Boot th PC workstation on which the installation is to be performed from HP Config Tailor CD-ROM. (To do this, press F8 when the HP Kayak PC Workstation screen appears, and change the boot device to the CD-ROM.) 2. A welcome screen will appear and you will be asked to choose your preferred language. (Only English ia available in current versions.) Note ! Use TAB key on your keyboard to move between selections and press Enter or Space to select an option. 3. HP ConfigTailor will scan the hardware on the client PC and then give the user a choice between Remote Install, and Local Install or Reinstall/Repair. Remote Install allows you to install software from the deployment database using a configuration profile defined by the system administrator. Choose this option if you wish to perform a Remote Installation and select Next. Local Install allows you to install software components directly from the CD-ROM – no deployment database is required. For ULMA System choose the Local Install 4. Select the Local Install option, using the Tab and Enter keys. Tab to Next and press Enter to continue. 5. The next installation screen asks you to confirm or change the way HP ConfigTailor will partition the hard drive of your PC workstation. Tab Next and press Enter to continue. For C:\ put 1000Mb in FAT format, with option to format into NTFS format later on 6. You will now be asked to choose between three installation options: Minimum. Installs only the Windows NT 4.0 operating system and HP-specific drivers. Maximum. Installs Windows NT 4.0 and all HP-spesific drivers, utilities and licenced programs available on the HP ConfigTailor CD-ROM Custom. Installs windows NT 4.0 and HP-specific drivers. In addition, you can choose which HP-supplied utilities and lisensed applications to install the CD-ROM. For ULMA System choose Minimum option. 7. At this point, you will be asked if you wish to save the local installation options you have defined onto a floppy diskette to faciliate the recovery of your operating enviroment in the event of a system failure. This will be done after all software is loaded, don’t make recovery diskette at this stage Setting up HP KAYAK Workstation ULMA NT/NTi 10 ___________________________________________________________________________________ 8. Finally, installation will begin. You will be requested to insert the Window NT 4.0 and Service Pack CD-ROMs during the installation process. Warning ! The installation will reformat the primary partition of the hard disk drive of the client PC workstation. If the partition size has been changed, or if the primary partition was not FAT16, the entire hard disk will be reformatted and repartitioned 9. The NT software Setup will take a while, so be patient and follow the installation messages. 10. If having trouble with the NT adjustements, see chapter 3 Windows adjusments for ULMA HP KAYAK Workstation. 11. Finally when Windows NT Setup has finished and the workstation has been restarted, you Are able to Log on to Windows NT as “Administrator”, without no password. 12. Now the Windows NT workstation is operational for futher tuning. Setting up HP KAYAK Workstation ULMA NT/NTi 11 ___________________________________________________________________________________ 6 ADJUSTING DISPLAY SETTINGS FOR WINDOWS NT Display settings has to be adjusted correcly according to current Display and Display driver. In the ULMA systems the display settings are adjusted in a following way. 1. You have to be logged on as Administrator 2. Start under Windows NT “Start” button following Start \ Settings \ Control Panel \ Display. After chosen this, following window will open. Figure 1. Adjusting the display settings From the opening window chose “Settings” option and check that display settings are Adjusted as following: Color Palette: Refresh Frequency: Desktop Area: Display Type: TrueColor (32-bit) Refresh frequency 85 Hz Display Area 1280 x 1024 Display model: HITACHI CM 811 3. After setting are changed, log on as ULMA user and check that the settings are correct 4. After this, the display setting are ready for ULMA system Setting up HP KAYAK Workstation ULMA NT/NTi 12 ___________________________________________________________________________________ 7 ADJUSTING THE NETWORK SETTINGS 1. You have to be logged on as Administrator 2. Start configuring the Network options by choosing under windows “Start” button ->Start \ Settings \ Control Panel \ Network, and following window will open. Figure 2. Network settings First you have to check that the Computer Name and Workgroup are named as in figure above. If they are not named correctly, use the change option to rename. Next you have to adjust the network Protocol by choosing “Procols” option. Figure 3. Adjusting Protocols Leave only the TCP/IP Protcol and Remove others. Adjust the TCP/IP by choosing properties option or double click on TCP/IP Protocol in the window . Setting up HP KAYAK Workstation ULMA NT/NTi 13 ___________________________________________________________________________________ After choosing, following window will open Figure 4. TCP/IP Protocol Settings Check from the