Themis Computer 2-13 TPX-4 PCI-Expansion Subsystem Installation Manual 2.3 2.3.1 Operation General To ensure adequate cooling within the TPX-4, the system should not be operated with the top cover off. System fans pull air into the chassis, hence the TPX-4 must be closed to provide for proper airflow. Make sure that jumper-pins J1203 on the Bridge PCI card and J1602 on the TPX-4 Interface board have been configured for the same type of link (both copper or both optical). See Table 2-1 on page 2-2 and Table 2-2 on page 2-7 for details. Caution: Configure jumper-pins J1203 (Bridge PCI card) and J1602 (TPX-4 Interface board) for the same type of link, either copper or optical. After the InfiniBand Bridge PCI card has been installed in the host computer, the TPX-4 must be turned on and connected to the Bridge PCI card through either the copper or the fiber-optic link, otherwise the host computer may or may not boot. Caution: Make sure the TPX-4 is turned on and connected to the Bridge PCI card through either the copper or the fiber-optic link before turning the host computer on. 2.3.2 Turning the System On 1. Plug the AC power cord (shipped with the unit) into the AC socket on the rear of the TPX-4 (see Figure 2-14 on page 2-15). Caution: It is important that the TPX-4 be turned on before the host computer (the Themis T-210 server, for example) so that it is recognized by the host during its boot process. 2. Push the power supply on/off switch to the ON ( | ) position. If power is present, the AC power supply LED (rear panel) and the power-on LED (front panel; see Figure 2-15, page 2-15) will both light green. 2-14 Themis Computer Installation & Operation Operation Figure 2-14.
