Functionality and accuracy cannot always be guaranteed due to the need for proper visibility of the GPS system’s satellites. • In normal mode, the device registers and stores the position every 5 minutes (user configurable). Under certain circumstances the sent position may not be current. Please carefully read the section Important information at the end of this User Guide. • For best GPS performance and accuracy, ensure that the YOYOCare is carried as uncovered as possible. If carried in the special pouch, it should be worn outside outdoor clothing. • To ensure continuous operation, it’s advisable that the YOYOCare is charged daily. 1 Get to know your YOYOCare Features and functions 1. Insert the SIM card You need a SIM card with a valid subscription for voice communications, MMS and GPRS data traffic. Remove the back cover and unlock the SIM card holder. Lift the SIM card holder and place the SIM card with the gold plated contact area facing the device. Close and lock the SIM card holder. Insert the battery and close the back cover. Note! As YOYOCare uses MMS for sending photos and GPRS for data transmission, please make sure your GSM subscription has sufficient credit. Ensure your SIM card lock (PIN code) is deactivated before inserting the SIM card. Charge the battery The YOYOCare should be charged for 5 continuous hours before using it for the first time. When charging, please power off YOYOCare for optimal battery performance. Open the rubber cover of the USB port at the bottom end of the device and plug in the mini USB connector of the charger. During charging, the Power indicator light will glow in orange. When the battery is fully charged, the Power indicator light will glow in green, Disconnect the charger from the device. Note! Always use YOYOCare original batteries and chargers for your safety. Using incompatible accessories may damage your device, cause serious injury and void the warranty. 5 Insert a microSD memory card (optional) Save your photos to the memory card. There is no memory card included in the package as YOYOCare works perfectly without. However, if you use one, photos will be saved to the memory card and can be uploaded to a PC. Maximum supported capacity is 2GB. Remove the back cover and unlock the memory card holder. Lift the memory card holder and place the memory card into the slot with the contact area facing the connectors of the device. Close and lock the memory card holder. Insert the battery and close the back cover. 6 Starting your YOYOCare Now your YOYOCare is ready for use. Take your YOYOCare to an open area where you can see the clear sky. This allows YOYOCare to receive adequate satellite signals to determine the coordinates of your location. If your YOYOCare is switched off, please follow the two steps below, before your YOYOCare can update its current location. 1. Press and hold the Power On/Off button until the green Power indicator and red GSM indicator are lit. 2. When the Power indicator flashes in green and the GSM indicator flashes red. Your YOYOCare is now ready for Master registration. Register yourself as Master Prior to operating YOYOCare, you need to register yourself as the Master of your YOYOCare. The Master will then have full access to all the features of the YOYOCare. Example: The Master has phone number +4670111111; YOYOCare has phone number +4670999999. 1. Send an SMS with the text Master to +4670999999 for registration. (**Go to the troubleshooting section if YOYOCare does not reply) 2. YOYOCare will return an SMS with “YOYO: Please reply ‘yes’ to confirm registration!” 3. Confirm by replying with an SMS with the text yes (back to +4670999999). 4. YOYOCare will respond with an SMS saying “YOYO: NEW MASTER +4670111111 is registered!” You have now registered yourself as the Master of your YOYOCare. When your GPS location is successfully obtained, the GPS indicator goes off. Note! The first time location search is important. For best GPS reception, hold your YOYOCare with the YOYOMotion logo facing upwards and with a clear path to the sky. 7 Using YOYOCare: Wearer Instructions Receiving and Making calls With YOYOCare you can receive calls from the Master or any of the registered Users, but no one else. From YOYOCare, calls can be made to the Master, User 2 or User 3. Receiving Calls By default the Auto Answer function is enabled. If the Master disables it, then pressing quick-dial buttons 1 or 2 or 3 picks up incoming calls. To Call Master, User2 or User3 Press quick-dial button 1 for Master, 2 for User 2 and 3 for User 3 To End a call Incoming (received) calls normally need no action; the caller ends the call. To end a call, press the ON/OFF button To switch between hands-free and hand-held mode Default mode is hands-free. During a call, press and hold quick-dial button 1 or 2 or 3. To adjust the volume during a call Press quick-dial button 1 or 2 or 3. Speaker volume will increase by 1 level (total 3 levels) on each press then cycles, i.e. 1, 2, 3, 1, 2… SOS Alert Button When the SOS Alert Button on YOYOCare is pressed: 1. The GPS indicator light turns red. 2. 5 beeps will be heard. 3. YOYOCare will search for a fix at the present location. 8 4. An Alert message with the last updated location will be sent to the Master, User 2, User 3 and, if configured, to an e-mail address. 5. If no location can be retrieved an SMS notification will be sent to the Master, User 2, User 3 and, if configured, to an e-mail address (via MMS). 6. YOYOCare will search for its location every 30 seconds until the alert is dismissed. The SOS Alert mode will be dismissed by either: 1. If the Auto-disable SOS Alert (command “SOSAU1”) is activated, the SOS Alert mode will cease after the SOS Alert SMS has been sent. 2. Master or User sending command “SOS0” to clear the SOS Alert mode. 3. Switching off YOYOCare. 112 SOS Call In case of emergency, the European emergency number 112 can be dialed by pressing the quickdial buttons (1, 1, 2) with half a second’s interval. 1. Emergency number 112 is dialed. 