opening window, that the Network Adapter is found and specify the Right IP Address and Subnet Mask, but leave the Default Gateway empty. After filling in the following IP address: Subnet mask: Default Gateway: 138.100.100.100 255.255.255.0 (default for Ulma) (default for Ulma) (none; default) Press Apply to make Network Setting completed 3. After changes are maid, network adapter is ready to operate Note ! If trouble with the TCP/IP Addresses contact the local net Administrator , because the default values may not function in some cases. Setting up HP KAYAK Workstation ULMA NT/NTi 14 ___________________________________________________________________________________ 8 MAKING SERVICE PACK 5 UPDATING Microsoft has made improvements to actual NT Workstation software and these improvements are called Service Pack’s. Following the Service Pack updating instructions, you are able to update an standard microsoft Service Pack. 1) First you need is Service Pack software provided on CD 2) Start the Windows NT Workstation 3) Insert the Service Pack CD in to the computer 4) Find the Service Pack updating ”SP*i386” by using under the Windows NT Start button the option ”find” and following screen will open. Figure 5. Find option under the Start button For finding the service pack, type to the Named- field ”SP*i386” and for Look in -field choose the CD-station (F:). Start the find option by pressing the ”Find Now” button. After this will Windows NT search the right ”SP*i386”, which will start the actual Service Pack Updating program. Setting up HP KAYAK Workstation ULMA NT/NTi 15 ___________________________________________________________________________________ After a while, will the Windows NT display the result of the search in a following window. Figure 6. Find option results Choose from the finded Service Pack ”SP*i386” files the right one and double click it. After this will the service pack update program start. 5) First screen of the Setup is Welcome screen, choose ”NEXT” to continue. 6) Second screen is software lisence agreement, choose ”YES” to continue. 7) Third screen will confirm the Service Pack setup, choose ” Install the Service Pack” and ”NEXT” to continue. Setting up HP KAYAK Workstation ULMA NT/NTi 16 ___________________________________________________________________________________ 8) Fourth screen will confirm that it will make an uninstall directory of the Service Pack setup. Choose ”Yes” for continue. 9) After this, will the update program inform that is ready to complete the installation. Choose ”Finish” for continue. (after this, it will take a while) 10) Next Update program will ask about the Hotfixes, choose ”NO” for continue. 11) After this, the setup is ready to complete. Take now the CD and diskettes out and choose ”OK” to continue. (Computer will now restart). 12) While computer is restarting, you can see from the ”Blue screen” that the new service pack has been updated to the Windows NT Workstation software. Setting up HP KAYAK Workstation ULMA NT/NTi 17 ___________________________________________________________________________________ 9 HARD DISK PARTITIONING TO NTFS Partitioning will prepare the hard disks with NT File System. The procedure is as following. 1. You have to be logged on as Administrator 2. Start hard disk partitioning to NTFS (NT File System) by choosing under Windows “Start” button -> Start \ Programs \ Administrative Tools \ Disk Administrator. After chosen this, following window will open. Figure 7. Partitioninig for ULMA system From opening window chose the “Tools” menu, where format and assing drive letter options are. Assing correct drive letters and format partitions to NTFS as following. Station C: = 1 GB (Operating system) NTFS Station D: = 8 GB (Ulma aplications) NTFS Station E: = 9 GB (for data) NTFS Station F: = CD-ROM Each partition format will take a while, wait patient after formation is ready. Note ! If having trouble using disk administrator see the provided “help” feature 3. After partitioning is ready, you can start to install the nessary aplications. Setting up HP KAYAK Workstation ULMA NT/NTi 18 ___________________________________________________________________________________ 10 ADJUSTING THE START UP MENU For adjusting the Start up delay to 5 second’s and removing the unnessessary MS-DOS selection from Start up menu, you have to do following. 1. You have to be Logged on as Administrator 2. Choose from My Computer file C:\boot.ini and edit the properties 3. Edit the file properties by changing the “Read Only” option, so you can edit the file 4. After this, open the file for editing by “double click it” and following window will open. Figure 8. Editing the boot.ini From opening window change the timout option to 5 “timeout=5” and after this remove the last row, where the MS-DOS is mentioned. After this choose File\Save and then File\Exit. 5. Then edit the C:\boot.ini properties by changing the Read Only option back 6. After this boot the machine and check that the adjutments are correct in the Start Up Menu. Setting up HP KAYAK Workstation ULMA NT/NTi 19 ___________________________________________________________________________________ 