To Change the Battery While in a Call Note: Take care not to short the battery contacts with metal objects such as coins, keys or paper clips. Replacing the Battery Pack Note: Do not use the PWR key to end a call because you will turn your telephone off and you will not receive calls until you turn the telephone back on. • Press the END key. To End a Call When you are on a call and you hear subdued ringing, then a second call is coming in. Press this button. Replacing the Battery Pack Note: You can assign the mute function to a different key sequence. Contact your system administrator. You mute the microphone when you want to hear, but not be heard. If your telephone is muted, MUTED appears on the display. • Press the FCN key and then press 1. 2. Press the LINE key. 3. Press the line number of the second call. To Mute the Microphone/Restore Voice Pickup The telephone has two volume levels: low and high. High volume is automatically set two levels higher than the low volume. Toggle between high and low volume by pressing the VOL key while in a call. 1. Press the HOLD key to put your first call on hold. To Answer a Second Call When the telephone rings or vibrates it is because you have a call. A line indicator on the display may flash and the display may show information about the call, such as the caller’s name and extension. 1. Press FCN until VOLUME appears. • Press the START key and hold the telephone to your ear. 2. Use keypad to select the low volume level from 1 (softest) to 8 (loudest). To Adjust the Volume To Answer a Call You need to periodically recharge the Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery pack in the telephone.The NiMH battery pack gives you two hours of talk time or 80 hours of standby time. Standby time is when the telephone is turned on, but you are not using it. About the Battery Pack Note: Your telephone system may require you to select a line by pressing the LINE key, followed by a line number. 3. Dial the number. 2. Wait for dial tone. 1. Press the START key. To Place a Call When you turn the telephone off, you hear a single chirp. If you accidentally turn your telephone off during a conversation, you can restore your conversation by pressing the PWR key and then the START key, provided the person you are talking to has not hung up. When you turn the telephone on, you hear a double chirp and your extension and the No Svc message briefly appear.When the message disappears, you can place and receive calls. • Press the PWR key for one second. To Turn the Telephone On/Off Using the Telephone Note: Only NiMH battery packs with a YELLOW label on the handset contact side can be charged in the stand. If the indicator light is fast flashing with a telephone or battery pack in the slot, make sure the battery pack has a YELLOW label. The stand operates best in a 10°C to 30°C (50°F to 85°F) environment. Do not expose it to freezing temperatures or to direct sunlight. The stand is shipped with the appropriate power supply for your location. Connect the stand to an appropriate wall outlet via its power supply and it’s ready for use. Do not place anything in the stand other than the telephone because you might damage the contacts. Bent contacts can keep the telephone from charging. When you are not using your telephone, keep it turned off and in the stand. To charge your battery pack, place the telephone in the Dual Charging Stand.The Dual Charging Stand is a two-slot desktop charger that will fully charge the battery packs in approximately two hours. Charging the Battery Pack • Press any key except PWR or End. To Answer a Call • Plug the headset into the jack on the side of the telephone. To Connect the Headset You may want to use the optional headset in noisy environments or if you need to have your hands free while talking on the telephone.The headset is specially designed to work with the MobileLAN voice 2 wireless telephone.We do not recommend using any other headsets. Using the Headset You have a voice mail message. MSG You can also place a single spare battery pack in the rear slot. You can place the telephone in the front compartment facing forward.The telephone may be on or off during charging. 2. Decide which slot you want to charge first. The first battery pack you insert into a slot is charged first. 1. Place the Dual Charging Stand on a flat, horizontal surface. To Charge the Battery Pack Your battery charge is low. Replace or recharge the battery pack. You will hear an alarm when the telephone cannot receive or place calls. You may be outside of the coverage area. Walk back into the coverage area. You will hear a restore tone that indicates service is re-established. It may have finished charging the battery pack or it may be turned off. The battery pack in the slot is charging. On Off Description State The Dual Charging Stand has two indicator lights, one for each charging slot. Do not use any chemical cleaners.They can harm the plastic shell. You can also use isopropyl alcohol to clean the telephone. Do not rub the keypad characters too vigorously or you will significantly degrade legibility. Use a Q-tip to clean the battery contacts. Do not exert undue pressure on the battery contacts while wiping. If necessary, you can use a mild detergent solution, such as a general-purpose glass or surface-type cleaner, to clean the exterior surfaces.Wipe away any detergent residue with a clean water-dampened cloth. Clean the exterior surfaces with a cloth that is slightly moistened with water. Note: Turn off the telephone and unplug the stand before you clean them.Never immerse the telephone or stand in water. Never directly spray the telephone or stand. There are no serviceable parts in the telephone or stand. Do not open the telephone case or disassemble the stand or you will void your warranty. The telephone and Dual Charging Stand are designed to withstand the wear and tear of normal use; however, avoid dropping the telephone or knocking it against hard surfaces. Carry the telephone in a holster or carrying case to help protect it. Maintenance
