The Balance 2-arm

(NEW) Turntable from Brinkmann

The NEW 2-arm Balance from Brinkmann offers the flexibility for two tonearm and cartridge combinations. The bearing has a hardened stainless steel axle that runs in sintered brass bushings
The 2-arm Balance is based on Brinkmann's all-time popular Balance model turntable
These brass bushings are widely used for bearings that call for optimal precision and frictionless run. Together with Brinkmann's choice of oil lubrication and their surface optimisations on both, axle and sintered brass, this proved to be the perfect solution for a smooth running and maintenance free turntable bearing. The bearing is enclosed in a POM damped housing which provides the only contact between bearing and plinth. This is intended as a good isolation of the bearing and keeps the resonance flow between the platter / bearing system and the plinth to a consequent controlled minimum.
The plinth is CNC machined from one solid piece of aluminium and holds both tonearm bases. The bases are fixed with an easy to use clamping mechanism and can be rotated to allow a convenient adjustment of the spindle to platter distance of the tonearm.
The plinth can be levelled with 3 resonance optimised spike screws
The spike screws close to the tonearm base allow for a free resonance discharge from the cartridge and tonearm through the tonearm base and plinth into the platform or rack. The third spike screw close to the bearing has a special copper insert that is optimised for the resonance flow from the platter and bearing into the plinth.

The 2-arm Balance also features Brinkmann's new Sinus motor
For over two decades Brinkmann relied on the wellregarded German manufacturer Papst to supply capstan motors for their belt drive turntables. Technically and musically Brinkmann had good results with this motor in combination with their proprietary analogue speed controller.

(NEW) Turntable from Brinkmann

Helmut Brinkmann’s extensive research and development on Brinkmann's direct drive motor for the “Oasis” and “Bardo” turntables gave him valuable insight into the control of magnetic fields and how to apply this knowledge to reduce cogging in a motor. It became apparent that the next logical step was to apply this knowledge in the design of a new motor for the belt drive turntables.
resolution and musicality. The frictionless run of the motor movement is readily apparent in the effortless flow of the music. The new motor generates more torque and is therefore able to reduce the start-up time to a few seconds, no problem for the new vacuum tube power supply “RöNT II”, which is also able to handle the power consumption of the direct drive motors.
The new “Sinus” motor is better suited to driving a high mass platter (almost 46 lb) like the former ones found in Brinkmann's “LaGrange” and “Balance” turntables, while the use of a 4-phase (4 times 90°) drive circuitry enables a very smooth rotation without cogging.
easy and quick exchange and adjustments are provided via a collar system
The arrangement of the driving coils and the neodymium magnets in combination with the drive circuit achieves 12 “pulses” per revolution.
Scope of delivery: turntable, screw-down record clamp, solidstate power supply, tools Options: tube power supply “RöNt”, additional arm bases with custom drilling.
Additionally a large rotating mass of 500 grams, achieved by using a nickel-plated steel motor body, works likes a flywheel. This drives the platter of the turntable with a very even force and reduces vibration.
