TVCenter - Overview With the new TVCenter you can watch both analog and digital TV on your monitor. Your TV viewing fun has been enhanced with numerous additional functions. Thanks to manual or scheduled recordings to your hard disk and the timeshift function you can watch television flexibly and not miss a minute of your favorite shows. Quick-to-open Teletext provides you with the latest news any time you want. The online Electronic Program Guide (EPG) also guarantees you an overview of the TV schedule as well as quick and uncomplicated recording programming. You also have the option of listening to DVB radio any time you want and of recording your favorite programs quickly and easily. The gallery is available for you to manage and play back the recorded TV and/or radio programs. The software also offer the option of converting the TV programs recorded in the Transport Stream into various different formats.
The functions described in this document depend on the software version and /or the hardware you purchased.

TVCenter Configuration Wizard The configuration wizard opens automatically after TVCenter has been installed. This helps you configure your PCTV device in just a few easy steps and to start the first channel search. Follow the TVCenter Wizard instructions. Please note that only correct configuration of the PCTV device and correctly running a channel scan guarantee a maximum TV experience.
Configuring the PCTV device
The TVCenter Wizard automatically recognizes the PCTV device connected to your computer and the connection used. If several PCTV devices are connected to your computer the Wizard displays the first device it finds. Click the Next button and the Wizard leads you through the configuration for the PCTV device displayed. Once configuration is complete, the second PCTV device found is displayed and you can configure it as well. If the PCTV device displayed has several connections, click on the Next button to configure them in turn.

Running a channel scan
Before you start the channel scan, check that you have chosen the country you are in under Location.
You can call up the TVCenter Wizard at any time by clicking Start > Program Files > PCTV Systems > TVCenter Wizard, for example to configure a new PCTV device or run another channel scan.

TVCenter - The application The user interface looks like this when you open the program for the first time:
Use the bottom control bar to change channels, adjust the volume, start recording or watch a timeshift recording. If available, you can also show subtitles or swap over the soundtrack. Please note that the bottom control bar is hidden automatically after a few seconds. To display the control bar again, move the mouse over the TVCenter window.

The Electronic Program Guide (TV DIGITAL OnGuide) You can also install the test version of the TV DIGITAL OnGuide electronic program guide along with TVCenter. When the test version expires, you can either buy the application or continue to use it with just limited functionality. If you installed TV DIGITAL OnGuide together with TVCenter you can open the program by selecting the button from the Master Control-menu in the top control bar with the mouse. If TV DIGITAL OnGuide is not installed on your computer the EPG button is disabled.
You can use this application to make a note of programs and plan recordings.
For further information on using TV DIGITAL OnGuide, please see the product's own help file.
If you have not installed TV DIGITAL OnGuide together with TVCenter you can still install it any time. Proceed as follows:
Place the installation disc in your computer drive. Select the TV DIGITAL OnGuide option in the window which opens. Follow the installation wizard's instructions.

The Dialog - TVCenter Settings The TVCenter settings dialog allows you to make various changes to the configuration and/or the program. To open the dialog click on: Start > Program Files > PCTV Systems > TVCenter Settings
Select the relevant option in the navigation bar to make the changes you want. For example, the Channel scan option to repeat a channel scan or the Record option to define the directories in which recordings should be stored.

The TVCenter Radio Application Click either on the button in the Master Control-Menu or go to: Start > Programs > PCTV Systems > TVCenter Radio to start the TVCenter Radio application. The user interface looks like this when you open the application:
Use the control bars to change the radio channel, to adjust the volume or start a spur-of-the-moment or timeshift-recording. If available you can also swap over the soundtrack.
Please bear in mind that you need a dual PCTV tuner to be able to receive TV and radio signals at the same time.

The Gallery You can open the Gallery by selecting the button from the Functions-menu in the top control bar. You will find all the programs you have recorded here.
Use the Gallery to play recordings. For a better overview you can define which type of recording will be displayed in the gallery. You can either choose to display all recordings or for example just the TV-recordings or Radio-recordings. To do this, click on the dropdown-menu.

After defining which type of recording is displayed in the Gallery you can further define how the recordings will be sorted. You can choose to sort the recordings by date, file size or file name. To do this, click on the from the dropdown-menu.

If, for example you wish to play back a recording on your Sony® Playstation® Portable (PSP™), iPod® or DVD player you can convert the format of the recording. Several different formats are available. For further information refer to the chapter “Converting Recordings”.

Open TVCenter There several ways to start TVCenter: 1. Double-click the TVCenter link on the Desktop. 2. Click the TVCenter icon in the Quick Launch bar. 3. Click the TVCenter entry in the PCTV Systems program group in the Start menu. Please note that under Windows XP and Windows Vista shortcuts on the desktop and in the quick launch bar are optional.
The application is then started. When you open TVCenter for the first time, the program which was found first during the program search is displayed. If you have already opened TVCenter several times the channel which were last watching is displayed.

