The high quality 1080p 3 Gb/s video output is perfect for distributing signals from medical devices such as MRI machines, endoscopes, and X-ray machines. a medically approved power supply (ITE Standard). Ensemble Designs has these power supplies available. Be sure to specify this when placing an order with your BrightEye Mitto rep. Nearly all medical devices have a 1080p digital output via DVI. Selecting a lesser resolution from the device in order to convert this signal to HD SDI results in the loss of subtle color differences and gray scale necessary to accurately evaluate the medical imagery. In addition, this imagery often has to travel great distances to classrooms and supporting hospitals for evaluation, making a fiber optic 3 Gb/s output a necessity. The BrightEye Mitto 3G Fiber, with its exclusive 3 Gb/s (1080p -1920x1200) HD SDI electrical and fiber optic output, is the perfect solution. Connect the 3G output from the medical device to the BrightEye Mitto via the DVI input port. Please note that Mitto is expecting a progressive format coming from a computer device. It will not work with an interlaced signal. Connect the loop through DVI output from the Mitto to the local monitor in the operating theater. If the Mitto is to be used inside an operating environment, it is a necessity that it be connected to 3 Gb/sec progressive DVI Medically Approved Power Supply (ITE Standard) From the Mitto front panel or in the Output Tab in the BrightEye Mac or BrightEye PC software, configure the HD Format to 1080p by clicking and holding the pull down bar. Select whether the standard is NTSC or PAL in the Standard pull down bar. In the Mode pull down bar, select 3G. If the surgeon or technician will be providing commentary during the procedure, a lapel mic may be connected directly into the audio input jack on the back of the unit. The audio will then be embedded into the SDI stream for distribution. The 3G SDI output of the Mitto is available electrically via the SDI output BNC. In addition, a fiber optic SDI output is available in the Mitto 3G Fiber. Many teaching hospitals will connect the electrical output to a control room for mixing with cameras and other graphical devices before distribution or for archival purposes. The fiber optic output is then routed to supporting hospitals or classrooms across campus, or crosscountry, maintaining the high quality necessary for proper evaluation and diagnosis. No need to show the entire computer desktop, select just the section you want to project. BrightEye Mitto converts the selected area to SD or HD SDI video for input to a video router, projector or production switcher. BrightEye Mitto’s audio delay lets you adjust the audio stream with respect to the video and get the lip-sync right, which is crucial for Skype applications. Missionary Interviews via Skype Made Easy Use BrightEye Mitto to show an interview with a missionary or off-site guest. You can select just the Skype™ or YouTube™ video window and feed that to Mitto and then to a projector or video switcher. A superior quality scan converter, BrightEye Mitto uses new, proprietary scaling technology and exclusive multi-tap filtering to ensure the video output looks superior. The filters automatically adjust in accordance with the conversion being performed. Image Magnification System Mitto Scan Converter VGA, DVI, or HDMI SD or HD SDI Video Program Out PowerPoint or song library on PC or Mac with Mitto application Production Switcher 10 Scan Conversion for Teleprompting Cost Effective and Simple Effective Teleprompting Solution The BrightEye Mitto scan converter can be used with applications such as Microsoft Word or PowerPoint™ to provide an effective teleprompting solution without breaking the bank. Compose the script for teleprompting using word processing software such as Microsoft Word. For best results, use a bold, sans serif font of sufficient size to be easily read. Double spacing the document may help in making scrolling text easier to read. Using the selection tool in the BrightEye software, or the front panel controls on the Mitto itself, define a “slot” through which the text will scroll. This window should be roughly three or four lines of text tall to allow the talent to see more than the single line of text he is speaking. Once the area is defined, Mitto will scale the text to fill the monitor, making the script easy to read. Displaying the script for prompting can be accomplished by either placing a flat screen display just under the camera lens facing the talent, or by placing a half silvered mirror in front of the camera lens. A monitor can then be set on the floor in such a way that it reflects on the mirror for the talent to read. To scroll the text as the talent is reading, simply use the scroll bars in the word processing software. The text will scroll through the window as the presenter reads. Combine BrightEye 72 with any HDMI monitor for high-end display applications in live event and post. BrightEye 72 accepts an SD, 1.5 Gb/s HD or 3 Gb/s HD SDI digital signal and outputs HDMI. Plus it displays open captions, timecode and audio presence. Front panel controls include: complete proc amp, built-in test signals for use in aligning the monitor, graticule, H/V pulse delay, on screen audio VU meters, timecode burn in, AFD indicator and open caption decoding. BrightEye 72 can display open captions on any HDMI video monitor. 