Suggestion for use The effect is better under the environment of adequate lighting. -1- 1.4 Main Functions and Features. iBall ClickScan is for multi-functional photography. Whatever paper files, color images or three-dimensional objects can be scanned and memorized easily. It adopts special folding design, with simple, noble, decent and stable appearance. When scanning, documents and objects do not touch the Scanner, so the cardboard phenomenon found in traditional scanner is avoided. With it, you can get access to valuable video data at your own will. It gives us more functions than the usual traditional scanner. Key Features  Scanner – Captures any document or an object up to A4 size at high resolution in about one second.  Copier - It can capture a document or an object up to A4 size in one second. The captured document can be printed out via any printer.  Presenter - To project a paper document or a real object to the large screen using PC or laptop and projector.  Video Recording - Its video recording function can record the progress of any operation or demo.  OCR Function – Optical Character Recognition feature helps in conversion of images of text into characters, which can be edited. -2- Chapter II System Installation 2.1 Configuration Please make sure that the iBall ClickScan is connected to the computer before installing the software. -3- 2.2 Application Software Installation Insert the CD in CD-ROM to read automatically. Select „Software‟ to start the installation of Application. -4- Click “Next”. Enter user information, or use default information, click “Next”. -5- Click “Next”. Click “Next”, to install. -6- The software gets installed automatically. Choose “Finish”, to complete the installation. -7- Chapter III Interface Instruction of Application Software 3.1 Main Window 1. 2. Double click the shortcut „iBall ClickScan‟ on desktop, or click “Start-All Programs”- or click “Start” “All Programs” “iBall” iBall ClickScan to open the application software. Display software interface. Software interface It‟s mainly made by several parts, including: menu, toolbar, image list view, video view and image view, shortcut view, status bar, and popup menu, as the above diagram. Menu All the functions about the software can be found in the menu. Toolbar It is the shortcut of menu; user can enhance operational efficiency by using the icons displayed on the toolbar. -8- Image List Display the thumbnails scanned by current user, and it can preview, open, or delete these images conveniently. Video View Preview the video capture effects from the scanner. Image View Display the actual effect after editing the image. Shortcut It is to show the most commonly used functions, brings convenience to the user. “Open Folder” function is to open the folder with current images. Status Bar Show some information about image editing. Popup Menu User can show the menu by clicking right-button on the image list view conveniently. The popup item consists of “Delete” and “Refresh” 3.2 Menu 3.2.1 File File menu is usually used for the operation of existing file operations, including: Open, Save, Save As, Print, Print Preview, Print Setup, Print (1:1), Exit, etc. Open Open the image files stored in the computer to edit. Please make sure that the format supports this software. Otherwise, it will not open. At the same time, you can double-click the image view to do it. Save Save the edited image displayed on the image view after editing and keep the filename, format, and the path being same as the original ones. Save as Save the edited image displayed on the image view after editing and the filename, format, and the path all can be changed. Print Print the edited image displayed on the image view through the printer connected to the computer. -9- Print Preview Preview the effect before printing as the edited image effect. Different printers print differently. So you‟d better select the print preview before operating. Print Setup Choose the printer that has been installed in the computer. Print (1:1) It‟s for option-ticking menu item. Tick this option and then print; the size that is printed on the paper will be the same as the original one. Note: Make sure that the image you printed was scanned by the photocopy machine. Exit Close and exit the software. 3.2.2 Edit The main function of this menu is to control various operating processes, including: Undo & Redo. 3.2.3 View This menu is mainly used for changing the current display properties of view. It includes: Zoom In, Zoom Out, Normal Viewing, Move, Select, Text, Tracker, Set Tracker, Full Screen & Change View. Zoom In Display the image with a smaller scale. Zoom Out Display the image with a bigger scale. Normal viewing Display the image as actual scale. Move If the dimension of the current image is over the range of partial selecting, you can move the image through it to display different part of image. After finishing that, you can press left-button to any position that you want. Select It's to select a portion of image. You can press down the left-button to drag after selecting this tool; it will display a closed tracker when released. The selection is the part in the tracker. - 10 - Text You can take advantage of the tool to place some words on the current image. Type the words what you want in the text edit box (if you want to change the character, font and color, please click “Setting” button to do it), then click the position where you want to place the image in, then after click “OK”, so you can place the text to the image. Tracker You can draw a tracker line on the current image. After choosing the menu, press the left-button to drag, track the area what users want. Then release it so that the tracker can fix down. Set Tracker Set the image size, which the scanner scans. When user only needs a part of video to scan, he can set it. Steps: 1.Scan an image, 2.Open the image on the image view, 3.Use the tracker to select the proportion where you need , 4.Click “Set Tracker” button, 5.Check the “Presets” option in “Scans” “Image size”, 6.Scan an image again. Full Screen Display the image editing view or video preview view in the form of full-screen, and retain operation menu to enhance efficiency. Change View In order to convert between video preview view and image editing view, you can press key “C” shortcut to make it. Note: You cannot use shortcut when the focus is in shortcut board. 