TH60 Throat Microphone Owner’s Manual 9/1/2003 ”2003, VOCOMOTION. VOCOMOTION 1100 Church Street #501 Evanston, Illinois 60201 GETTING STARTED WITH THE TH60 Thank you for purchasing the TH60 Throat Microphone. The TH60 is the first throat microphone designed specifically with performers in mind. This section outlines step-by-step instruction to quickly show you how to connect your TH60 system to a sound system while introducing you to some of its features. Belt-Pack Setup 1. Install 9-volt battery by removing battery door on the back of the unit and attaching battery to the batteryclip. Replace battery door. 2. Plug 1/8” gold-plated connector of the throat microphone into the small connector on the belt-pack. 3. Plug output cable into 1/4” output connector on the belt pack. 4. Turn unit on by sliding the twoposition slide switch up. (note: unit will not power-up and lights will not light unless 1/4” cable is connected to belt-pack output). Throat Microphone Setup 1. Hold collar up against your throat (low) with the plastic capsules aligned on either side of your adam’s apple (sorry ladies: where your adam’s apple would be if you were a man). 2. Secure the collar around your throat by hooking the collar in the back 3. The collar can be resized to fit your neck by sliding the plastic adjustment guides in the back of the collar. Now you know the basic setup for your new TH60 Throat Microphone. If any problems occur, please refer to the Troubleshooting section of this manual. The rest of the manual goes into greater detail on features and applications. Please read the rest of the manual to help you make the most of your TH60. ~ WARNING! Mixing boards and microphone pre-amplifiers feature a switch/option called “Phantom Power.” DO NOT turn on Phantom Power if the TH60 is connected or you will damage the TH60 and possibly injure yourself. ACCESSORIES FURNISHED ACCESSORIES Pelican Protective Carrying Case – The TH60 carrying case is watertight/airtight to 30 and is constructed of light weight space age structural resin. OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES Replacement Collar Assembly – If you are very hard on your equipment and you are using the TH60 very frequently, you may wish to purchase an extra Collar Assembly to have around in case you have a problem with the one you already have. All connections in the Collar Assembly are reinforced to provide extra strength over many uses. In the event you do have a problem with a Collar Assembly, contact VOCOMOTION for all repairs. 1/4” to XLR Adapter – If you will be connecting the belt-pack directly to a mixing board or a microphone pre-amplifier, you will need this adapter (or a direct box) to convert the 1/4” unbalanced output of the TH60 into an XLR connection. TROUBLESHOOTING No sound is coming out - Power light does not go on - Make sure you have a working 9-volt battery installed. Check to see if unit power is turned on (green light should be illuminated). Make sure output is connected to sound system. Make sure collar is connected to belt-pack. You may have the collar on backwards. The collar only has one side that will pick up sound, the side with the plastic washer on it. Make sure that your output cable is plugged into the belt-pack. For power-savings, the unit powers down when there is no output cable connected.
