The electric string trimmer must not be used by anyone under the age of 16. Always make sure the trimmer is in proper working condition before use. Before connecting the trimmer to the electric outlet, make sure that the rotating parts are not damaged. Do not use the trimmer if the cutting device is not secured properly or is damaged. Before starting the trimmer, make sure that the trimmer line is not touching stones or debris. Always wear suitable clothing when using the trimmer to prevent head, hand, and/or feet injuries. Use a helmet, safety spectacles, or goggles at all times when operating this tool. High boots (or sturdy shoes and trousers) and work gloves are recommended. When the trimmer is in operation, keep the cutting section away from all parts of the body. Do not start the trimmer when it is upside down or when it is not in the proper working position. Turn the trimmer off and disconnect the plug when: the trimmer is not in use; it is left unattended; it is being examined because it is not working correctly; the power supply cable is damaged; the trimming line spool is being removed or changed; or when the trimmer is being moved from one place to another. Children and other spectators, including pets, should be kept at least 50 feet (15 meters) away from the work area. When the grass is cut, stones and debris contained in the grass can be picked up by the trimmer and subsequently dispersed into the air. There flying projectiles can cause blindness or other bodily injury. Remain in a stable and secure position when operating the trimmer. Keep the cutting area free of wires, stones, and debris. Do not cut against hard objects. This could cause injury or damage the trimmer. Use the edge of the guard to keep the trimmer away from walls, surefaces, delicate objects, and other miscellaneous items.
CAUTION: The safety guard is critical to the safety of the operator and the safety of people standing within a safe distance of the trimmer. The safety guard keeps the trimmer is good working order and must always be in place during operation. Failure to have the guard in place during operation is dangerous and will void the warranty. z Keep away from the cutting line – It can seriously injure the skin. z Avoid accidentally starting – Do not carry a plugged‐in tool with your finger on the trigger. Make sure the switch is off before plugging in the tool. z Do not force the tool – It will do the job better and with less likelihood of injury, if it is used at the rate for which it is designed. z Use the right tool – Do not use this tool for any job except that for which it is intended. z Do not overreach – Keep proper footing and balance at all times.

Do not try to stop the cutting device with your hands – Always let it come to a stop by itself. Inspect electrical cables – The insulation of the power cord should be perfectly intact. If the power cord is damaged or shows any signs of cracks, do not use the trimmer. Contact your authorized service dealer or call 1‐866‐591‐8921.
CAUTION: The trimmer line spool will continue to rotate after turning the trimmer OFF. Wait until the trimmer line spool has completed stopped before making contact. z Only use the same type of line originally provided with the trimmer. z Do not use the trimmer to cut grass that is not in contact with the ground. z Do not switch the grass trimmer on in enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces or in the presence of flammable and/or explosive substances such as liquids, gases, and powders. z The user of the grass trimmer is responsible for any damage sustained by third parties that has been caused by the grass trimmer within the working area. z Only cut during broad daylight or with adequate artificial light. z Do not cross roads or gravel paths while the trimmer is still running. z When the trimmer is not in use, store it in a dry place and out of the reach of children. z The trimmer must be operated in a vertical position, perpendicular to the ground. z Check regularly that all screws are properly secured.
Electrical Safety z Avoid a dangerous environment. To reduce the risk of electrical shock. Do not use in rain, in damp or wet locations, or around swimming pools , hot tubs, etc. Do not expose to snow, rain, or water to avoid the possibility of electrical shock. Do not use on wet surfaces. Do not handle extension card plug or unit with wet hands. Avoid dangerous situations. Do not use in the presence of flammable liquids or gases to avoid creating a fire or explosion and/or causing damage to unit. Do not abuse cord. Never carry the unit by the extension cord or yank extension cord to disconnect unit. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord. Do not use cord as a handle, close a door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners. Turn off all controls before unplugging. Do not expose cords to heat, oil, or water. Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If unit is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, send it to your authorized service dealer for repair. Unplug the unit from the power source when not in use, before servicing, cleaning, performing maintenance, or storing. z Use only a voltage supply as shown on the nameplate of the unit. z Avoid dangerous environments. Do not use in unventilated areas or where dust or explosive vapors can build up. z To reduce the risk of electrical shock, this unit has a polarized plug (i.e. one blade is wider than the other) and will require the use of a polarized extension cord. The appliance plug will fit into a polarized extension cord only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the extension cord, reverse the plug. If the plug still does not fit, obtain a correct polarized extension cord. A polarized extension cord will require the use of a polarized wall outlet. This plug will fit into the polarized wall outlet only one way. If plug does not fit fully into the wall outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper wall outlet. Do not change the equipment plug, extension cord receptacle, or extension cord plug in any way. z To reduce the risk of electrical shock, use extension cords specifically marked as suitable for

outdoor appliances. The electrical rating of the cord must not be less than the rating of the unit. The cord must be marked with the suffix “W‐A” (in Canada, “W”). Make sure your extension cord is in good condition. Inspect extension cord before use and replace if damaged. An undersized extension cord will cause a drop inline voltage resulting in loss of power and overheating. If in doubt, use the next heavier gauge. The smaller the gauge number, the heavier the cord. Do not use multiple cords. Keep the extension cord clear of operator and obstacles at all times. Tie cord to cord retainer and connect to recessed plug as shown in this manual to prevent damage to unit and/or extension cord and to reduce the possibility of the extension cord disconnecting from the unit during operation. Do not attempt to repair unit. Inspect the insulation and connectors on the unit and extension cord before each use. If there is any damage, do not use until damage is repaired by your authorized service dealer. Do not use the unit if the switch does not turn the unit on and off properly. Have the unit repaired by your authorized service dealer. Avoid any body contact with any grounded conductor, such as metal fences, or pipes, to avoid the possibility of electric shock. Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) protection should be provided on the circuit or outlet to be used for this unit. Receptacles are available having built‐in GFCI protection and may be used for this measure of safety. Stop the motor immediately if you are approached.
Double Insulation Construction This unit is double insulated to help protect against electric shock. Double insulation construction consists of two separate “layers” of electrical insulation instead of grounding. Tools and appliances built with a double insulation system are not intended to be grounded. No grounding means is provided on this unit, nor should a means of grounding be added to this unit. As a result, the exten‐ sion cord used with your unit can be plugged into any standard 120 volt electrical outlet. Safety precautions must be observed when operating any electrical tool. The double insulation system only provides added protection against injury resulting from an internal electrical insulation failure.
WARNING: All electrical repairs to this unit, including housing, switch, motor, etc., must be diagnosed and repaired by qualified service personnel. Replacement parts for a double insulated appliance must be identical to the parts they replace. A double insulated appliance is marked with the words “double insulation” or “double insulated”. The symbol
(square within a square) may also be
marked on the appliance. Failure to have the unit repaired by authorized service personnel can cause the double insulation construction to become ineffective and result in serious injury. EXTENSION CORD – Make sure your extension cord is in good condition. When using an extension cord, be sure it is heavy enough to carry the current your product will draw. An undersized extension cord will cause a drop in line voltage resulting in loss of power and overheating.
It is possible to tie the extension cord and power cord in a knot to prevent them from becoming disconnected during use. Make the knot as shown, then connect the plug end of the power cord into the receptacle end of the extension cord. This method can also be used to tie two extension cords together.