3.2.4 Images The main function of this menu is to make some processing with current image. Please refer to specific function items for more details. Mirror An image of something in which the right side appears on the left and the left side appears on the right. Flip An image of something that the head side appears on the bottom and the bottom side appears on the head. - 11 - Rotate Left (tiny) Rotate the image for counter-clockwise with 0.5 degrees. Rotate Right (tiny) Rotate the image for clockwise with 0.5 degrees. Rotate Left Rotate the image for counter-clockwise with 90 degrees. Rotate Right Rotate the image for clockwise with 90 degrees. Rotate Rotate the image for in clockwise or counter-clockwise with any degree. Resample Change the actual size of the image. Click the menu item, the resample dialog will be shown. User can choose “Factor” or indicate the width and height of image directly to alter. Under the item of latter, you only need to adjust the alternative of width and height. Varied resolution give birth to great influence of images. You can choose different resolution according to what you need. Remove selection Remove the content you have tracked, that indicates you cannot operate it at the selected range. Crop You can remove the part outside the tracker and retain the inside one when you have selected the image. Linear Filter It‟s mainly aimed at doing some processing of linear filter with image. Blur Further blur the image. Soften Soften the hard sides in the image, to makes it gentler. Gaussian 3x3 Make weighted average mount on image with matrix 3*3 of Gaussian matrix so as to soften the image. - 12 - Gaussian 5x5 Make weighted average mount on image with matrix 5*5 of Gaussian matrix so as to soften the image. Sharpen Enhance the edge effect to the image so that it will get more obvious edges. Edge Extract the edge information from the image so as to look over it easily. Emboss Display embosses effect of the image. Custom Set the matrix operators for the image to satisfy the demands what professionals need. Non Linear Filter It‟s mainly aimed at doing some processing of non linear filter with image. Add Noise Add some dots to the image. Median Non linear technology mounts the gray-scale value in each point as the adjoining median value for all the pixels with gray-scale value. Methods: a) Take out odd data point to array from the sample window. b) Replace the data that needs to deal with by arrayed median. Median filter method is very effective to pepper and salt noise elimination, it attaches importance to phase analysis processing about optical stripe measurement. However, it has nothing to do with the central analysis method. In image processing, it always uses for protecting the edge information, it‟s a classical way to smooth the noise. Selective Blur Slightly blur partial image. Unsharp Mask Blur the mask so as to sharpen it. Dilate Make dilation processing of the edge so that the thin line becomes more obvious. - 13 - Erode Make erosion processing of the edge so that the thick line becomes tinier. Contour Draw the outline of image. Edge Retain the edge on the image. Jitter To diffuse the pixel of image, and get a sandblasting effect. Text Blur Make text be blurred. Blur Selection Border Make blur selection at the border. It is useful under the prerequisite condition that the selection areas exist. Remove Red Eye Remove the red eye phenomenon in the image. Freely select the part of red eyes. Skew Correction Correct with the document image automatically. When the angle of skew is larger, Please utilize arbitrary angle of rotating. When it is smaller, you can use clockwise and counter-clockwise micro-switch function. This will get better result. OCR Optical character recognition, recognize and extract the words from the image with words so that the user receives them easily and get rid of annoyance of typing words. Note: you should adjust the direction as soon as possible, do not tilt, so to get better results. 3.2.5 Colors It‟s mainly aimed at doing some processing with the color of image. Please refer to the functions for more details. Negative Take anti-techniques from color components R, G, B in current image as anti-color processing. The effect is the same as that in the film. Gray Scale It adopts 256 grades of gray-scale value to display current color image, the effect is just as that in black-and-white TV. - 14 - Dither Use different density of black pixel to express the gray image. Histogram Adjust the quality according to the colors of red, green, and blue which takes up in the image pixel. Stretch (luminance) Stretch the histogram of the image with more luminance parameter. It is aimed at enlarging the intervals of gray scale in order to observe clearly. Stretching (linked) Stretch the histogram of the image with linked method. It is aimed at enlarging the intervals of gray scale in order to observe clearly Stretching (independent), Stretch the histogram of the image with independent method. Full Saturation Stretch the histogram of the image with a full saturation method. Half Saturation Stretch the histogram of the image with a half- saturation method. - 15 - Remove Shadow 1 Remove the shadow of image. Remove Shadow 2 Remove the shadow of image. Threshold The threshold effect converts grayscale or color images to high-contrast, black-and-white images. Specify a certain level as a threshold, all pixels lighter than the threshold convert to white and all pixels darker convert to black. After clicking it, the system will count current distribution and draw out a referred threshold, user can enter this value or any you want. Adaptive Threshold It