January 16, 2014 Product Instruction: P-HDM-M-15, -18, -20, -23, -25 and -30 Attention: This product is directional and must be installed correctly in order to function. Please read below. These lengths of Plenum rated High Definition cables have built in send and receive chipsets in both ends of the cable. This is the reason the mold is very large in comparison to shorter length cables. These precision cables have a directional transmit and receive circuit and must be plugged in correctly to deliver the HDMI® performance you expect. The product has multiple markings to show the installer the direction. Each mold is marked ‘Source’ or ‘Sink’ and the Sink side is also molded with a large “TV” to show that is the display side of the cable. The Transmit side is labeled “Source” and must be plugged into the signal origination side of the circuit, typically your Blu-Ray, Set top box or HDMI switch. The Receive side is labeled “TV” and must be plugged into the signal receiver side of the circuit, typically your Television or Projector. This product requires 5 volts DC from pin 18 of the source and display. If this is plugged into a passive junction, such as a wall plate or panel interface, there may not be the required power and the cable will not work. If patching from a panel or plate, ensure the patch cable is 6 feet or less in length. This product is rated to allow installation in Plenum airspace and also in-wall for the US and Canada, ensure your polarity is correct prior to installation and always test the cable / equipment together before installation to eliminate that dreaded HDMI incompatibility issue from arising after the walls are closed. Ensure you support these heavy cables! Allowing these to hang off the back of a device can result in broken connector shrouds or worse yet – broken device receptacles. If using cable ties it is recommended to hand tighten instead of using an automatic device or tie gun. The maximum cable length that can be ATC certified per the latest HDMI® Specification is 12m. These cables do not support CEC. These cables do support HDMI® Video and Audio to the published parameters.
