Before you do a control unit/module update, make sure the battery in the vehicle is fully charged.
^
If you're updating a control module/unit on a new vehicle, make sure all its fuses were installed at TQI.
^ To prevent control unit/module damage, do not operate anything electrical (audio system, brakes, A/C, power windows, moonroof, etc.) during the update. ^
Do not connect an additional power supply to the GNA600, the HDS, or the HIM when it is connected to the vehicle; power is supplied through the DLC.*
^
When you replace an ECM/PCM, always update the new one.
^
Some '07 RDX vehicles may set several B-CAN DTCs during the programming process. You can either clear the DTCs after you have completed programming the PCM, or remove the No. 23 backup fuse from the under-dash fuse/relay box prior to programming the PCM.
^
After you replace an ECM/PCM, use the HDS to instruct the new ECM/PCM and the immobilizer control unit-receiver to recognize each other's unique serial code.
^
Depending on the vehicle, ECM/PCM replacement may require you to do one or more of the following actions. Refer to the appropriate service manual for details. -
^
Idle learn Pulser feedback (F/B) learn (low and high rpm) Maintenance minder reset Enter VIN information to ECM/PCM Clear DTC for no VIN information ECM/PCM
If you need to diagnose the HIM because the red, No. 3 light came on or was flashing during an update, leave the ignition switch in the ON (II) position while you disconnect the HIM from the DLC (data link connector). This prevents control module/ unit damage.
*UPDATING PRECAUTIONS* To ensure that the control module/unit is not permanently damaged during updating, verify that the vehicle's 12-volt battery is fully charged before starting an ECM/PCM update. NOTE: If the vehicle's 12-volt battery drops below 10 Volts during the update, the programming status bar may go past 100 percent, or the HDS may display an error message.
If you have a problem (D4/immobilizer light flashes, HDS freezes, etc.) during a programming procedure, minimize the chances of damaging an ECM/PCM by:
^
CRITICAL: Leaving the ignition switch in the ON (II) position.
^
Connecting a jumper battery (DO NOT connect a battery charger).
^
Disconnecting the GNA600 from the vehicle's DLC.
^
Shutting down the HDS.
^
Disconnecting the HDS from the vehicle's DLC.
^
Rebooting the HDS.
