ToolVox® Media Gateway Quick Start Guide Pre-Power Up Instructions IMPORTANT: These instructions are provided to verify all necessary ToolVox chassis wire and module connections have not been shaken loose during transportation. This ensures that the ToolVox Media Gateway operates in the manner as intended by the Manufacturer.
CAUTION: Before starting to work on your Media Gateway, perform the following steps in the sequence indicated below: NOTE: Any work to the ToolVox Media Gateway requires use of an anti-static strap – included. • Touch an unpainted metal surface on the computer chassis, such as the power supply, before touching anything inside your server. • While you work, periodically touch an unpainted metal surface on the computer chassis to to dissipate any static electricity that might harm internal components. Also avoid touching components or contacts on a card and avoid touching pins on a chip. • When you remove an option from its shipping carton, you may find it wrapped in antistatic packing material designed to protect it from electrostatic damage. Do not remove the packing material until you are ready to install the option.

ToolVox® Media Gateway Quick Start Guide Assigning Server IP Settings The ToolVox Media Gateway has the IP configuration set to DHCP by default. There are multiple methods for logging into the ToolVox server. Initially you may just want a keyboard and monitor directly plugged into the server. You can then configure the network settings using the CLI commands listed below. Once you know the IP address of the server you can connect via SSH or use a web browser and enter the Webmin side of the server to edit network settings. You do not need to do both methods. A user account was also added to run the following from the CLI for those familiar with Linux platforms. A. Configuration of Network Settings Via Direct Connect and SSH commands: This is the login information for the user account on the Toolvox systems: Login: cbadmin Password: CodeBlue92 These are some of the common commands this user is able to run as sudo: Ifconfig (see current network info) The server by default is DHCP so once you have connected a network connection to the eth0 port on the rear of the server, it will pull an IP address if DHCP is running on your network. If the network is not running DHCP, then run the below command to configure a static IP address. sudo system-config-network (setup Dynamic/Static network settings for the ToolVox). 1. Select Edit Devices and eth0 (illus. 5 and 6).
