S YSTIUM ® M ODEL WD101-00K USB W ATCH D OG M ODULE K IT I NSTALLATION I NSTRUCTIONS Interior Installation Instructions The USB Watch Dog (USBWD) Module Kit comes with the components shown in the above picture: USB Watch Dog module, Data Sheet, USB Cable, 2 wire Reset Cable, and 2 wire Power Cycle cable. USBWD Connections:  Use the supplied USB cable to connect to the 4 pins shown in Figure 1.  Connect the Enclosure 2 pin Power Switch cable to one of the 2 PWR positions on the USBWD board as shown in Figure 2.  Connect the supplied 2 pin Power Switch (Red & White) cable to the motherboard PWR SW connector  Connect the Enclosure 2 pin Reset Button cable to one of the 2 RST positions on the USBWD board as shown in Figure 2.  Connect the supplied 2 pin Reset cable to the motherboard RST connector Software Setup: The USB Channel is translated into a Serial Com port once the appropriate Windows driver is loaded. Visit http:\\www.ftdichip.com/drivers/VCP.htm and download the driver for your version of Windows. Once the driver is installed, open up the System Device Manager and determine which serial port is assigned to the USBWD. It will be identified in the Device Manager as USB Serial Port (COMxx). USBWD Test: Available on the Systium Website is an exerciser for the USBWD. It is called the USB19-Exerciser1. Download, unzip, and install the Exerciser. Run the exerciser, select the proper COM port using the selection box in the upper right hand corner of the dialog menu. Then experiment with the USB19Exerciser1 to ensure that the USBWD is working properly. See Figure 3. Available on the Systium Website is a detailed user manual with explanations of all of the functions available on the USBWB. NOTE: Exercise caution when playing with the exerciser. A full Power Cycle Reset can be executed from the control panel. Neatness Counts: Use cable ties and hold downs to secure the cables. Use UL approved tape to mount the PCB in the enclosure.
