To start building your plate you need to choose what plate type you are looking for. Below is the parts list menu. To start building your plate or panel, first decide what you need it to be. If it’s a wallplate choose wall plates in the menu, if it is a rack panel please choose rack panel in the menu. A visual of the categories is provided below, figure 4.1 Figure 4.1 Tel: 800-526-0242 – Fax 201-814-0510 80 Little FallsRoad Fairfield New Jersey 07004 www.comprehensivecable.com 20 As you can see, I have exploded the menu so I can choose the plate I am looking for. In this example we can see a Single gang Black wall plate with an anodized aluminum finish. I have also exploded the Rack Panel category and have selected a 1 rack space panel with a black anodized aluminum finish. Both are circled however you can only use one plate or rack panel per drawing. I will choose the wall Plate in this instance 2. To choose my plate I will run my mouse on top of it click and hold then drag to my worksheet and let go, see figure 4.2 Figure 4.2 As you can see in figure 4.2 as I drag the description of the item to the work sheet the image of that item will appear. I can now place that anywhere on the work sheet. 3. To add a connector I will do the same process. I will find the connector I want and drag it onto the worksheet and place it on the plate where I would like it to appear. See figure 4.3 Tel: 800-526-0242 – Fax 201-814-0510 80 Little FallsRoad Fairfield New Jersey 07004 www.comprehensivecable.com 21 figure 4.3 4. I have now added a few more connectors to the plate and I am viewing it with toggle clearances so I can get a better view of what the finished piece will look like. See figure 4.4 Figure 4.4 Tel: 800-526-0242 – Fax 201-814-0510 80 Little FallsRoad Fairfield New Jersey 07004 www.comprehensivecable.com 22 5. To place text on the plate or around any of the connectors please click the text Button on the tool bar and your pointer will now become a cursor. Click on the plate where you would like the text. This allows you to insert text, format text size and alignment options see figure 4.5 Figure 4.5 You can now see in figure 4.5 where I have placed my text and the options I have to manipulate it. After clicking OK and selecteing the arrow, (selection) tool I can now move the text anywhere on the plate I desire. I am happy with how my plate came out and am ready to place my order. Section 5: Placing your order and saving your work 1. Saving your Work. We have now designed the wall plate and I would like to save my work and then place my order. When saving your wall plate or rack panel there are several different file formats to choose from, these options are: • Comprehensive Platemasters Design Tool File (.cpd) • AutoCAD File (.dwg) • Adobe PDF File (.pdf) Save your file in a location that you will be able to access every time in case you need to refer back to your design Tel: 800-526-0242 – Fax 201-814-0510 80 Little FallsRoad Fairfield New Jersey 07004 www.comprehensivecable.com 23 1a.
