[RIDE] 3 Electronic Drum Assembly Instruction Drum Stand Assembly 1 1.Insert the left support into the base rack clamp, tighten the set-screw. 2.Set up the knighthead, tighten (1) (2) the set-screw. 2 1.Insert the right support into the base rack clamp, tighten the set-screw. (1) 2.Set up the knighthead, tighten (2) 3 the set-screw. (1) 1.Insert the mid-tube into left and right support rack clamps. (2) Tighten the set-screw with (2) your tuning key. 2.Set up the knighthead. Tighten the set-screw with your tuning key. 4 Electronic Drum 4 Insert the left and right support arm into the rack clamp. Tighten the set-screw. Drum Pad Assembly 1 1.Insert the rod into the pad hole, set to a fine- position and tighten the screw. 2.Insert the pad rod into rack clamp, set to a fine- position and tighten the T-screw. Cymbal and Hi-hat Assembly 1 Insert the cymbal stand(longer) into the rack clamp and tighten the T-screw. 5 Electronic Drum 2 Insert the Hi-Hat stand(the shorter one) into the rack clamp and tighten the T-screw. 3 wing nut felt washer 1.Take out the wing nut and felt washer. 2.Place the cymbal over the tilter peg. put the felt washer and wing nut onto the cymbal. Tilt the cymbal to your preference. Hi-Hat Cymbal Crash Cymbal Module Assembly 1 1.Insert the module into the rack clamp. 2.Tighten the T-screw. 6 Electronic Drum Kick Assembly 1 Place the snare onto the plate(1), tighten the screw. 1 2 Screw Set up plate(2) and tighten the screw. 2 1 3 3 Set up plate(4) on the plate (3), tighten the screw with your screw-driver. 4 7 Electronic Drum 4 2 1 2 1 3 4 Set up plate(3) on the plate (2), and mount the plate (4) on the plate (1), tighten the screw with your screw-driver. 4 3 5 Attach drum pedal to the batter side hoop with hoop holder clamp and tighten the T-screw. 6 Insert the beater shaft into the beater link and tighten the key bolt. 8 Electronic Drum Caution! To prevent electric shock and damage to the devices, make sure the power is switched OFF on the drum and all related device before making any connection. Connecting the Pads and Pedals Using the provided cables, connect each Trigger input jack on the rear panel of the module and make sure each pad is connected to its corresponding Trigger input jack. MIDI DATA MIDI IN MIDI OUT Receive MIDI Data Use a MIDI cable to connect the MIDI IN jack on the drum brain with the MIDI OUT jack on the external MIDI device. MIDI DATA MIDI OUT MIDI IN Connecting a CD Player, etc. (AUX IN jack) The audio output from a CD player connected to the AUX IN jack on the rear panel can be mixed with the sound of the drum brain. This function is convenient when you want to play along with a favourite song. Use the AUX IN volume knob to adjust the volume of the external signal. CD player AUX IN 10 Electronic Drum Connecting an Amplifier When you want to listen to the voices with an amplifier, connect amplifiers to the MASTER OUT jack on the rear panel. Use the MASTER VOLUME knob to adjust the volume. MASTER OUT AMPLIFIER Connecting Headphone The headphone can be connected to the electronic drum. The headphone jack is located on the front of the module. Use the PHONE VOLUME knob to adjust the headphone volume. PHONES JACK Connecting the Power Supply Use the POWER switch located on the side of the module to turn off the electronic drum, then connect the power adaptor to the DC IN (9V 350mA) jack on the rear panel. DC 9V 11 Electronic Drum Start to Play the Drum 1. Switch the Power On Make sure all the devices, pads and external devices are connected properly, then turn the power on. When the drum module can be operated, the text for selecting the drum kit will appear in the LED-display. POWER ON OFF 2. Set the Main Volume While hitting a pad, gradually adjust the main volume to a comfortable volume level by turning master volume knob. VOLUME CONTROLS MASTER MIN MAX PHONES MIN MAX AUX IN MIN MAX 3. Enter and Return Enter Press [ENTER] button, enter the function which you select, save the parameters which you set. The content of the LED-display will return to the previous menu after saving. ENTER Return Press [ ] button, the content of LED-display will return to the previous menu, the current setting will not be saved. 4. Tempo Press the [TEMPO tempo value. Press the [TEMPO Range:020-240. ]or[TEMPO ]buttons, display shows the current ]or[TEMPO ]buttons to increase or decrease the tempo. You also can turn the data dial to change the tempo. Press [TEMPO ] and [TEMPO tempo to default value. ] buttons at the same time to reset the 12 Electronic Drum 4.1 Tap Tempo Function This function allows you to set the song's tempo by tapping in tempo on a pad. Press [TEMPO ]or [TEMPO ] button. LED shows the tempo value. TEMPO Then press [ENTER] button, the tempo value is flashing. ENTER Tap on the pad in the tempo that you want to get. Tap on the pad 4 times. Only the last two beats will be detected and set as your desired speed. 