TMS series Transportation The TMS-Low subwoofer is supplied with heavy duty wheels to aid transportation and the horn flare is specially shaped to allow the TMS-High enclosure to be stowed in the horn flare to aid when loading the system in and out of a venue. To fit the wheels, remove the blanking screws fitted to the rear of the cabinet and use these to secure the wheels. Tighten all fixings.
Amplifier considerations TMS series loudspeaker enclosures should be driven by high quality power amplifiers designed for true professional use. Power amplifiers should be capable of delivering long term broadband power equal to the loudspeaker’s program power rating at its stated nominal impedance. The use of under-powered amplifiers must be avoided as heavily clipped signals can cause permanent loudspeaker damage. Amplifiers should be capable of delivering a minimum of 400 watts / channel @ 8ohms for the TMSHigh and 1000 watts / channel @ 8 ohms for the TMS-Low. L

TMS series System controllers TMS systems should be used with Turbosound LMS-D2X series loudspeaker management systems, other good quality electronic crossovers or DSP amplifiers to provide improved performance as well as vital operating and system security features. If you do not have a crossover, please contact your Turbosound dealer for further details. Turbosound LMS-D2X series controllers provide factory presets optimised for TMS loudspeakers for convenience. When using third party crossovers please ensure that the crossover frequency is set no lower than 200Hz. Please visit our website at www.turbosound.com to download the latest presets for your TMS loudspeaker system. Setup procedure for LMS series controllers: 1. Download and install the presets for TMS loudspeakers from the Turbosound website www.turbosound.com. 2. Power up the controller(s) and associated power amplifiers. 3. Press RECALL to select the appropriate program from the preset menu using the ‘A’ ROTARY ENCODER. 4. Press RECALL again to accept the preset. The controller will un-mute and is then ready for use. Setup procedure for RACKDP-50 amplifiers: 1. Download the RACKDP presets from the Turosound website www.turbosound.com 2. Power up the amplifier 3. Connect the amplifier to the PC via USB and run the TurboDrive software 4. Select an amplifier channel and press ‘load factory preset’ to load the program into that amplifier channel 5. Ensure that the loudspeaker wiring is correct for bridged operation (1+/2+) or unbridged operation (1+/1-) 6. Connect your loudspeakers.
Loudspeaker Placement In order to avoid the possibility of feedback locate your microphones behind the loudspeakers and do not point microphones directly at the front of a loudspeaker. When using speaker stands, try to raise the loudspeakers as high as practically possible (at least higher than the heads of the audience) since people are very good absorbers of sound, especially at high frequencies. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: make sure that any speaker stands you use are capable of taking the weight of the loudspeaker, and that stands are placed on a flat, level and stable surface. Make sure that the legs do not present a trip hazard. Take care when lifting the speakers on to the stand; ask someone else to help you if needed. The same applies to loudspeakers mounted on straight poles on top of bass cabinets or subwoofers. Adjustable height poles or stands allow you to fine tune the height of the loudspeakers to suit your venue. Do not place your loudspeakers too close to turntables as this may induce rumble or low frequency feedback from the tone arms. Isolate turntables on shock mounts. Consider adding subwoofers and/or further loudspeakers if the overall sound level or low frequency response is not enough for the room.

TMS series Installing the TMS-High loudspeaker Using the M10 rigging points The TMS-High loudspeaker can be permanently installed in a venue, suspended from eyebolts fitted to the internal M10 rigging points on the top and bottom of the cabinet. The cabinet can be installed vertically upright, or upside down if required in order to position the high frequency driver closer to the audience.
Insert M10 load-rated shoulder eyebolts into the threaded rigging points and tighten. The front rigging points should take the majority of the load while the rear rigging point should be used for angling the cabinet downwards only.
Using the FY-TMS flying yoke The FY-TMS flying yoke is designed to allow a range of vertical angle adjustment in order to optimise audience coverage. The optional FY-PH pole adapter accessory allows the TMS-High loudspeaker to be pole mounted above the subwoofer (below right) and angled as required. Attach the side flying strips to the sides of the cabinet using the M10 countersunk blanking screws. Angle the cabinet as required and tighten the wing nuts to secure.
To hang the cabinet from a standard truss structure, simply attach a scaffold clamp attached in place of a FY-PH pole adapter (above left). The flying yoke can also be used to permanently ceiling mount the cabinet with the pole adapter removed.

TMS series Wall Mounting The TMS-High loudspeaker can be conveniently wall mounted using the PB-55 pole mount wall bracket, which simply locates into the pole mount socket in the bottom of the cabinet. Once positioned on the wall bracket and correctly angled, tighten the grub screw to prevent accidental or unauthorised removal of the loudspeaker.
Maintenance If either of the drive units in your TMS series cabinet should cease functioning and need to be replaced or repaired, you are advised to remove the faulty unit from the cabinet and send it to a professional service centre authorised to repair Turbosound loudspeakers.
Removal of the high frequency compression driver Access to both drive units is gained from the rear of the cabinet by removing the rear panel. Remove the four M5 bolts (two on the top panel and two on the bottom) holding the rear panel in place and slide it out and away. Disconnect the cables from the compression driver and midrange unit, making a note of the polarity for later reconnection. The high frequency compression driver is a screw-on type and can be removed from the HF horn by simpy unscrewing it anti-clockwise. To replace the diaphragm, unscrew the four M3 hex head screws holding the cover in place and set it aside. Carefully lift out the diaphragm. Replacement is a reversal of the above procedure.
Removal of the midrange driver Remove the rear panel and disconnect the cables to the drive units as described above. Remove the four M5 x 25 screws securing the midrange driver to the midrange horn assembly and set it aside. The driver can now be reconed or replaced as necessary. For recone instructions please go to the support section of our website www.turbosound.com