11 CREATING A ULMA USER 1. You have to be logged on as Administrator 2. Start making a ulma user by choosing under Windows “Start” button -> Start \ Programs \ Administrative Tools \ User Manager. After chosen this, following window will open. Figure 9. User Manager Create a ULMA User by chosing from the opening window -> User \ New User, after window is opened fill in right information as following. Figure 10. Making a ULMA User Type for the Username “ULMA” and choose “Password Never Expires” option. After this, you have to give “ULMA user” right to change the system time. Choose from “User Manager” -> Policies \ User Rights and following window will open Figure 11. User Rights Policy Choose from opening window “Right to change the system time” and after this choose “Add” button, and following window will open. Figure 12. Type to opening search window “ULMA” and push “Search”button. Figure 13. Searching ULMA user After finding the MASTER_PC\ULMA user, click “Add” button and few times “OK” to make ULMA user settings complete. 5. After this ULMA User settings are ready for use, whitout password Setting up HP KAYAK Workstation ULMA NT/NTi 22 ___________________________________________________________________________________ 12 SETTING UP THE ULMA APPLICATION SOFTWARE 1. Log on to NT as Administrator. 2. Insert the ULMA Software CD into the CD-ROM Station. 3. Install the CIM1 Driver from the CD-ROM , by starting from CIM1 directory the Setup program. After this Setup will ask few guestions, next for continue. (Setup installs the drivers to c:\) 4. Install the CIM2 Driver from the CD-ROM, by starting from CIM2 directory the Setup program. After this Setup will ask few guestions, next for continue. (Setup installs the drivers to c:\) 5. Install the Master software from the CD-ROM, by starting from MASTER\DISK1 directory the Setup program . After this Setup will ask few questions, next for continue. (Setup installs the Master software to d:\ULMANT50\REAL\MASTER) 6. Install the ULMA help from the CD-ROM, by starting from HELP_DISKS directory the Setup program. After this Setup will ask few questions, next for continue. (Setup installs the Help_disks to d:\) 7. After this Reboot the Workstation and log on as ULMA User. Make a sortcut from d:\ULMANT50\REAL\MASTER\Alonde50.exe to DeskTop and Rename it to “MASTER STATION”. 8. After this Ulma is ready for tuning or restoring the parameters by making a Backup Restore (for BackUp Restore See Operator’s manual 5.3.8.9 ). After this is made ulma is ready to Operate. Setting up HP KAYAK Workstation ULMA NT/NTi 23 ___________________________________________________________________________________ 13 INSTALLING THE SNAGIT SOFTWARE Snagit software is designed for printing the selected display area’s. Installation procedure is as following. 1. You have to be Logged on as Administrator 2. Insert the Snagit Software CD into the CD-ROM station. 3. Start the Setup program “Setup.exe” and setup starts 4. First will set up ask, the destination directory where to install the Snagit software. Choose Following directory -> C:\Program Files\TechSmith\Snagit32. 5. For the program Shortcuts choose following - Create shortcut on Desktop Create shortcut in StartUp (start Snagit automatically) Set shortcuts to start snagit minimized Create shortcuts for all system users After making this, choose “Next” to continue 6. After this, Fill in the registration name to Complete the installation (Example: Factory name, Country) After making this, choose “Finish” to continue 7. After this A WELCOME window appears, choose “Next” to continue 8. In Select Input window, choose option “Screen-capture everything you see on your screen” and after this choose “Next” to continue. 9. In Select Output window, choose option “Printer-(default Windows printer)” and after this choose “Next” to finish the Snagit installation. 10. Snagit installation ready Note! If having trouble using or configuring Snagit, see Snagit help Setting up HP KAYAK Workstation ULMA NT/NTi 24 ___________________________________________________________________________________ 14 MAKING A WINDOWS NT EMERGENCY REPAIR DISK Emergency repair diskette is maid in case of Windows NT system failure and with the diskette you are able to start Windows NT, if the system failure occurs. 1. For making a Windows NT boot diskette you need one empty 1.44 diskette. 2. Make sure that the diskette is not write protected and insert it into diskette station. 3. Choose under Windows “Start” button option “Run” and following screen will open. Figure 14. Making a Emergency Repair Diskette Type in the opening window “rdisk /s” and click “OK” to continue. After this Windows NT starts to save the nessessary configuration files. 4. After a while Windows NT will ask if you want to make a Emergency Repair Disk, ansver “YES” to continue. After this will Windows NT copy nessessary system files into the 1.44 diskette. 5. After this procedure is ready, make sure that the diskette is marked with right label “ULMA NT Emergency Repair Disk” and kept in safe . 6. Making a Emergency Repair Disk is ready
