Pressure – Min. Pressure Max. Pressure Please note the pressure must be in absolute units (gauge pressure + 1 bar(g)) Maximum pressure = maximum working pressure at the expansion vessel Minimum pressure = expansion vessel gas charges (normally dependent on the system static height) + 0.2 bar(g) 0.7 bar(g) Please note the expansion vessel efficiency must not exceed the maximum stated by Flamco UK Ltd. Sizing charts have taken this into consideration Maximum vessel efficiency Range Size Litres Efficiency Flexcon 2-600 0.625 (62.5%) Flexcon 800 0.5 (50%) Flexcon 1000 0.4 (40%) Airfix P 2-500 0.6 (60%) Airfix P 750-1000 0.5 (50%) Airfix DE 50-3000 0.6 (60%) Example (Basic Sizing) System  Water content = 1000litres Temperature = 82oC Maximum working Pressure = 3 bar(g)  Maximum expansion vessel sizing (Gas charge 1 bar(g)). Heating systems – Flexcon standard expansion vessels. Sizing to BS 7074 Heating and Chilled Water Sealed Systems up to 5 bar(g) Using the following criteria far calculations: Water content = system water content + 10% Coefficient of expansion = use system highest temperature (not mean temp) Maximum pressure = safety valve setting – 10% (e.g. for 3 bar(g) Safety valve maximum pressure = 2.7 bar(g)) Miximum pressure = expansion vessel gas charge + 0.2 bar(g) (0.5 + 0.2 = 0.7 bar(g) minimum) For elevated temperature systems it is necessary to ensure that the water at the highest point in the system does not flash to steam. An anti-Flash margin, usually 11oC, should be added to the flow temperature. The corresponding vapour pressure for this temperature should then be added to the static height of the system. This new minimum pressure must be used for the expansion calculations and will protect the system in accordance with BS 7074 part 2. If in doubt please contact Flamco UK Ltd. for advice. Together with the clench ring on vessels 2litres - 80litres the design offers a high quality and reliable product. The rolling action of the Flexcon diaphragm provides the vessel with a longer life. For high specification installations consider the Flamco digital upgrade. The upgrade features include: • Max. working pressure: 6.0 bar(g) • Max. vessel temperature (diaphragm): 70ºC. • Max. supply temperature (boiler): 90ºC. • Max. working temperature (design): 120ºC.