2. To end the 112 call, press the Power button.. Note! When the 112 number is dialed, the GSM LED indicator light will flash in red-green until the call is successfully connected. Low Battery Alert When the battery is running low: • The power indicator light will flash in red. • The Master will receive an SMS alert message “YOYO: Low Battery”. Note! Battery life of YOYOCare depends on how frequently the GPS location is updated. When the SOS Alert button is pressed, YOYOCare will shorten the time interval to search for location more frequently. This will drain the battery faster than normal and you should re-charge your YOYOCare as soon as possible. 9 Master and User Instructions Master and Users can interact with YOYOCare using SMS messages that contain simple formatted commands. • Basic commands can be used by Master and Users to do things like request location or request a photograph to be returned as an MMS message. • Master Commands may only be issued by the Master, and enable YOYOCare to be configured. Basic Commands Both Master and Users can use the Basic commands to communicate with YOYOCare. Get YOYOCare’s location [empty] or W or V Send a blank SMS or an SMS with a single W or V to your YOYOCare and the GPS will search for a fix at the present location (takes up to 2 minutes) and reply to user when: a) A GPS fix is found at the present location: E.g. Important information The following section is describing conditions and regulations for safe and efficient use. Please carefully review before starting to use the product. General The product must be used according to its instructions. The product is not intended as a toy for children. Nor is the product intended or suitable for camera surveillance. Note that special regulations may apply regarding photography in public places. Care The manufacturer or selling party is not responsible for the damage to the product caused by misuse, if exposed to fluids or moisture, if handled carelessly, or subjected to shock. When used outdoors it should be worn in the included carrying case (pouch). Security The product contains a GSM radio. Consult your doctor and read the instructions from any medical equipment, such as pacemakers, before using the product. 23 Turn off the product in locations where the use of mobile phones is prohibited. When the device is switched on, it emits radio waves of low intensity. The product complies with international regulations and safety guidelines regarding the use of mobile phones. Remember that if small children use the product, it should be carried, placed or attached in such a way that the child is not exposed to, or risk injuries during play or other activities. Features based on GPS The product has positioning capabilities based on GPS (Global Positioning System) and its satellites. These capabilities are provided "as is" and with "all faults" which may result in the use of GPS. Use of location-based information from satellite-based systems may be subject to error, interference and availability. The manufacturer makes no representations or warranties of any kind regarding the accuracy of such positioning information. Use of the GPS functionality Note that the GPS functionality is conditional to “line of sight” to the GPS satellites. The GPS function might be impaired or not at all functioning in certain environments such as indoors, inside road tunnels, under bridges, in areas with tall buildings, or, if kept in an environment of material (e.g. metal, several or thick layers of plastic/textile) that hinders the device and its GPS receiver from properly detecting the satellite signals used for positioning. This means that this device, like most other GPS based tracking devices, is not designed or suitable for life saving, or as a supporting device in solutions where the security or health of user or third party is dependable on the performance of the GPS functionality. Note that in normal use (unless SOS alert mode is activated - see instructions), the product will by default register a new GPS position every 5 minutes (the interval can be changed by the user – see instructions – note that a higher frequency of GPS registrations will impact battery life time). The last registered position is stored in the internal memory. At a location request, by incoming SMS or by pressing the SOS Alert button, a new position will be registered and sent. If no new position is possible to register, due to poor GPS reception, the device will instead send 24 the last position stored in the memory. In the event of recent valid GPS coverage (e.g. moving from outdoor to indoor) the stored position may be up to 5 minutes old (subject to configuration). In the event of no recent GPS coverage (e.g. the device has been indoor or turned off) a stored position may be irrelevant, or missing. GSM calls and GSM messages Emergency calls, calls and messages via the GSM network cannot be guaranteed in all circumstances. There is no guarantee that calls can be connected or messages can be sent in all areas or in all mobile networks as the functionality of the GSM based functions are dependent on network performance and availability. Battery and Charger New batteries or batteries that are not being used for some time may be less effective in the beginning. Charge the battery completely before using the product the first time. Do not put the battery in the mouth or let it come into contact with metal objects. Turn off the product before the battery is charged. Performance and battery life will depend on temperature, signal strength, usage, loading frequency etc. The battery should not be exposed to temperatures above 60°C. Warning! The battery can explode if the product is disposed of in fire. Use only the charger supplied with the product, or a charger with the corresponding specifications. Do not use the charger outdoor’s or in damp conditions. Unplug the charger when the device is fully charged. Note that if the battery is replaced, the old battery should be disposed of at a proper place for recycling or destruction. 25 EU Regulatory Conformance English: We fulfil the requirements of the R&TTE Directive (99/5/EC).
