o compete in today’s
T
multimedia communications
environment, you need a single media network that handles all information traffic — voice, data, video, and big complex building
Easy to Install, Maintain, and Afford Because you can use existing SYSTIMAX cables and connectors instead of coax, it’s often possible to transform the video capabilities of a building virtually overnight — without the time and expense of pulling new cable or tearing up floors. Moves and reconfigurations are just as simple. Jobs that once took hours or days can often be completed in minutes. With SYSTIMAX Video Solutions in place, maintaining your cabling system is a lot simpler.
management systems. This network must be able to adapt to changing needs: Do you need to connect cameras to TV monitors? Bring CATV to every desktop? Broadcast a distance learning feed to multiple locations? The SYSTIMAX Structured Connectivity Solution (SCS) is a cost effective solution which includes video along with your voice and data applications.
SYSTIMAX SCS Adapters for Video Solutions In today’s environment, video usually operates on a separate coaxial cabling system. To connect video signals from coax to unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) cabling, Lucent Technologies offers these SYSTIMAX SCS video solutions: • 385 Distribution Panel – distributes CATV signals 196 feet to up to sixteen locations over GigaSPEED® or Power Sum Category 5 cable. Located in the telecommunications closet or equipment room, it is a rack-mountable, passive, self-terminating 1x16 coax-to-UTP CATV signal distribution panel equipped with an F-type coaxial input connector and sixteen 8-pin output modular jacks. • 384A Video Adapter – located at the back of the TV/PC receives (77) 550 MHz CATV broadband channels from the 385DP located in the telecommunications closet up to 196 feet away. The signals are distributed over Power Sum and GigaSPEED Category 5 cabling. • 383A Distribution Amplifier – broadcasts baseband composite video, plus 2 high-fidelity audio channels to multiple locations from one source. • 380A Adapter – delivers a baseband composite video signal, plus 2 high-fidelity audio signals up to 2,500 feet. • 380BA Video Adapter – in combination with the 380B, delivers analog composite baseband video signals farther — up to 3000 feet.
• 380B Adapter – delivers a baseband composite video in a shared sheath up to 2,500 feet. • 381A Adapter – delivers baseband component Red Green Blue (RGB) 640x480 Video Graphics Array (VGA) video signal up to 500 feet, at refresh rates of up to 72 Hz.
Maximum Broadband CATV Video Distribution: 385 Distribution Panel and 384A Video Adapter combination Our 385DP/384A solution delivers up to 77 broadband 550 MHz CATV channels over SYSTIMAX Power Sum and GigaSPEED cable. You can transmit that bandwidth as far as 196 feet from any video distribution point — two ways. Furthermore, the 385DP/384A combination is the first of its kind to meet the Federal Communication Commission’s stringent Part 76 specs for cable leakage. It delivers a minimum receiver signal level of 0dBmV (1mV) and supports the sharing of sheath with voice and data rates up to 16 Mbps. (See illustration below.)
Distance Learning to Multiple Sites: 383A Distribution Amplifier and 380A Adapter To broadcast a baseband video/audio source, such as a satellite receiver, to multiple locations, you simply plug the video source into a 383A Distribution Amplifier. The video/ audio coaxial feeds from the source are inserted into the amplifier; six modular jacks come out on the other end. It’s as easy as plugging in a phone. The 383A is used in conjunction with our 380A Adapter to connect TV monitors up to 2,500 feet from any video/audio source. For wider distribution, you can “daisy chain” up to ten 383A Distribution Amplifiers for video delivery to as many as 60 locations.
The 384A Video Adapter in combination with the 385 Distribution Panel lets you deliver CATV — all 77 channels of it — to sites up to 196 feet from the nearest coax. And you can do it on the same SYSTIMAX Category 5 cabling that carries your voice and data traffic.

Closed-Circuit TV on UTP: 380B Adapter For closed-circuit TV (CCTV) applications, the 380B Adapter transforms basic UTP cable into a powerful security conduit. Along with the video signal, you can transmit full pan/tilt/ zoom (PTZ) camera control signals within the same cable sheath. This versatile adapter allows you to optimize the use of twisted pairs in a cable sheath. A single four-pair cable can feed signals from four separate, non-synchronized, fixed video cameras to a TV monitor up to 2,500 feet away. If you have fewer video sources, the unused wire pairs can be used for pan/tilt/zoom control.
The 380B and 380BA Combination Gives You Greater Distances Than Ever Before The 380BA Adapter is an active (powered), coax-to-unshielded twisted pair, CCTV distribution solution. This twisted-pair media device, combined with the 380B,
delivers an analog composite baseband video signal over UTP cabling a distance of up to 3000 feet, while helping to ensure a minimum receive signal level of no less than –3dB. The 380BA is equipped with a BNC connector for CCTV signal input (female). The 380BA supports sheath sharing of the video signal with baseband voice, data and PTZ With our 380B Adapter, a single twisted-pair signals within the wire can carry both video and pan/tilt/zoom same 4 or 25 pair control signals between cameras and security cable. Your authorized monitoring stations up to 2500 feet apart. Lucent representative can provide updated information on sheath sharing in this environment. It also performs common-mode filtering, balancing, and impedance matching to help ensure a clear noise free signal. The 380BA is ideal for a variety of applications where remote access surveillance and monitoring is required including CCTV distribution, security, production monitoring and multimedia.

*Assumes a nominal receive signal level of 0dBmV (1mV) both within a 4-pair shared cable sheath and between bundled 4-pair cables pairing voice, data (up to 16 Mbps) and baseband video signals. The number of supported channels will be reduced for channel bandwidths of 7 and 8 MHz, and when data signals such as 100 Mbps (TP-PMD) and 155 Mbps (ATM) are also being transmitted along with CATV signals in bundled 4-pair cables. † Minimum receive signal level of no less than –3dB Power supplies compliant with the major standards are available for the 380BA and the 383A.
Computer Imaging: 381A Adapter
Warranty that gives you comfort
In the past, many computer imaging applications required three RGB coax cables. Today you can achieve the same performance over UTP cabling. Our 381A Adapter delivers 640x480 VGA color at flicker-free refresh rates of up to 72 Hz — and does it on your existing SYSTIMAX cabling.
Certified SYSTIMAX end-to-end channel installations are backed by a 20 year warranty that goes far beyond parts and labor coverage. Our Application Assurance covers standards compliant voice, data, and video applications and complex building management systems. Our products and warranty are backed by the industry-leading innovations and technical support of Bell Labs, the center of technical excellence supporting SYSTIMAX SCS.
The 381A Adapter is an excellent choice for computer-aided design (CAD), medical, educational, and financial services applications that require fine detail and superior color stability — the same fine detail and stability you can expect from all Lucent Technologies SYSTIMAX products.