5. Select Drum Kits The unit comes with 25(NO.001-025) preset drum kits and 5 (NO.026-030) user kits. Press [KIT] button, the current kit number appears. EFFECT KIT PAD CLICK You can use the data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select the kits which you want. 13 Electronic Drum 6. Kit In this function, you can change pad voices. Adjust volume of every voices in the kit. Set pad sensitivity, threshold, velocity curve, etc. You also can set effect(Reverb and Chorus) , copy current kit to user kit and lock the pad sensitivity, threshold or velocity curve. In kit mode , press [ENTER] button, LED shows : ENTER You can use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select , . , 6.1 Set Pad In kit mode ,press [ENTER] buttons, LED shows : ENTER Then press [ENTER] again, to go into pad setting page. Use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select the pad you want to set. , , , , , , , , . You also can assign the pad by taping it hardly. 6.1.1 Hi-Hat Control The hi-hat tone changes smoothly from open to closed in response to press the pedal while hitting the hi-hat. There will be no sound produced if you completely press the pedal down softly and slowly. (Hi- Hat Control): Press [ENTER] button: ENTER Use data dial or [+] and [-] button to select 14 , . Electronic Drum 6.1.1.1 Select Voice (Instrument) Press [ENTER], use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select voice that you want. To confirm this selection, press [ENTER] again, and the content of LED-display will return to the mode. ENTER Voice kit (var 1-var 6) Voice number Reference: voice list In voice select mode, when you hit the pad the voice will change . Hit the pad until you reach the voice you desired. Press [START/STOP] button to listen to the current voice. 6.1.1.2 Hi-Hat Control Level (Level) Press [ENTER], use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to set level value. Range: 000-032.To confirm this selection, press [ENTER] again, and the content of LED-display will return to the mode. ENTER 6.1.2 Hi-Hat (Hi-Hat): Press [ENTER] button: ENTER 15 Electronic Drum Use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select , , . , , , 6.1.2.1 Open Hi-Hat (Open Hi-Hat) Press [ENTER] button, use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select open Hi-Hat . Range: 001-008.To confirm this selection, press [ENTER] again, and the content of LED-display will return to the mode. ENTER When playing a kick trigger the beater can bounce back and hit the head a second time immediately after the intended note with acoustic drums sometimes the beater stays against the head this causes a single hit to double trigger (two sounds instead of one). The sensitivity setting helps to prevent this. When we set the sensitivity to a low value, it will be difficult to play very quickly. 6.1.2.5 Pad Threshold (Threshold) : Press [ENTER] button, use data dial or [+] and [-] button to set threshold. Range: 000-050. To confirm this selection, press [ENTER] again, and the content of LED-display will return to the mode. ENTER This setting allows a trigger signal to be received only when the force struck on the pad is above a determined force level(velocity). This can be used to prevent a pad from sounding because of vibrations from other pads. When this value is too high, no sound is produced when the pad is struck lightly. 6.1.2.6 Pad Velocity Curve (Velocity Curve ) Press [ENTER] button, use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select 4 velocity curves(normal, easy, dynamic, fixed). To confirm this selection, press [ENTER] again, and the content of LED-display will return to the mode. Name Description Normal Is defined as a curve which will be mid-way between the other two. Is defined as a curve which makes it easier to play loudly. The curve generates higher velocities for the same force. Is defined as a curve which makes it easier to play quietly. The curve generates lower velocities for the same force. Means that regardless of how hard you play, the pad will transmit a velocity value of 100. Easy Dynamic Fixed 17 Electronic Drum 6.1.3 BD/Kick (Bass Drum) : Press [ENTER] button: ENTER Use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select , . , , , 6.1.3.1 Select Voice (Instrument) Press [ENTER], use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select voice that you want. In kit mode, Press [ENTER] button Use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select ENTER Press [ENTER] button, then use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select and . ENTER 6.2.1 Reverb (Reverb): Press [ENTER]: ENTER Use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select (Reverb Level) . (Reverb Type) and 6.2.1.1 Reverb Type (Reverb Type): Press [ENTER] button: ENTER Use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select reverb type. (Room1, Room2, Room3, Hall1, Hall2, Plate, Delay, PanDelay). Reference: "Content of LED-display" on Page 31. To confirm this selection, press [ENTER] again, and the content of LEDdisplay will return to the mode. To close the reverb effect, please select 20 and press [ENTER] to confirm. Electronic Drum 6.2.1.2 Reverb Level (Reverb Level): Press [ENTER] button: ENTER Use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select reverb level. Range: 000-127. To confirm this selection, press [ENTER] again, and the content of LEDdisplay will return to the mode. 6.2.2 Chorus (Chorus): Press [ENTER]: ENTER Use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select (Chorus Level) . (Chorus Type) and 6.2.2.1 Chorus Type (Chorus Type): Press [ENTER]: ENTER Use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select chorus type.