Open TVCenter Radio There are several ways to start the TVCenter Radio application: 1. In the TVCenter application click on the button, in the Master Control-Menu 2. Click on the TVCenter Radio entry in the PCTV Systems program group in the Start menu. The application is then started. When you open TVCenter Radio for the first time, the program which was found first during the program search is displayed. If you have already opened TVCenter Radio several times the channel which were last watching is displayed.

Changing TV channels There are various ways to change channels.
Next / previous channel You can switch to the next or previous channel in the channel list by clicking one of the
buttons.

Changing radio channels There are various ways to change channels.

Creating a favorite TV or radio channel list To create a favorite TV or radio channel list you first have to open the TVCenter Settings dialog. In the Settings dialog choose form the navigation bar the option:
TV channels to create a favorite TV channel list Radio channels to create a favorite radio channel list.
The process of creating a favorite channel list is identical for both TV and radio channels.
To create for example a TV channel favorite list follow the instructions below:
In the TV channels window of the Settings dialog click on the Create a new favorite list button. Now enter the name of the new list. From the All channels area select the channels you would like to organize in the created favorite list. To select more than one channel, hold down the Ctrl-key on your keyboard while selecting each channel. Drag the selected TV channels into the created favorite list.
You can delete a favorite channel list by selecting the list you want to delete and then either click on the Delete selected favorite list button underneath the favourite lists or the Delete-key on the keyboard.

Creating a Predefined radio channel You have the possibility to assign your favourite radio station to one of the six Predefined Channel buttons available.
To create a predefined radio channel follow the instructions below:
From the Channel Select window select the radio channel you would like to assign to one of the six Predefined Channel buttons available. While listening to the selected channel hold down the Ctrl-key on your keyboard and press the Predefined Channel button you would like to assign the channel to. The current radio channel was now assigned and you can change to its program by clicking on the respective Predefined Channel button.

Timeshift Timeshift, also known as time-delayed television or radio, is a function which allows you to record a program and play it back at any time from any location at the same time as live TV or radio is still being recorded on your computer. This means that not even unexpected interruptions can cause you to miss a second of the current TV or radio show.
Click the
button to start a timeshift recording.
Please note that while watching TV the bottom control bar is hidden automatically after a few seconds. To display the control bar again, move the mouse over the TVCenter window.
During timeshift recording, additional controls are available in the bottom control bar.
Clicking the Play/Pause button starts playback of the timeshift recording. If you click this button during playback of the timeshift recording the playback is paused. Clicking the button again restarts playback. The Timeshift time bar allows you to jump to any position within the timeshift recording with the assistance of the position indicator. Click the timeshift playback position indicator and pull it to the desired position within the recording whilst holding the mouse button pressed. You can switch to the live program at any time by pulling the position indicator to the right-hand end of the bar. The timeshift recording of the program you selected is then continued.

TVCenter - First steps With the Skip back / Skip forward buttons you can skip a pre-defined section of the timeshift back or forward. You can define how much is skipped in the Settings dialog under the Recording > Timeshift > Skip times option. Clicking the End Timeshift Recording button ends the Timeshift recording and switches back to live TV or Radio.
Please note that if the Timeshift recording is ended or the TV or radio channels on your computer are changed the Timeshift file temporarily stored on your computer is deleted.

Recording a TV or Radio Program The application offers two recording options. Manual (spur-of-the-moment) recording Planned recording

Manual (spur-of-the-moment) Recording Manual recording records the current program.
You can start a manual recording by clicking the bottom control bar.
To end the recording click the

Please note that while watching TV the bottom control bar automatically disappears after a few seconds. To make it appear again, move the mouse over the TVCenter window.
The recording is stored in the directory which you specified in the Settings dialog under the Recording > Recording directories > TV recording or Radio Recordings option. The filename is created automatically from the channel and the date and time.

Planned recording To program a recording, open the application's context menu with a right mouse click and select the Recording Tasks option. The recording window opens and all recordings planned or already made are displayed.
You have two options for programming recordings: either manually or with the help of the TV DIGITAL OnGuide application. The recording is stored in the directory which you specified in the Settings dialog under the Recording > Recording directories > TV recording or Radio recording option. The filename is automatically generated from the channel and the date and time. Manually programmed recording Click the New button in the Recording tasks window. The following window appears:
Enter the desired information and confirm with OK.

Click the Start TV DIGITAL OnGuide link in the recording window. The application is started. Find the desired program and click on it. An information window on the program opens. Click the Record button in the information window. The planned recording now also appears in the Recording window.

