S132 USB/RS232 AND USB/RS485-RS422 CONVERTER
SINTESY.eagle.S132 is a device which is able to add to to your own desktop PC or laptop a new COM port, created by a USB port. The new COM port can be RS232 (in case of model S132-1) or RS485 / RS422 (in case of S132-2). The same PC can use one or more S132 in order to create multiple connections. Thanks to this converter, the problem related to the use of the COM ports with new generation PCs without them is finally solved.
The dip switch allows to configure the working mode at 4 wires (RS422 mode) or 2 wires (RS485 mode). In 2 wires mode the TX+ and RX+ signals are internally connected. In the same way, TX- and RX- signals are internally connected. The device S132-2 allows to create multidrop communication bus in a simple and convenient way. SINTESY provides the software drivers to work with different operating systems.
The communication of the inner RS485 line driver from RX to TX doesn’t require any specific software. In fact, the driver is automatically enabled during transmission phases, whereas it is disabled during the receiving ones. If the device is configured as RS422 the driver is always active. RX+ and RX- lines are endowed with some inner pull-up and pull-down resistance to make the line stable and uninfluenced by any disorder. By the dip switch, it is also possible to activate the 150 ohm termination resistance.
