The Game Tactical Soccer The New Season is a turn-based soccer simulation. Control all 11 players at the same time - instead of shouting at your left back to ‘get forward’ you control them and can build up an attack exactly how you want. You are the coach and have real control of the team. The gameplay is simple. When it's your turn, select a player and decide where they should move; or perhaps prepare them to head the ball. If they have the ball, you can pass, shoot or dribble. Once you've instructed your players, press ‘end turn’ and watch them carry out your orders. The computer controlled team then plays. Play continues like this until the match ends!
Players have different abilities - speed, dribbling, tackling, passing, shooting, stamina etc. Use your tactical skills to maximise the strengths of your players to defeat the opposition. When defending, you have to be positionally aware and block the opposition's runs with your players.

Selecting exhibition match will allow the player to play head to head against another human player on the same machine or against a computer opponent. If it's your first ever Tactical Soccer game we suggest playing an exhibition match.
Exhibition Match Options Set the type of match you want to play: - the number of human managers/players. 1 for a single player game against the AI. - edit the name of your team - edit the name of the opposition - adjust the difficulty (this affects the players abilities) - how long (in game time) each half should last - allow ability reduction - set whether you want to be able to customise your player's abilities by reducing some of their attributes and boosting others. - set whether to play a men's or women's match Press START MATCH.

Spend points to improve your players abilities (Tactical Soccer has lots of stats which describe each soccer player. At the start the coach has a certain number of points to train players to meet their needs). Just click on the rating you wish to alter. LMB (left mouse button) increases the rating, RMB (right mouse button) decreases – note some ratings have a minimum level. Change the team’s formation. Alter the player’s position. Just click on the player in the list and then on the player you want them to swap positions with. Promote substitutes. Just click on the player in the list and then on one of the substitutes (12 to 18). Note: Goalies (they have a G where the shirt number usually is) can only play in Goal. Change the team’s strip. Change the player's appearance.

In addition an R indicates they are playing on the right side of the pitch, L on the left. When neither R or L appears the player is playing in the middle. Player Stats Very little happens by chance in Tactical Soccer, for instance whether the ball is controlled by the player or not is set by their rating for that skill. Here are the skills: Skill St- Stamina Sp- Speed Dr- Dribble Tk- Tackling Hd- Heading Sk- Skill PS- Pass short PM- Pass medium PL- Pass long SS- Shoot short SM- Shoot medium SL- Shoot long
Used How long they can run before getting tired How fast they move without the ball How fast they can run with the ball How good at tackling they are How good at heading When a ball is passed to them this decides whether they control it Chance of doing a successful close-range pass Medium range pass Long pass Chance of scoring from short range Medium range shots Long range shots
This really puts you the coach in control. You decide who plays in what position and these skill ratings will set how they play. This allows managers to create their own teams. The rating % gives an indicator as to the strength of your team. So decide on your formation, select the players, spend those points on the player's abilities and when you are ready press START MATCH.
The Match - Overview Tactical Soccer follows the standard rules of soccer. The game itself is turn based and flows as follows… Coach 1: Selects players with the LMB (left mouse button) and clicks to the spot where they should run to on the pitch. RMB cancels the move. They can also get players to turn around and also to be prepared to jump to head the ball. If the player has the ball they can select where they want to pass the ball to. In addition they can set the height of the pass and the bend. The coach then hits end turn (five seconds of match time is used), and the ball gets passed and their players move. Note: the opposing goalie will

automatically react to shots on goal and players will automatically try and head the ball if it arrives to them in the air. Coach 2: Now takes over and gives the orders to their players. Coach 2 then hits end turn, and the ball gets passed and this coaches players move. Note: once again the opposing goalie will automatically react to shots on goal and players will automatically try and head the ball if it arrives to them in the air. The game continues between the two coaches until time is up. The teams will switch at half time. The game is really as simple as that to play. However you get a great deal of variety due to the skill mix of teams and their formations.

the mouse. When you have the pass lined up press the Pass icon again to lock it in. Shoot: Select the shoot icon instead of the pass icon. Shots have more power and when you click you actually set the mid-point of the ball's journey. Apart from that shooting works in the same manner as passes. General Match Rules Here are some general rules: Managers can move all of their team each turn. Managers do not have to move all their players. To tackle someone just move your player into the player with the ball. Players that are tackled/or fail in a tackle are ‘stunned’ for several turns and cannot move. Stars appear over their heads and on the player information panel (bottom left). Kick-off takes place automatically, with the ball being passed to the nearest attacker. The key rules of football have been implemented – for example only the penalty taker (and opposing goalie) can enter the penalty box, you cannot get too close to an opposing team's free-kick. To save you time several in-play formations e.g. kick-off and goal-kick are stored and when the situation arises your players will automatically move to these positions. You can change them in the Formation panel. Players generally follow the rules of the game to the letter. So for example if during a penalty you tell a player to encroach (enter the penalty box when they shouldn't) they will not move into the box. AI Goalies When it's not your turn the AI will move the Goalies. This allows them to save shots from the other player. Stamina/Energy This allows us to simulate player tiredness. Players will have to be (subject to their stamina rating) used sparingly and will not be able to run around all the time for the full 90 minutes. When their energy drops below their stamina their speed slows. Shirt Numbers During the creation of the game we found it better to keep the shirt numbers as 1 to 11 for your side and 12 to 22 for your opposition rather than allow you to have whatever number you want. For example - it was easier to remember that to quickly select player 5 you just pressed the 5 key.
Formation Panel This panel can be used to also display the Stats information – just press the STATS button. Here you can change some general formations. Kick Off – how your players line-up at kick-off. Receive Kick Off – how the players line up when facing a kick-off . Receive Goal Kick – how the players line-up when facing a goal-kick. Defend Corner from the Right – how your players defend a corner. Defend Corner from the Left - how your players defend a corner. Take Corner from the Right - how your players take a corner. Take Corner from the Left - how your players take a corner.

Plus set who takes your penalties and who takes your corners. Select the player's shirt and then press the button. Note: if you are taking a free-kick an extra button SWAP TAKER will appear. You can use this to change whose taking the free-kick. You can save your custom formations and build up a library of positions.
Stats Panel Lots of stats to keep you informed as to how the game is going.
Scorers Panel Complete list of scorers and the time they scored. Offside Is implemented – so don’t goal hang. Note: the referee's decision is final – our ref rarely makes a mistake! Substitutions On the Formation Panel is the Subs button. Press this and you will see the subs panel. Notes: – – – –
substitutions can only take place when the ball is out of play (including after a goal). each side is allowed only 3 substitutions per game. in Tactical Soccer only Goalies can replace Goalies. An S where their number normally is means that played has already been substituted and cannot return to the match.
Tackles When a tackle takes place the outcome is based on.. – – –
tackling rating of the person doing the tackle. the skill rating of the player with the ball. whether the tackle is “from behind” - less chance of success more chance of a foul being given.
There is a chance the player with the ball might get fouled resulting in a free-kick or penalty being given. A wall will automatically form. The player being tackled might get injured resulting in their energy dropping. Match Length Matches last 90 minutes – however injury time can be added by the referee (which also covers substitutions). Knock-out Cup The rules are..
