INSTRUCTION MANUAL FOR USE OF CAR SEAT “HAWAI” HAWA I PLEASE, READ THIS INSTRUCTION MANUAL CAREFULLY BEFORE USING THE CAR SEAT AND KEEP IT IN A SAFE PLACE FOR FUTURE REFERENCE. This product represents "universal" child restraint system for use in motor vehicles fitted with approved 3-point car safety belts with retractor. It is approved under No Е13–44R-045061 and is classified in three weight groups: - Group I, integral – for children weighing 9-18 kg - Group II, non-integral – for children weighing 15-25 kg - Group III, non-integral – for children weighing 22-36 kg The approximate age for each of the above mentioned groups is for group I - from 9 months up to 4 years age, group II - 3 to 6 years age and group III - from 4 to 11 years age. It must be used in forward facing position in the vehicle. The car seat holds the child in such position that even when the child is asleep, he/she receives the required protection. It is mandatory to use the 5-point harness if the child weighs 9-18 kg (group I). WARNING! The car seat is suitable for use only if the approved vehicles are fitted with three-point static belt or one with a retractable mechanism that meets the requirements of Regulation № 16 of the Economic Commission for Europe of the United Nations and the acts of national legislation. This child restraint is designed and manufactured in compliance with the requirements of Regulation 44 of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe concerning the safe transportation of children, the provisions of the product safety directive 2001/95/EU of the European Parliament and The Council and Directive 91/671/EEC "Compulsory use of seat belts and child restraints systems for child occupants of power driven vehicles" of the European Parliament and The Council, as well as the normative acts of the national legislation. WARNING! Your child will be under maximum protection of this system, if you follow these instructions and recommendations thoroughly! Following the instructions will ensure your child getting the maximum safety designed into the restraint system during the time of use of the product. Do not forget that no system can provide absolute protection of injury in the case of a crash or road accident. Drive with attention, when there is a child in your vehicle! You are solely responsible for the safety of your child, if you fail to follow exactly the instructions and safety recommendations in this manual! Pay special attention to the warnings and apply all necessary precautions in order to avoid the risk of possible serious injury to your child thus ensuring its safety! If you fail to follow the safety recommendations, the instructions for use, assembly and maintenance, it can lead to serious injury or damage to your child. Make sure that everybody who uses this car seat reads, understands and follows the manual. NOTE: The construction of this universal car seat is meant for mounting on most automobile seats. A complete suitability exists if the manufacturer has declared this in the accompanying documentation of the vehicle. If you are not sure, you can consult with the retailer, the manufacturer of the car seat or the operating service. 1 INSTRUCTIONS AND WARNINGS FOR SAFETY 1. Attention! Never leave the child unattended by an adult! Whenever a child in the seat, there must be presence, control and direct supervision of an adult! 2. This car seat must be installed only by adult! 3. Follow the user instructions thoroughly in order to prevent possible injuries of your child! 4. Read the vehicle instructions for information about the air bags and the conditions for transportation of children. NEVER USE THIS CAR SEAT ON FRONT OR OTHER PASSENGER SEAT EQUIPPED WITH AIR BAG! FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THAT RULE MAY LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURIES OR DEATH! 5. This car seat is suitable for use with its safety harness for children weighing 9-18 kg (approximate age 9months to 4 years). 6. The car seat may be used without its safety harness for children weighing 15-36 kg (approximate age 3-11 years). 7. Do not use the car seat if the child’s head is above the top edge of the vehicle seat! 8. The car seat must be installed only on forward facing seats and not on rearward or side facing ones. 9. This car seat must be installed only in forward facing position with the seat belts of the vehicle. 10. To be used only in vehicles fitted with approved 3-point diagonal/lap/static/with retractor safety belts! 11. IMPORTANT! Do not use the car seat if the safety belts are not well fitted and the car seat is not well and properly installed in the car! 12. Do not use other anchor points except the ones described in this manual! 13. Always make sure that the child is secured with the safety harness while in the car seat. 14. For maximum protection, the rear seat position is recommended as the safest position in most vehicles for installing a child restraint. 15. In case the vehicle seat where the car seat will be placed is foldable, first make sure that it is fully unfolded and fixed in upright position before placing the child car seat! 16. The car seat must be installed in a way that it can’t be entrapped by sliding vehicle seat or door. 17. Make sure that both child’s safety belt and vehicle lap/3-point safety belt are properly tightened so as to ensure maximum protection for your child. Check that the belt webbing has not become twisted. Make sure that the belt webbing does not get caught in the door or rubs against sharp corners of the seat or car body. If the belt is frayed or cut, replace it with a new one. 18. The car seat must be properly fixed to the vehicle seat even if you are not going to use it otherwise it can injure the passengers in case of a sudden stop. 19. The safety belts of the car seat must be adjusted well according to child’s height and weight. 