8. Follow the instructions in Section 3-2, “Mounting the Receiver,” in the TracVision A5 Installation Guide to mount the second receiver inside the vehicle. 9. Check the cable connections at both receivers to ensure none have come loose. In particular, be sure to inspect the short video cable, connecting between the “To Video” and “Video” ports, on both receivers. 10. Follow the instructions in Section 4-1, “Installing the Remote Control Batteries,” in the TracVision A5 Installation Guide to install batteries in the new remote control.
Testing the Two-receiver Configuration Now you need to turn the system on, test both receivers, and ensure everything works properly. 1. Ensure that the antenna has a clear view of the satellite. For complete details about satellite reception requirements, refer to Section 1-3, “Receiving Satellite TV Signals,” in the TracVision A5 User’s Guide. 2. Apply vehicle power and turn on the vehicle’s entertainment system. Turn on the audio/video components that are connected to the original receiver and the components that are connected to the second receiver. 3. Turn on the front panel power switch on both receivers. The light on each switch illuminates and the receivers beep twice. 4. Wait 30 seconds. The antenna should then power off and both receivers should beep once. Power Switch
5. Press the SAT button on the remote control that came with the original receiver. Then press the POWER button. The original receiver beeps twice to indicate that power is again applied to the antenna. The original receiver controls power to the TracVision antenna. You MUST turn on the original receiver in order to operate the second receiver.
6. Do not move the vehicle for 20 seconds. This allows the antenna gyros to initialize properly.

7. Verify that the following appears on the TV(s) that are connected to the original receiver: If your satellite dish is ready for DIRECTV® service, please wait until your Advanced Program Guide™ is prepared. Installation
Searching for satellite signal...
The TracVision antenna searches for and locks onto the satellite. The receiver then starts downloading the program guide and the following message appears: If your satellite dish is ready for DIRECTV® service, please wait until your Advanced Program Guide™ is prepared. Installation
Acquiring guide data...
This process may take up to 60 seconds. Once the program guide has loaded, a DIRECTV programming channel appears. Only the DIRECTV preview channels (such as channels 100 and 201) are viewable if you haven’t yet activated the receiver. 8. Press the SAT button on the remote control that came with the second receiver. Then press the POWER button. The receiver beeps twice and starts downloading the program guide. The following message appears on the TV(s) that are connected to the second receiver: If your satellite dish is ready for DIRECTV® service, please wait until your Advanced Program Guide™ is prepared. This process may take up to 60 seconds. Once the program guide has loaded, a DIRECTV programming channel appears. Only the DIRECTV preview channels (such as channels 100 and 201) are viewable until you activate the second receiver.
Activating the Receiver(s) Before you can start watching satellite TV via a TracVision A5 receiver, the receiver must be activated. You will need the second receiver’s serial number to activate it. This serial number is noted on the first page of these instructions.
If you’ve already activated the original TracVision A5 receiver: Call KVH at 1-866-551-8004 to activate the second receiver under the same account. Follow the instructions on page v of the TracVision A5 User’s Guide and be sure to tell the KVH Activation Department representative that you just need to add a second receiver to your account.
If you need to activate both receivers: Call KVH at 1-866-551-8004 to activate both receivers. Follow the instructions on page v of the TracVision A5 User’s Guide and be sure to tell the KVH Activation Department representative that you need to activate two receivers.
Using the Two Receivers With two receivers, your vehicle’s passengers no longer have to watch the same channel. One passenger can use the original receiver’s remote control to change the channel on one screen, while another passenger can use the second receiver’s remote control to change the channel on the other screen. The second receiver’s remote control is programmed to work exclusively with the second receiver. To operate the second receiver, you must use the second receiver’s remote control. To operate the original receiver, you must use the original receiver’s remote control.
Remember, the original receiver must always be turned on in order to use the second receiver.

Second Receiver Installation Instructions
Using the New Remote Control to Operate Other Vehicle Components In addition to controlling the second satellite receiver, you may be able to operate your vehicle’s TV, VCR, DVD, or AUX components using your new TracVision remote control. For details, refer to Section 3-2, “Programming the Remote Control to Operate Other Components,” in the TracVision A5 User’s Guide.
Programming a Replacement Remote Control to Operate the Second Receiver PWR
To operate the second receiver, you must use a remote control that is programmed with the second receiver’s remote ID. The remote control that came with this kit is already programmed with the proper remote ID, so you don’t need to reprogram it. However, if you order a replacement remote control, and you need to use it to operate the second receiver (and not the original receiver), follow the steps below to program the replacement remote control.