608 or 708 caption data is decoded and displayed on-screen. Horizontal and vertical split modes provide an easy way to see data in the vertical and horizontal intervals, including audio and closed caption data blocks. A special Mirror Flip Output mode can be enabled, causing the output image to be flipped left to right for use with on-stage talent. Open captions are displayed correctly when Mirror mode is selected. Use BrightEye 72 in applications where you need to adjust the color temperature of on-set monitors so they look right on-camera. For set-ups using 3G, the issue of monitoring the signal becomes a challenge. The BrightEye 72 provides a convenient way to monitor any type of digital video signal. Order the BrightEye 72-F if you need an optical input. 22 SDI Embedded Audio, HDMI and Surround Sound Audio presence is reported and on-screen VU meters show all 16 audio channels. If audio or Dolby E are embedded on the SDI input, audio is passed through on the HDMI output. The HDMI spec supports 8 channels of audio. The BrightEye 72 monitors 16 channels of SDI embedded audio, but outputs 8 channels per the HDMI specification. The first 8 channels of the SDI audio stream are output to HDMI. You can connect the HDMI output to a surround sound speaker system by maintaining a specific channel order. This ensures that the correct audio signals are sent to the proper speakers. Output Mapping of HDMI Audio The output mapping of the BrightEye 72 HDMI audio is as follows: CH 1 Front Left CH 2 Front Right CH 3 Low Frequency Effects CH 4 Front Center CH 5 Left Rear CH 6 Right Rear For those using 7.1 surround: CH 7 Left Rear Center (or Left Front Center) CH 8 Right Rear Center (or Right Front Center) Features • Turn Any Monitor into a High-End Q/C Monitor • Timecode Burn In • Use with HD or SD Monitors, VTRs and Projectors • On-screen Controls • HDMI Output – Monitor Any Digital Feed, Even 3G • Audio Level Meters for 16 Channel Monitoring • Use with HD or SD SDI Signals • H & V Shift for Easier Trouble Shooting • 3G HD, Level A Supported • Graticule Overlay • Caption Decoding - Open Caption Display for 608 and 708 Closed Caption Data • Mirror Output Mode for On-Stage Talent • Color Corrector – Adjust On-Set Monitors • AFD Indicator • Analog Audio Outputs • Use in Post with 4:4:4 Material • Optical input available on BrightEye 72-F 23 Camera Color Correction Using the BrightEye 72 for Adjusting the Color Temperature of a Monitor The Need for Color Correction Example of Adjustment Process When working in an environment that has poor lighting or a mix of color temperatures, the camera may need color correction. The camera may also need contrast and brightness adjustments that cannot be made through the camera controls or codec. Similarly, putting a television monitor on set where it will appear in the scene on camera presents a difficult challenge. It is easy to make the monitor too bright. Take the HD SDI signal from the camera and send it to the BrightEye 72. Then take the HDMI output from the BrightEye 72 and send it back to the codec. After the scene is lit and the camera is white balanced to the studio lighting, the on-camera talent will look correct. But unless the color temperature of the monitor matches the studio lighting, the color in the images on the monitor will be incorrect when in the camera shot. The face of the monitor is an actual source of light, while everything else in the set is reflecting light from the lighting instruments. If you hold a white card in front of the monitor next to the 100% white flag in color bars, you can adjust the monitor until they match. Chroma, Hue, Brightness, Contrast Using the BrightEye 72's Color Corrector, you can color balance any HDMI monitor without ever touching a single control on the monitor itself. You can make both gross and fine adjustments to chroma, hue, brightness, contrast and other settings, such as mirror and test patterns. The BrightEye 72 has a Processing Amp that allows for substantial adjustment to the camera