefore, when ch.8 and ch.9 are used in I/O mode 1, the external trigger input T GIN cannot be used. T he restriction is not required when the I/O mode 1 is selected in the case where the base timer itself does not use external trigger input T GIN (T MCR.EGS1=0, T MCR.EGS0=0).

4 Affected Modules T his problem restricts the base timer I/O selection.

5 Root Cause T he restriction is due to the specifications of this series. But, the restriction is not clearly described in the existing revision of the peripheral manual. So, we would revise the peripheral manual.

6 Workaround - Please use ch.8 and ch.9 in I/O mo de 1 in the setting where the external trigger input T GIN is not used (T MCR.EGS1=0, T MCR.EGS0=0). - Please use another channel when the base timer function using external trigger input T GIN I/O mode 1 is required.
