The Most Innovative Digital Networking Radio Console
Radio production in transition Today, consumers and infotainment audiences can select between many different program channels coming from all kind of media outlets. For that reason, traditional radio broadcast formats are in strong competition with internet magazines, television channels, online music and journalism websites. Modern radio stations strive to combine their strength coming from low-cost wide area broadcasting with direct communication channels to increase listener loyalty and to offer advertisement customers more and targeted information channels to consumers. Challenged by the competition of internet based entertainment and TV, radio stations develop new formats combining traditional radio production with new-media based interactivities. These enhanced business models change the requirements of all involved in the content production processes including producers, talents and assistants. To comply with these needs, producers and talents of state-of-the-art ra-

dio stations have to control all kinds of production and communication tools exceeding “audio-only” operations by far. Those demands and the lack of suitable production equipment make a produc-
tion studio a vast variety of faders, knobs, PCs, monitors, mice and keyboards - all of them located on a central production desk which is certainly not an ergonomic way to control highly sophisticated technology.
Networking consoles - Augmented control production console for 24/7 operation.
First radio console with 1/3 cut touch-screen monitors in a low-rise surface
Being aware of the operational restrictions coming from non-ergonomic working environments of today, Klotz Digonomics has taken a completely new approach to accommodate radio production consoles to this new era.
One control surface for audio processing and control of 3rd party devices The GRAPHITE two console offers a central platform integrating all radio production control operations within one single control surface. The GRAPHITE two range of consoles includes audio processing, visual content control, internet communication and remote control of all kind of 3rd party equipment in one single control surface. GRAPHITE two consoles with augmented control functions
make life of operators extremely comfortable keeping their focus on radio content production rather on radio technology.
GRAPHITE two – the perfect console for stand-alone and networked radio centers In its basic version, the GRAPHITE two console is a powerful tool controlling audio in a stand-alone radio studio as well as in networked radio facilities. The integrated powerful PC runs Windows OS© and can be connected to any Ethernet LAN. Audio over IP, high speed fiber optic interfaces and all important audio formats as well as high-quality microphone pre-amplifiers in combination with best possible EQ, dynamics and other digital signal processing features make the GRAPHITE two console the perfect audio
GRAPHITE two consoles are also available with a high-resolution 1/3 cut wide format touch-screen monitor, which makes the audio console a perfect remote control for all kinds of studio equipment such as play-out systems and telephone hybrids. In this version, GRAPHITE two consoles can also be used as an interface to communicate directly with listeners and to control program associated data, pictures and video giving augmented control to operators and talents.
Audio over IP, fiber optic transmission and all common audio interfaces GRAPHITE two consoles equipped with audio over IP and standard Ethernet protocol interfaces can seamlessly be integrated in both the audio network and the local control network. As the GRAPHITE two range of consoles come with a highly comfortable configuration tool, integrating the GRAPHITE two consoles in audio networks or in a standard local area network is done without timeconsuming IP address configuration or other complicate setup procedures.

Any GRAPHITE two console of 3 modules width can be expanded to a GRAPHITE two augmented control console by fitting the GRAPHITE two display unit to a GRAPHITE two audio console.
High resolution slim-line touch-screen monitor for control center software The integrated slim-line touch-screen monitor (resolution 1,630 x 342) makes external controls for all audio settings redundant as those can now be done using the internal touch-screen monitor. Once the GRAPHITE two display unit is installed the
GRAPHITE two augmented consoles are loaded with the Klotz Digonomics Control Center Engine (CCE) application software. The CCE software uses Microsoft Windows© as operating system and comes with a preset allowing for immediate operation. Any person skilled in CMS/HTML programming can easily adapt CCE to the user requirements.
GRAPHITE two console with augmented control runs third party application software The Klotz Digonomics CCE software enables the con-
sole to run all kind of third party control software and software applications on the GRAPHITE two console. CCE provides a dedicated window for each application and shows status and offers control by touch screen of the software packages installed. Selecting and activating applications running on the console is done by scrolling the screen horizontally and touching the particular application required. All other windows show their current status even in the passive mode and can quickly be activated by a finger tip.

Monitor 1
GRAPHITE two console – Audio control surface Only two different modules are necessary to set up any console with 4 to 32 fader strips. The console can be completed by the highly sophisticated monitor and telephone module which includes a central control unit for all DSP functions. Fader modules and monitor modules can be combined in any way and can be fitted with or without touch
screens monitors. Both, fader and monitor modules are mounted in two different frame sizes containing PC and PSU which are called the main console frames (MCF). The GRAPHITE two console frames can be arranged inline or in split mode con-
nected just by a single CAT5 cable. The MCF – which is needed only once in any console regardless of its number of channels – contains the PC, video interface, keyboard and mouse connectors and the PSU. The GRAPHITE two MCF is connected by one single CAT5 cable with the G2 Audio Engine and Router Frame.
The GRAPHITE two fader module The GRAPHITE two fader module can be mounted in both, the GRAPHITE two MCF and the GRAPHITE two extension unit. Programmable illuminated buttons allow assigning any available source to any fader channel – an ultrabright OLED display on each fader module makes it easy for the operator to keep full overview. Switching from one input to another or from one preset to another one can be done via a push button or via a soft button located on the touchscreen monitor. All previous
settings including level, DSP settings and GPI formats follow automatically once an audio input is selected. If a new channel with a different volume level is assigned to a fader strip fitted with nonmotorized faders, flashing ON buttons indicate deviating volume levels. This function allows for a cost-efficient solution to control as many channels with one single fader strip as required. For highest comfort, professional motorized faders for full automation of input channels are available on request.
The GRAPHITE two fader module comes with • 4 fader channels • Professional 100 mm fader, motorized 100 mm faders on request • ON / OFF / CUE / TB / SEL buttons • 4 programmable buttons - normally programmed as source A and B, PGM and REC bus select • Status indication LEDs of secondary buses, EQ, DYN and chan- nel overload • Professional 100 mm fader • Alphanumeric ultra-bright OLED displays with 2 lines and 16 characters each • Illuminated, free lettered push buttons