20. Do not put additional pads or blankets in the car seat, as they may hinder the safety of the seat! 21. While the vehicle is in motion, do not take the child out of the car seat and do not give him food or liquids. 2 22. Do not leave the buckle partially locked. In emergencies and incidents it is very important the child to be removed quickly from the car seat and the car! The buckle of the safety belts is designed in a way you can quickly and easily unlock. This should be explained to your child and teach him not to play with the buckle. 23. If you find some damages or instability of any part of this car seat, discontinue its use until the problem is fixed! 24. The plastic and other hard parts of the car seat must be installed in such a way that they won’t get caught by a sliding seat or a door of the vehicle. 25. Always make sure that you are not carrying any unsecured objects, especially on the back shelf, which, in case of an accident, may injure the car’s occupants. 26. Do not use this car seat without its seat cover and do not replace it with a new one, unless supplied by the manufacturer. The fabric parts are integral parts of the restraint system and its safety features! 27. Do not remove stickers and warnings – they contain important information! 28. This product is not a toy! Do not allow your child to play with it! 29. Do not oil the buckles and joint parts of safety belt. 30. Do not use spare parts other than the ones supplied by the manufacturer. This child restraint should not be modified or adapted with new fittings, without previous authorization by the competent authority. 31. In case of a problem with the car seat, please contact the authorized dealer or service department of the manufacturer. Do not attempt to make repair on your own. 32. After a violent impact the seat and belts may be damaged. Therefore, they must be replaced with new. 33. Never use a second-hand car seat or second-hand spare parts! The car seat may have been in a violent impact or car crash or the plastic may be old. This can endanger the safety of your child! 34. It is recommended to cover the car seat if the vehicle is parked under strong sun shine – extreme sun exposure will make the plastic to deteriorate and the fabric to fade. Please check that the child restraint has not become too hot before placing your child seat. 35. Do not leave the car seat near sources of strong heat! 36. Do not store the car seat in wet environment for longer periods! 37. This car seat must be used only as a child restraint system in vehicles – do not use it for other purposes! 38. Store the car seat in a safe dry place. Do not place heavy objects on top and prevent the contact with corroding substances. 39. In case of long trips, make frequent stops, children get tired easily. 40. The packaging of the product must be kept out of the reach of babies and children at the time of and after unpacking. In this way you will avoid the risk of strangulation! 3 PARTS DIAGRAM fig. 1 INSTALLATION OF THE SEAT IN A CAR ATTENTION! The car seat should be placed in the direction of movement and to be secured to the passenger car seat with a three-point belt (lap and diagonal) for adults in the front or back seat. Place the car seat only on forward facing seats, and not on rearward or side facing! fig. 2 According to the weight of the child car seat can be used in three different versions: 1. Group I – The car seat is suitable for children weighing 9-18 kg and is used with backrest (fig.3). The car seat is attached using a 3-point car seat belt, and then the child is placed in the seat and restrained with the 5-point harness of the car seat. fig. 3 4 2. Group II – The car seat is suitable for children weighing 15-25 kg and is used with backrest (fig.4). The harness of the car seat is removed and the child is restraint with 3-point car seat belt. fig. 4 fig. 5 3. Group III - The car seat is suitable for children weighing 22-36 kg. The backrest could be removed from the car seat and to be used as a booster (fig.5). The child is restraint with the 3-point car seat belt. SAFETY HARNESS Correct shoulder strap height IMPORTANT! Always check that the shoulder straps are at the correct height for your child. The child’s shoulders should be below the slot for the harness. fig. 6 Belt away through the slot of the backrest and front of the seat fabric and re-thread through higher or lower slot to find it at the proper height (fig.6). Thread the harness strap back onto the harness connector at the back of the seat. Repeat the same processes for the other harness strap. Make sure both of the straps go through slots at the same height. 