TOURNAMENTS NASAMW Ancient and Medieval Events Below is a short description of the tournaments being put on by the North American Society for Ancient and Medieval Wargaming. For more information, please go to the NASAMW registration desk. A single entry fee of $5 is charged and covers all events you play in. This goes for trophies and other event expenses.
DBA The DBA & related tournaments and events listed here are presented by the North American Society of Ancient and Medieval Wargamers (NASAMW). Sign-Up Sheets for all events will be at the DBA Table. Please check in about 30 minutes before start of play. ALL of our events are new player friendly. If you show up, there are plenty of people willing to help you learn how to play and help out with loaning an army for an event. Just ask! DBA events will be 3.0 version with latest FAQ updates. Event size in terms of players is unlimited unless noted below. Players should bring their own terrain but some communal terrain will be available; all battlefields are provided. for the Iron Throne. A series of linked battles with new coalitions forming behind either the current king or latest pretender will determine the eventual winner. An ally in one game may be a mortal enemy in the next. Each battle will be played out using A Game of Ice and Fire (a variant of De Bellis Antiquitatis – DBA), a quick play system of medieval war. The game is easy to learn and beginners are welcome. Figures representing Lannisters, Greyjoys, Starks, Baratheons, Freys, Tullys, Martells and many others will be provided or you can bring your own army. Other Tournaments TRIUMPH! TRIUMPH! Rules are easy to learn and will be taught by the GM as needed. Young gamers are welcome but anyone under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Look for the Epic Conflicts of the Ancient world walk-up intro games throughout Historicon as another option to familiarize yourself with the rules. Games are presented by the Washington Grand Company (www.wgcwar.com). Sign-up sheets for all events will be at our HQ table at the entrance to the Tournament area. Thursday Jumbo Jumbo Jumbo 2pm - 6pm Four rounds. 48pt armies. Army must include at least one elephant. Historical matchups in first round if possible but the intent is for serious jumbo on jumbo action so historical enemies don’t matter.. Point system simple (that may be modified to highlight elephant kills) with emphasis on a fun event. Loaner armies are available. GM: Alex and Jonathan Bostwick.

Friday Doubles Challenge 12pm - 6pm Two-player teams. 144pt armies. Grand Triumph! modification to rules which can be found at www.wgcwar.com/GrandTriumph.html. Use triple army mins/maxs if no ally is taken. If a single ally is taken, use double the army mins/maxs for the main army and a full normal-sized army list for the ally. Flames of War (I-95 Gamers)
Thursday Late-War V4 D-Day Doubles 10am – 8pm Arrive at 9:30am or your slot might be given away. Three 2.5 hour rounds. 2000pt D-Day books Overlord and Atlantic Wall. Each player is allowed only one formation between 8001200pts; both players totals must come out to 2000pts. You may only have one tank, one mech, or one infantry company, no fortified companies allowed. British and US forces may combine. One named hero per player and one observer per player One air purchase allowed per team. If one of your formations breaks the game is over and you lose. Terrain will be typical I-95 stuff. It’s likely that we’ll have several snow boards with restrictive going for vehicles. The Missions will be random and Domination missions are possible. Scoring will be based on “Wins” and then points. Please reserve a slot for your team as soon as you can by mailing the GM. Please indicate the nationality of your team. All miniature manufacturers are welcome but no unpainted teams. Cost is $10 per team which goes for prizes. We encourage you to bring a chess clock as we will enforce the 60% of the time rule: if you go over, you lose. You need to play at least 6 turns. 9:00am – 7:00pm 28mm; 750pt lists; 4’ x 4’ tables; 2.5 hour rounds. 20 players max. Check-in will be from 9-9:30am; first game at 10am. Preregister with GM to reserve a spot, receive updates and allowances for unit specific information. This was submitted before the Tank War book was released. Tables will represent European and Eastern European theaters. Prizes will be awarded for Best Allied, Axis and Minor Power generals, and Bad Day At War. Expect a creative scoring system to break ties of win/loss records for determining winners. You may select a force of ONE reinforced INFANTRY platoon (no Theater Selectors). No vehicles with an armor value 8+. This force may come from the Core 2nd Editioni Rule book or from one of the Armies of books. Missions will be selected from the 2nd Edition core rule book. Expect tables of various terrain density and type. There will be NO special rules. 2nd Edition Bolt Action Rules as written and the new FAQ at the time of play. There will be no painting requirement. If you are a new player, come out with what you have assembled and give the game a try. If you need an army, GM should be able to supply one British or German army. Friday North American Nationals 10am – 8pm 120 players Arrive at 9:30am to register. Three 2.5 hour rounds. 100pts. All official lists from Team Yankee (including Afghansty), Leopard (including Panzertruppen), Iron Maiden and VolksArmee will be allowed. All forces must be fully painted. Will have a stand-by list if event fills up. Each participant gets the Wolfgang’s Bratty Wagon objective for free. Please register by sending force lists to: wwpd2017wwiii@ gmail.com. Store/Club Challenge: Players can represent their store or club with the best group taking home the “Fulda Cup”. Each group must submit a list of their team members to GM by 30 Jun 2017. Team with highest average score wins. Minimum of 4 players per team to qualify. Prizes for winners, best painted and each faction gets a “best player” award. Scoring: at the end of each round, players will tally up points of the enemy units they have destroyed and then subtract points for the units they have lost in that round. Lord of the Rings Saturday Battle Companies Tournament

9am – 5pm 50pt lists. Special version of original Battle Companies game which comprises of a few models fighting as a single unit. Models are more powerful and warriors can gain special abilities and also buy abilities to increase their effectiveness. Special rules can be found at www.dchobbitleague.com. Points are spent on a single faction which are special and found in the DC Hobbit League Companies Rules. Each player then picks one of three victory conditions. These conditions are your personal way to win the game after 15 rounds. Other players who choose your same victory conditions are technically your only competition. Players should name their models (typically 5-8) so as to make it easier to track their progress during the tournament since all will gain experience and change their stats. GM: Devin Moreno (

National Tournament 9am – 7pm In celebration of the release of 4th Edition we invite you to come to THE Nationals and partake in the carnage. We would really appreciate your support and participation. We will not only be giving a limited edition objective to all participants, but also will be giving out a massive amount of prize support. Battlefront’s own Peter Simunovich will be attending this Historicon. He will be judging the painting competition and will be doing a Q&A session for any who would like to ask those burning questions. In order to help the games go faster due to the abbreviated schedule this year, the points for Nationals have been lowered to 75 from the announced 100. The two-hour time limit means you will need to be ready to MOVE, T.O. and A.T.O. will have access to stopwatches if it comes to it. Despite having only having two sides at this time we are going to have a great time. Wargods Saturday 7pm - Midnight; 8’ x 5’ table Come out and play in the Wargods of Aegyptus Campaign!