images. Note that the controls are all accessible through the front panel of the BrightEye 72 using the On Screen Display. Or you can use BrightEye Mac or PC software to connect to the BrightEye 72's USB port. 24 Select the 20/80 Test Pattern from the BrightEye 72's test signal generator. The 20% Gray and Black regions will be used to set black balance. The 80% Gray (nearly white) is used to adjust the gain of each of the Red, Green, and Blue channels. With the camera, compose a shot of the monitor with the 20% region filling the screen. There are full screen 20% and 80% patterns as well if you are working with small monitors. Viewing the camera output on a vectorscope, adjust the RGB offsets to collapse the chroma to a single dot. This is best done using just Red and Blue, leaving Green as the reference. Next, frame the shot on the 80% segment. Repeat the adjustment procedure to collapse the chroma, this time using the RGB Gain controls. Select the 10 step grayscale chipchart or SMPTE Bars on BrightEye 72's internal test signal generator. While viewing the monitor through the camera, use BrightEye 72's Proc Amp controls (Brightness, Contrast, Chroma) to achieve proper exposure. The Swiss Army Knife™ of video conversion, the BrightEye 90-A is a realtime processor that changes video formats without rendering. Simply set the BrightEye 90-A to output your event or facility's preferred HD or SD standard. The BrightEye 90-A will accommodate whatever input you connect – analog composite, SD SDI or HD SDI. After setting the output standard, BrightEye 90-A automatically converts the selected input to the correct standard for your event. The HDMI, SDI and composite outputs are all extremely high quality, suitable for any part of your signal chain. BrightEye 90-A will upconvert, downconvert, cross convert, or act as an ARC, as needed. A special Mirror Flip Output mode can be enabled, causing the output image to be flipped left to right for use with on-stage talent. The built-in Frame Synchronizer allows you to feed asynchronous signals to the BrightEye 90-A. An external reference input allows genlock to a house reference. All vertical interval data and closed captioning is faithfully passed. It’s easy to convert between various HD standards, whether 720p or 1080i. Simply select the output standard you need and connect the input – that’s all there is to it. Using the Manual Scaling controls allows video sizing necessary for picture-in-picture insertion or web distribution. Upconverting to High Definition Feed the analog composite or SD SDI output of a camera to a BrightEye 90-A and upconvert to HD. You can take the HDMI and HD SDI signals from the BrightEye 90-A into your switcher or projection system. Upconverting existing SD equipment lets you leverage the equipment you already have and operate in the HD domain. While some cameras may have firewire out, using the video output and upconverting before distribution is preferable since longer cable runs can be achieved and quality is superior. Additionally, the BrightEye 90-A’s reference input allows you to time the upconverted video output for use with a production switcher. Downconverting to Standard Definition BrightEye 90-A will downconvert any type of HD signal and provides SD SDI, HDMI and an analog composite output, all suitable for broadcast or monitoring. 38 Aspect Ratio Conversion For converting between SD 4:3 and HD 16:9, BrightEye 90-A has you covered. Just select the output standard you need and connect the input. Audio Processing Made Simple BrightEye 90-A handles both embedded audio and eight channels of analog audio. Sixteen channels of embedded audio are supported in BrightEye 90-A. If the incoming video has embedded audio, the audio will be safely bypassed around the video processing and lipsync will be preserved. Audio mixing is available for two of the four embedded groups of audio. The analog audio I/O ports can be configured for eight channels of incoming audio or for eight channels of audio output. The audio mixer can be used for analog audio as well. Mixer controls are accessed through BrightEye Mac or PC software. Easy Audio Monitoring Audio monitoring is easy with BrightEye 90-A’s convenient 3.5 mm mini jack. Select the audio channels you want to monitor from the front panel and plug in a headset. Front Panel and Software Control Input selection, gain control, and test pattern controls are provided through the front panel interface. Audio presence LEDs indicate which channels are detected. Controls for crop, letterbox and pillarbox are accessed from the front panel or BrightEye Mac or PC software. Video and audio levels and the audio mixer can be adjusted through BrightEye Mac or PC software.
