Mechanical timers offer simple on/off programming of lamps and devices, in a proven design that has stood the test of time. Simply select your on and off times by pulling up or pushing down the appropriate pins, and then turn the dial to the current time of day. The timer will then turn your device on and off at the times you programmed. Simple, reliable, and cost-effective technology.
Digital Timers offer a step up in features and functionality from mechanical timers. Users can program the timer by individual days, or by groups of days like weekdays, weekends, or full week, with digital accuracy to the minute. Additionally, users can select random programming, which slightly alters programmed on and off times to avoid a “programmed look”. Some also come with countdown timers, so users can leave a device on for a period of time before turning off automatically at the end of the countdown period. This advanced technology is for users who want more customization and features.

Light sensing timers are best used outdoors in locations where they have easy visibility to sunlight so they can see the changes taking place in natural daylight. Best for outdoor lighting, these devices power on at sundown and turn off later at a user-selected time, or at dawn. Options for basic plug-in, models with multiple outlets and a ground stake, and models with a remote control to override the programmed settings. Countdown timers are quite simply the easiest outdoor timers to program and use.
Countdown timers offer a simple way to leave devices on for a period of time and then turn off automatically at the end of the timing cycle.
