Where and When? Blue Bag # 1 (Containers) Curbside Recycling - every second week Plastic Containers with lids removed. Check your plastic for the sign. 1 2 If possible, place recyclables 1.5 meters (5 feet) away from your garbage cans Food, beverage, metal & aluminum cans  Rinse metal cans/lids and put lids inside the can before at the curb. Place collection material placing in the bag. at curb by 7 a.m. Aluminum foil wrap & trays Look on reverse calendar for days with a  Rinse, crumple foil, flatten trays, and place loose in bag _____________________________________________________ Milk cartons & juice boxes (remove straws)  Rinse and flatten  Place flattened cartons inside an open carton Blue Bag # 2 (Fibres) Waste Transfer Station / Recycling Centre Tuesday Thursday Saturday 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. Newspapers, flyers, magazines, telephone books, game books, hardcover books (remove cover), fibre egg cartons, cores from paper towel and toilet tissue rolls, cereal boxes Rain Barrels (remove liner), office paper, envelopes, paperbacks, $25.00 + HST household and fine paper. Rain Barrels can be purchased at the Town Hall, 4 Hemlo Drive, and Cardboard Boxes with a “corrugated” waffle picked up at Waste Transfer Station. * There are a limited number of rain barrels  Flatten, bundle, tie with string available to Marathon residents with a current  Place beside bags at the curb water account & proof of address. First  Pizza Boxes (clean) come, first served.  Maximum size (3’x 2’x 1’) ______________________________________________________________________________________________ We cannot accept the following items: styrofoam  hazardous waste dishes container lids plastic bags or film  Christmas wrapping paper waxed covered boxes, i.e. soap boxes WEEE - Recycling Electronics When in doubt, leave it out! Glass Recycling Year Round Household GLASS is accepted at DEPOT ONLY (no curbside pick-up) Refrigeration Tags Refrigeration tags must be purchased by anyone disposing of an old refrigerator or freezer. Tags are available at the Town Hall for $50. Appliances must be dropped off at the Waste Transfer Station from 2 - 6 p.m. during regular hours. Please affix sticker on the interior rear wall of the refrigerator. Bag Tags Bag tags are required for regular household waste. Tags are available at the Town Hall, Rec. Complex, Mac’s Convenience and Canadian Tire for $2.00 each. For details and more info, check our website at www.marathon.ca. ______________________________________________ WTS Punch Cards WTS Punch Cards are great for those that make regular trips to the Waste Transfer Station. WTS punch cards can be purchased at the Town Hall and are available in denominations of: 50 tag Card—$100.00 100 tag Card—$200.00 www.marathon.ca WEEE stands for “Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment,” as designated in Ontario Regulation 393/04. It is the informal name for the variety of electrical and electronic products that are no longer wanted by their owners. A variety of options exist for waste electronics, including reuse, refurbishment and recycling.
