The chassis supports up to fifteen media converters which are hot-swappable. The chassis is provided with an integral 100 ~ 240Vac, 3.3A power supply and an AC power cord. Please contact you dealer or distributor if a part is missing or damaged within 10 days of receiving products. 2.2 Configurations 2.2.1 Physical Connections P1 P2 FA FB Chassis front view Chassis rear view Manual-EE1R3_Series-Rev1208A Copyright © KBC Networks Ltd. 2012 Page 4 of 12 www.kbcnetworks.com Extended Ethernet User Manual 2.3 Installation Method 2.3.1 Chassis  Remove all packaging material  If chassis is to be mounted in a 19” enclosure, attach the supplied rack mount brackets to the converter chassis.  Locate the converter chassis with the 19” mounting rails and attach using the screws provided.  With the power switch in the ‘OFF’ position, connect the power cord and then select the ‘ON’ position for the power switch.  Insert the EE1CL units into the EE1R3 chassis as required.  Connect required media cables to the EE1CL devices. See section 3.5 for LED status. 2.4 Power Connections This unit must be powered by a 100 ~ 240Vac, 3.3A power supply, this is an integral unit which is supplied with the chassis. If the green light does not come on check that the power switch is in the ‘ON’ position. With power to the chassis the green fan light should be lit to show that the fan is functioning correctly. The warranty period on the repaired or replaced part or portion of this product shall be limited to the unexpired term of the original warranty. The buyer shall be responsible for all shipping and transportation of the product to KBC for any performance under this warranty. 2) Conditions and Exceptions: a) Any accident to this product, any misuse or abuse, alternation, use in modified form, or any attempt to repair this product shall void this warranty. These conditions to the warranty include, but are not limited to, incorrect power connections, physical damage due to mechanical shock, exposure to moisture, and circuit modification. b) SHOULD THIS PRODUCT PROVE DEFECTIVE FOLLOWING PURCHASE, THE BUYER, NOT THE MANUFACTURER, DISTRIBUTOR, OR RETAILER, ASSUMES THE ENTIRE COST OF ALL SERVICING OR REPAIR, EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED BY THE TERMS OF THIS WARRANTY. c) FOR BREACH OF ANY WRITTEN OR IMPLIED WARRANTY ON THIS PRODUCT, THE BUYER IS LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING DAMAGES. (1) THE COST OF LABOR TO REPAIR OR REPLACE DEFECTIVE PARTS OR PORTIONS OF THIS PRODUCT, AND (2) THE COST OF THE REPAIRED OR REPLACE PARTS OR PORTIONS OF THIS PRODUCT. d) NO OTHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES HAVE BEEN MADE OR WILL BE MADE ON BEHALF OF KBC WITH RESPECT TO THE SALE, REPAIR, INSTALLATION, OPERATION, OR REPLACEMENT OF THIS PRODUCT. In a domestic environment this product may cause radio interference in which case the user may be required to take adequate measures. 6.3 FCC This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial environment. This equipment generates uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause harmful Interference to radio communications. Operation of this equipment in a residential area is likely to cause harmful interference in which case the user will be required to correct the interference at this own expense. 6.4 UL Elevated Operating Ambient - If installed in a closed or multi-unit rack assembly, the operating ambient temperature of the rack environment may be greater than room ambient. Therefore, consideration should be given to installing the equipment in an environment compatible with the maximum ambient temperature (Tma) specified by the manufacturer. Reduced Air Flow - Installation of the equipment in a rack should be such that the amount of air flow required for safe operation of the equipment is not compromised. Mechanical Loading - Mounting of the equipment in the rack should be such that a hazardous condition is not achieved due to uneven mechanical loading. Circuit Overloading - Consideration should be given to the connection of the equipment to the supply circuit and the effect that overloading of the circuits might have on overcurrent protection and supply wiring. Appropriate consideration of equipment nameplate ratings should be used when addressing this concern. Reliable Earthing - Reliable earthing of rack-mounted equipment should be maintained. Particular attention should be given to supply connections other than direct connections to the branch circuit (e.g. use of power strips).