Playing back recordings All programs you record are stored in the Gallery. To play them back you must button from the Master first open the Gallery by either selecting the Control-Menu in the top control bar or by selecting the Recorded films option in the context menu.

Converting recordings TVCenter records TV programs in Transport Stream format. If you wish to play back a recording on another device it must first be converted. To convert a recording, you must first open the Gallery by either selecting the button from the Master Control-Menu in the top control bar or by selecting the Recorded films option in the context menu.

Running a Channel Scan There are two ways to run a channel scan: by means of the TVCenter Wizard by means of the TVCenter Settings dialog
During the DVB channel scan TVCenter will simultaneously scan for both TV and radio channels.

TVCenter Wizard - Channel Scan To run a channel scan with the help of the TVCenter wizard proceed as follows:
Open the TVCenter wizard by clicking Start > Program Files > PCTV Systems > TVCenter Wizard Click Continue in the welcome screen Configure the PCTV device and the antenna connection for which you wish to run a channel scan. Confirm your input by clicking the Continue button. In the channel scan window, select the country which you are presently in from the Location dropdown menu.
In addition, you can change the search method by clicking the Advanced Settings button. Click the Start channel scan button to start the channel scan.
The progress bar shows the progress of the channel scan. After the channel scan has finished, follow the TVCenter Wizard instructions.

TVCenter Settings - Channel Scan To start a channel scan from the Settings dialog proceed as follows:
Select the country you are currently in from the Location dropdown list. If several antenna connections are available, select the connection which is to be used for the channel scan. Click the Advanced Settings button for advanced channel scan settings.
In the dialog which appears you can choose one of the following scan methods: Fast, Normal and Best Quality Click the Start Scan button to start the channel scan.

Open the TVCenter Settings dialog by clicking Start > Program Files > PCTV Systems > TVCenter Settings Select the Channel Scan option in the navigation bar.
TVCenter - First steps The time the scan takes varies depending on the scan method you chose. The progress bar shows how the scan is progressing. When the scan is finished, quit the dialog by clicking the OK button
Important: When using a mobile bar antenna, make sure it is placed as high and as close to a window as possible. Reception depends on the location and can be impaired by thick or steel-reinforced walls and adjacent buildings. An exterior/roof antenna is required in such cases. For the best possible reception we recommend you use an exterior/roof antenna.

IF YOU DO NOT ACCEPT OR UNDERSTAND THE TERMS OF THIS LICENSE, YOU SHOULD NOT INSTALL THE SOFTWARE AND PROMPTLY RETURN THIS PRODUCT TO YOUR VALUE-ADDED RESELLER. 1. License Grant. This Software may contain the proprietary property of others, which has been licensed to PCTV Systems; your use of the Software is expressly conditioned on your agreement not to remove any copyright notices or other proprietary markings of the third party software. 5. Security. You acknowledge and agree that in order to protect the integrity of certain third party content, PCTV Systems and/or its licensors may provide for Software security related updates that will be automatically downloaded and installed on your computer. Such security related updates may impair the Software (and any other software on your computer which specifically depends on the Software) including disabling your ability to copy and/or play "secure" content, i.e. content protected by digital rights management. In such an event, PCTV Systems and/or its licensors shall use reasonable efforts to promptly post notices on PCTV Systems’ web site explaining the security update and providing instructions to end-users for obtaining new versions or further updates of the Software that restore access to secure content and related features. 6. Term and Termination. This License shall be effective upon installation of the Software and shall terminate upon the earlier of (a) your failure to comply with any term of this License; (b) return, destruction or deletion of all copies of the Software in your possession or (c) transfer of the Software and this License to another party in accordance with Section 1(d). PCTV Systems’ rights and your obligations shall survive termination of this License. 7. Limited Warranty. PCTV Systems warrants to the original licensee that the Software, as delivered, will perform in accordance with the accompanying documentation for a period of 30 days from the date of the original purchase (“Limited Warranty”). PCTV Systems’ entire liability and your exclusive remedy for breach of the preceding Limited Warranty shall be, at PCTV Systems’ sole option, repair or replacement of the Software that does not meet the warranty set forth herein and that is returned to PCTV Systems. This limited warranty shall be void if failure of the Software has resulted from any accident, abuse, misuse or misapplication by you. Any replacement Software will be warranted

EXCEPT AS SET FORTH ABOVE, THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” BASIS. YOU ASSUME ALL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE SOFTWARE. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, PCTV SYSTEMS DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, NONINFRINGEMENT, AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. This License is the entire agreement between you and PCTV Systems and supersedes any other communication with respect to the Software. No modification of or amendment to this License will be effective unless in writing signed by both parties. If any provision of this License is held invalid or unenforceable, the remainder of this License will continue in full force and effect.