refers to the gray scale threshold of a certain point in the image which is 0 or 255, that is to say, the whole image shows black-white state.256 levels of gray scale can still attain threshold image which reflect the overall and partial characteristics through appropriate threshold options. After clicking the item, the system will calculate current histogram distribution state, and then implement threshold processing of current image. Colorize Colorize the image. For three ways: hue, saturation, mixed degrees adjustment, RGB color quantum adjustment, brightness adjustment. Add color to a grayscale image which converted to RGB, or add color to an RGB image, for example, to make it look like a duotone image by reducing its color values to one hue. Gamma It's a way that edits for gamma curve and non-linear hue. Detect the light and dark part, and increase the proportion of them so that contrast degrees enhance. Pseudo Colors You can add colors to gray scale diagram. Human beings are not sensitive to minor changes, but extremely sensitive to colorized ones. Pseudo colors take advantage of the characteristic to enhance the resolution of that. Lighten Increase the value of a pixel in the image. Darken Reduce the value of a pixel in the image. More Contrast Increase the contrast of the image. - 16 - Less Contrast Reduce the contrast of the image. More Saturation (hsl) Increase the saturation of the image through the hsl. More Saturation (yuv) Increase the saturation of the image through the yuv. Less Saturation Reduce the saturation of the image. 3.2.6 Scans This menu is about the operation of video view and scan. Please refer to the menu for more details. Scan Scan an image by current video preview as a piece of image file, it will display automatically on image list view in the form of thumbnail to bring convenience for user. Photocopy Scan an image by video preview and print it with the printer which user select. Start Scan Scan automatically according to the interval. Stop Scan Stop the scan made by the “Start Scan”. Property Set the effect of video, including: brightness, contrast, exposure, and so on. That will get better effect. Setting It is mainly in setting and revising the information about item, name, path; interval, e-mail, etc. as follows: Image Format Check this menu item to select the image format of scan, please refer to the introduction for more details. Image Size Check this menu item to choose the image size of scan. Including: Default, A4, - 17 - A5, A6, A7, Business Card, ID Card, Presets. Default The size will be the video size. A4 Scale of the final image is right for an A4 paper size. A5 Scale of the final image is right for an A5 paper size. A6 Scale of the final image is right for an A6 paper size. A7 Scale of the final image is right for an A7 paper size. Business Card The final size is for the standard business card. ID Card The final size is for the second generation of ID card. Presets User can insert the image dimension which you want. Generally speaking, the option takes on gray image, you do not use this function until you have preset the size, please refer to “Set Tracker”. Rotate This menu is for option-ticking. The location of video view window is fixed. If you want to rotate the scanned image, you can tick what you want, including: Normal, Rotate Left and Rotate Right. 1. No Rotate: after scanning, the image will not be rotated. 2. Rotate Left: after scanning, the image will rotate by 90 degrees in clockwise with current direction. 3. Rotate Right: after scanning, the image will rotate by 90 degrees in counter-clockwise with current direction. Video Size You can select appropriate video preview dimension to satisfy different operation. The options are: Window: video preview dimension displays in terms of the size of interface; Normal: video preview dimension displays in terms of the actual output factor. 3.2.7 Tools It provides some relevant tools to satisfy some users' demands. Pic2PDF Provide a tool to convert image to PDF file. Recorder Provide a tool for video recorder. - 18 - 3.2.8 Help About Scanner Display a dialog about the software. How to use OCR? Answer: You must install Microsoft Word to execute OCR function of this software, so please install it. - 19 - 2. How to enhance OCR ratings? Answer: OCR ratings lie in the definition and contrast, under these two conditions, it almost comes to 95%. Meanwhile, it promises the following terms: (1) Crop the segment only with words. (2) Make sure the words are not slant (if declined, please firstly revolve the image first). (3) Adjust video property to high definition. 3. How to copy a book? Answer: First set intervals for periodic shooting, and save the filename and path. Then choose “Start Scan” to copy a book easily. If you hope to make PDF document, please refer to No.6. 4. How to add words to scan image? Answer: Click “View” “Text”, enter words to intercalation diagram, then click “OK” and click the location where you want to place. 5. How to edit text files? Answer: Making OCR function of which needs editing after shooting, you cannot only edit in the recognized diagram, but also edit by sending it to Word. - 20 - 6. How to create PDF files? Answer: Using Pic2PDF as follows: You‟d better utilize JPG format to scan because of its high-quality and minimemory, this software has been restricted in converting JPG and TIF into PDF format. For more specific details: Convert one or more pieces of pictures into correspondent PDF document. (1) Click “Open”, choose the image files what you need to convert, if they are in different catalogues, and please open for more times to choose. Image files will be added to list in order. (2) If you‟re not satisfied with the sequence, please use other mobile tools to array. (3) If you want to convert image file into PDF file, you can click “Browse” at the same column to ensure it. If you want to convert image into independent PDF document, please click “Browse” at the same level, then choose the path you want. (4) Click “Make PDF”.
