Simply plug the adapter’s pre-wired jumper cable into the RJ-11 jack on certain Click devices, then use the included USB cable to connect from the adapter to your computer. This item shall govern the purchase of a serial to USB adapter equivalent to the Wavetronix Click USB to RS-485 mini-converter assembly. 2 .0 Product Description. The adapter shall convert between USB and RS-485, allowing devices that are communicating via RS485 to be connected to and accessed by a computer. 3.0 Physical. The adapter shall not exceed 0.23 lbs. (104.3 g) in weight. The adapter shall not exceed 2.6 x 1.3 x 0.6 in. (6.5 x 3.2 x 1.6 cm) in its physical dimensions. The adapter shall operate in the temperature range of 32°F to 158°F (0°C to 70°C). The adapter shall be able to stored in the temperature range of -40°F to 185°F (-40°C to 85°C). The adapter shall operate in humidity up to 95% RH. 4.0 Power. The adapter shall receive power from the connected computer via the USB port. The adapter shall operate using an average of 0.5 W of power at 5 VDC. 5.0 Connections. The adapter shall have a removable 5-position screw terminal block for RS-485; this terminal block shall come pre-wired to a jumper cable. The adapter shall also have a USB type B female connector for USB communication. 6.0 Communication. The adapter shall convert between RS-485 and USB. The adapter shall use five-wire RS-485 with a data rate of up to 921.6 Kbps. The adapter shall use backward-compatible USB 2.0 with a data rate of up to 12 Mbps. 7 .0 Configuration Software. The drivers necessary to use the adapter with a computer shall be included on a CD. Drivers shall be available for use with Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP and Vista. 8.0 Regulatory. The adapter shall be FCC- and CE-approved. 9.0 Accessories. The adapter shall come with the following accessories: • The CD that includes the drivers necessary to use the adapter with a computer • A 3.3-ft. (1-m) USB cable with a type A connector on one end and a type B connector on the other • A 5-ft. (1.5-m) RS-485 jumper cable with an RJ-11 connector; the other end shall be pre-wired to the removable terminal block on the adapter 10.0 Warranty.