(Chorus1, Chorus2, Chorus3, Chorus4, Feedback, Flanger, ShortDly, FBDelay). Range: 000-127. To confirm this selection, press [ENTER] again, and the content of LEDdisplay will return to the mode. 6.3 Copy Drum Kit In this function you can copy drum kit to user kits. In kit mode, use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select kit. Reference: 4 Select Drum Kits . Then Press [ENTER] button, use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select ENTER Press [ENTER], use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select user kits (NO.26-30) (copy- destination). Press [ENTER] to start the kit copy. 6.4 Trigger Follow Setting This function allows you to lock the current kit's sensitivity, threshold and velocity curve or not. In kit mode, use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select Press [ENTER] button, use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select or . 6.4.1 (Same) : To lock the current kit's sensitivity, threshold and velocity curve. Other kits will follow the current kit. Press [ENTER] button to confirm. 22 Electronic Drum 6.4.2 (Individual): In this mode, it cannot lock the current kit's sensitivity, threshold, and velocity settings. Other kits will not follow the current kit. ENTER Press [ENTER] button to confirm. 7. Effect In this function you can set reverb and chorus effect for drum kit. Press [EFFECT] button, use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select and . EFFECT KIT PAD CLICK Press [ENTER] to confirm, use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to set parameters. Reference: 6.2 Effect 8. Pad In this function, you can change pad voices. Adjust volume of every voices in the kit. Set pad sensitivity threshold velocity curve, etc. Press [PAD] button, use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select , , , , , , , , . EFFECT KIT PAD CLICK Press [ENTER] to confirm, use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to set parameters. Reference: 6.1 Set Pad 23 Electronic Drum 9. Click In CLICK mode, you can adjust the metronome level. Select time signatures and metronome sound. Press [CLICK] button to start metronome. To turn off the metronome, press the [CLICK] button again. Press [CLICK] button, use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select , , EFFECT KIT PAD CLICK 9.1 Click Level (Level) : Press [ENTER] button, use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to set level value. Range: 000-032. To confirm this selection, press [ENTER] again, and the content of LEDdisplay will return to the mode. ENTER 9.2 Time Signatures (Time Signatures) : Press [ENTER] button, use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select time signatures: 1/4 2/4 3/4 4/4 6/4 3/8 6/8 12/8. To confirm this selection, press [ENTER] again, and the content of LEDdisplay will return to the mode. ENTER 9.3 Click Sound (Click Sound) : Press [ENTER] button, use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select click sound:001-003. To confirm this selection, press [ENTER] again, and the content of LED-display will return to the mode. ENTER 24 Electronic Drum 9.4 Click Tempo To change the click tempo please see the dedails in Reference: 4 Tempo . Tempo section. 10. Song TD90 provides 50(001-050) preset songs, and 2(d-1,d-2) demos. 10.1 Select a Song Press [SONG] button: DRUM ON/OFF REC/ PLAY SONG START/ STOP Use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select song. In song select mode, press [ENTER] button to adjust the song volume, Use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to set it. Range: 000-032. 10.2 Start/Stop Playing the Song Press [START/STOP] button to start playing the song. Press [START/STOP] button again to stop playing. DRUM ON/OFF REC/ PLAY SONG START/ STOP 10.3 Change the Song s Tempo To change the song s tempo, please see the dedails in Reference: 4 Tempo . 25 Tempo section. Electronic Drum 11. Drum On/Off Press [DRUM ON/OFF] button, the main drum part of song will be muted. You can then play along with the song. DRUM ON/OFF REC/ PLAY SONG START/ STOP Press [DRUM ON/OFF] button again and the drum part will restore. 12. Start/Stop In SONG mode, press [START/STOP] to start or stop playing songs. DRUM ON/OFF REC/ PLAY SONG START/ STOP In [REC/PLAY] mode, press [START/STOP] to start or stop recording. DRUM ON/OFF REC/ PLAY SONG START/ STOP In voice select mode, the voice can be heard by pressing the [START/STOP] button. 26 Electronic Drum 13. Rec/Play TD90 allows you to record and playback your performance on the drum. The recording can contain 3 songs and only drum voices are allowed to record. Press [REC/PLAY] button enter record mode. DRUM ON/OFF REC/ PLAY SONG START/ STOP Use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select , , 13.1 Record (Record): Press [ENTER] Use data dial or [+] and [-] buttons to select song number: 001-003 ENTER Note: You have to select time signatures and tempo before recording. Reference: 9.2 Time Signatures and 4Tempo . 13.2 Start Recording Press [START/STOP] button to start recording. The first measure is prompt for recording tempo. DRUM ON/OFF REC/ PLAY SONG START/ STOP 27 . Electronic Drum 13.3 Stop Recording Press [START/STOP] button again to stop recording.