5 Adjusting the lenght of the straps fig 7 The harness should be adjusted as tightly as possible without causing discomfort to your child (fig.7). The harness is slackened by pressing the lever (under the seat cover) on the front of the seat and simultaneously pull both shoulder straps forward until you reach the desired position. Release the button and the belts will be locked. For further tightening pull the free end of the front belt. Fastening the safety seat buckle Attach the two metal sections of the buckle connectors together and slot them in the buckle until you hear a “click” (fig.8). fig. 8 Backrest removal fig. 9 Turn the backrest to 180 °, to separate the seat and the backrest (fig.9). The seat can be installed separately in the car. 6 FITTING THE CAR SEAT WITH THE 3-POINT LAP AND DIAGONAL SEAT BELT Group І / 9-18 kg Place the child safety seat on the vehicle’s seat ensuring it is firmly pressed against the car seat backrest. fig. 10 Pull out the car safety belt , pass the lap belt of the passenger seat under the armrest of the car seat, thread through one of the openings along with the diagonal belt, then through the plastic backrest, pull the other end and lock in the belt buckle (fig.10). Tighten the lap and diagonal belt. To release the seat, follow the above steps in reverse order. IMPORTANT! Make sure that the passenger seat belt is not twisted and that the fabric does not impede in any way the movement and / or installation of the safety belt of the passenger seat to the car seat. Belts – of the car seat and the car - should not be twisted, tangled or pressed by the car door or any other part of the vehicle. fig. 11 Place the child in the car seat, put shoulder straps, attach the two metal sections of the buckle connectors together and slot them in the buckle until you hear a “click” (fig.11). 7 INSTALLATION OF THE CAR SEAT WITH LOCKING MECHANISM FOR THE DIAGONAL BELT OF THE PASSENGER SEAT Group ІІ / 15-25 kg IMPORTANT! Before installing the car seat on the passenger seat, remove the harness of the car seat and then install the car seat as described in the instructions! Place the child safety seat on the vehicle’s seat and make sure that it stands firmly. The backrest of the car seat should rests firmly on the vehicle seat backrest. fig. 12 Place the child in the car seat. Pull the seat belt of the car, thread the lap belt under the armrest, pass through the child's hips and pull the diagonal belt over the child's chest. Pull both lap and diagonal belts in the other armrest and lock them in the buckle (fig.14). Tighten the lap and diagonal belt IMPORTANT! Make sure that the passenger seat belt is not twisted, tangled or pressed by the car door or any other part of the vehicle, and that the fabric does not impede in any way the movement and / or installation of safety belts of the passenger seat to the car seat. To release the child from the seat, unbuckled safety belts. INSTALLATION OF THE BOOSTER Group ІІІ / 22-36 kg IMPORTANT! For the children of this group is used only the seat and it is necessary to remove the back rest of the child seat. Place the child in the booster. Pull the seat belt of the car, thread the lap belt under the armrest, pass through the child's hips and pull the diagonal belt over the child's chest. Pull both lap and diagonal belts in the other armrest as shown in fig.13 and lock them in the buckle. Tighten the lap and diagonal belt. IMPORTANT! Make sure that the passenger seat belt is not twisted, tangled or pressed by the car door or any other part of the vehicle, and that the fabric does not impede in any way the movement and / or installation of safety belts of the passenger seat to the car seat. Failure to follow the instructions of this manual will not only guarantee the safety of the car seat and the child in the vehicle, but can increase the risk of serious injury or death in the event of a sharp turn, sudden stop or crash! 8 CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS 1. Regularly check the locking and fixing mechanisms, the belts and the upholstery, in order to make sure they are not worn out or damaged. 2. If you find that some part of the car seat has damage, immediately discontinue its use. 3. To clean the upholstery, plastic or metal parts, use a damp soft cloth or sponge and mild detergent. 4. Never use aggressive or abrasive detergents. 5. Always let the cleaned car seat to fully dry out before use. 6. The fabric parts can be hand washed at 30°С, using mild detergent. Do not machine wash or tumble dry! 7. Do not bleach, iron or spin. 8. The buckle can be washed with lukewarm water. Do not use any lubricants 9. The belts may be cleaned only with mild soap and damp cloth. 10. Do not soak decals and stickers. Do not remove them, they contain important information. 11. Do not use dissolvent, chemical or oiling substances for any part of the car seat. 12. Do not use this car seat without upholstery! It is an integral part of the car seat and can’t be replaced except with an original one supplied by the manufacturer. 13. Do not use the car seat if it has been in an accident. It is possible that it may have structural damages which can be very dangerous. The car seat must be checked by a specialist before you use it again. 14. Too much sun exposure may cause the fabric colors to fade and the plastic to deteriorate. 15. Do not leave your car seat in the vehicle if you don’t plan to use it. 16. Do not place any objects on the seat when you store it, because you may damage it. Keep it in a place where children can not reach. 17. It is advisable to conduct a thorough review and complete prophylactic of the service specialist, especially after prolonged storage or need to be used for another child. 18. For problems with normal operation, refer for consultation or repair to authorized services.
