How to test your speaker connection To make sure the speakers are correctly connected, you can use a test program “Multi Channel Audio Demo” : Start -> All Programs -> PCI Audio Applications -> Multi Channel Audio Demo You can switch the center and subwoofer channel by adjusting the jumpers on the soundcard. See farther down this manual. This function was included because there is no standard in the industry what should be center and what should be subwoofer. There are many speakersets on the market and they can all differ. If you notice huge amount of bass going through your center which is supposed to go through the subwoofer, switch the jumpers. Move the cursor to which speaker you want to test and left-click the mouse. If the set-up is correct, you can hear music coming from that speaker alone. Each channel has different music for distinction. 4 TRUST 514DX 5.1 S.E. OPTICAL / Trust SC-5250 5.1 Surround Sound Card In the screen you can select some different options: Music will give music Sound effect will let you listen to some effects the card if capable off. HRTF will let you listen to a surround sound in the form of a helicopter making a circle around your centered position. Echo will add echo to the sound. Stop will stop all sounds. Exit will exit the program. Help will display the help file of the program. 38. Technical information Use Sample rates (KHz) Play 48, 44.1 Recording 48, 44.1 Games 48, 44.1 39. Note! • • • • Audio input and microphone The external LINE IN audio input only works in the 4-speaker and 2-speaker modes (Step 26B). Turn on the microphone amplifier to increase the microphone volume (Step 29-B). Connecting the speakers If the sound of the low tone speaker and the centre speaker has been switched, swap the plugs on the speaker set or alter the position of the plastic block on the sound card For some speakers, the rear speakers are called: “surround”. Surround sound 5 SC-5250 5.1 Surround Sound Card • Preferably use the latest release of Windows Media Player to play music: http://www.trust.com/mediaplayer. • When playing a DVD, it is often necessary to configure 5.1 speakers in the media player software (for example, in WinDVD). The centre speaker is only active for speech in films. • • Midi Always select the MPU-401 port for communication with an external midi keyboard. To play midi files on the PC, select “Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth”. Setting the jumpers on your sound card. If needed you can change the signal going to the subwoofer with the signal going to the center. Also you can make the signal for the center go to the subwoofer. This is done because there is no standard in the industry what should go to where and it can differ per speakerset. When you notice that huge amount of bass go to the center, speach is with a very low tone and the subwoofer is relatively silent then switch this. JP3 CENTER/BASS 1-3 , 2-4 C/LFE 3-5 , 4-6 LFE/C Note: • MAKE SURE THAT THE JUMPERS ARE HORIZONTALLY CONNECTED EXACTLY LIKE IN THE PICTURE. CONNECTING THEM VERTICALLY WILL CHANGE THE SOUND BECAUSE DIFFERENT CHANNELS WILL BE MIXED AND MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SOUNDCARD.
