Wildcat Parents, Throughout the month of September, students throughout the district will take a series of tests called Measures of Academic Progress® (MAP®). Not only with the MAP tests provide a baseline to gauge academic growth throughout the year, but the results will also inform teachers of each student’s instructional level. All students in grades K-6 will take a reading and math assessment. Students in grades 4-6 will also take a science and language test. Your child will take each of these tests on a computer or laptop with his/her classroom teacher. Because these tests are adaptive, meaning questions will become more challenging as your student continues to answer correctly, your student will likely see questions and content for which he or she does not know the answer. In essence, MAP tests help teachers find the skills and content that students are ready to learn next. Some students may feel frustrated as the test questions get increasingly difficult. You may want to discuss the nature of this test at home, so students are not caught off guard by their MAP experience; we will be sure to talk with them at school as well. Feel free to reach out to us, or to your student's teacher, if you have any questions. Reports will come home around the first week of October. Testing Schedule (Please note that students will not be testing every day. What you see below are merely the testing windows. Individual grade levels
will determine specific dates that work best within their regular lesson plans): Grades K & 6 Sept.1st -11th

Change in Student Pickup –
If there are changes to how a student goes home after school, we prefer a note. If you need to call to make a change, we need this by 3:00. This will allow us ample time to get the message to the teacher and student before dismissal. Thank you for understanding.
Appointment times – We are trying something new this year to help you, students, and teachers. If we have a note from you stating you are picking your child up early, or for an appointment, the teachers will send them to the office so they are ready in the office when you arrive. We are going to try our best not to interrupt the whole classroom to call your child to the office. This way when you arrive, they are ready to go! Thanks for helping us out!
Attendance – Remember to call the Wilson attendance line (852-9565) by 9:30 a.m., or email
[email protected] if your child is going to be absent or tardy. This year SchoolMessenger will send out an automated message to whatever # you assigned on infosnap. Your child will be marked as an unexcused absence until we hear from you. If you have questions, please contact Kelly Palazzolo.
Parent / Student Handbook –
Your child should have brought home “page 1” of the handbook. We need this returned after you have reviewed the handbook (Wilson Parent-Student Handbook). Anyone requesting a hardcopy of the handbook can email Patty Snead, and we will send it home with your child.
Early Dismissal Forms – Early dismissal forms have been sent home. Please fill these out as soon as possible and return to school. These forms will be used in the event we are forced to dismiss school early for an emergency or weather related event – heat or snow.
