1 Getting Started This Installation Guide describes how to install the DATOptic, Inc. eSATA_PCIe(2) host bus adapter, Serial SATA II devices and device drivers.

System Requirements Processor Type: - Intel Pentium, Celeron or Xeon system, (or equivalent AMD Opteron or Athlon system) for Windows OS. - G5 for Macintosh systems Operating System: - Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 or later - Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or later - Windows 2003 with Service Pack 1 or later - Mac OS 10.4.x or later One available PCI-Express compliant slots At least one available SATA device CD/DVD-ROM drive

Install the eSATA_PCIe(2) The eSATA_PCIe(2) Serial ATA II card will fit into any available PCI-Express slot in your workstation or server computer systems ( see figure 3) Figure 3

Turn off your system. Remove the cover of your system Remove the inside slot cover of an available PCI-Express on you system motherboard Install the eSATA_PCIe(2) host adapter into the open PCI-express slot, secure the host adapter by tighten the PCI bracket to system frame 5. Replace the cover of your system.
Install the SATA drives or SATA devices
The eSATA_PCIe(2) host adapter supports up to Two SATA devices or port multipliers. For optimal performance, install SATA drives of the same model and capacity, this allows the logical disk to function best as a single drive (RAID 0, RAID 1 or RAID 5 mode)
Install external devices on the eSATA_PCIe(2) 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
Attach one end of Serial ATA data cable to each Serial SATA device, example SATA HDD. Then attach the other end of the cables to the eSATA connectors on the eSATA_PCIe(2) Power on the external SATA device Boot up the system Depend with your OS; your external SATA may able to hot plug to your system.
Install the Driver The procedure in this section assume the Windows and MAC operating system has been installed on your computer Microsoft Windows 2003 Server and Windows XP After you install the eSATA_PCIe(2) and the external devices then power on your computer system, the Found New Hardware Wizard will open. 1. Insert the eSATA_PCIe(2) CD-ROM media 2. Select Install the software automatically (Recommenced) and click Next.
3. When installation is complete, click Finish.
To confirm the driver installation 1. Right click at My computer icon on your desktop and choose Manage from the pop-up menu, 2. Double –click Device Manager 3. Double – click SCSI and RAID controllers 4. Verify the Silicon Image Sil 3132 SATALink controller appears, as shown below.
Microsoft Windows 2000
After you install the eSATA_PCIe(2) and the external devices then power on your computer system, the Found New Hardware Wizard will open. 1. Insert the DATOptic SATA Drivers CD-ROM media into CD/DVD-ROM Drive, Click Next
2. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device (Recommended) and click Next.
3. Select CD-ROM, and click Next
4. Click Next once the driver is found. 5. If you get the Digital Signature Not Found message. Click YES to continue installation
6. When the installation is complete. Click Finish and reboot the system
To confirm the driver installation After reboot the computer system 1. Right click on My Computer icon on your desktop and choose Properties 2. Select Hardware then Device Manager 3. Double click SCSI and RAID controllers 4. Verify that the Silicon Image Sil3132 SATALink Controller appear, as shown below.
MAC OS X Installation
After you install the eSATA_PCIe(2). 1. Power on your computer. 2. Insert DATOptic SATA Drivers CD-ROM 3. Open the MAC Folder and click the Sil3132.pkg installer.
4. Click Continue
5. Review provided Readme. Click Continue
6. Review the License agreement. Click Continue.
7. Click Agree to accept the terms of the License agreement and proceed with the installation.
8. Select the system hard drive
9. Click Upgrade to install driver
10. Enter the user name and password for the root account. Click OK
11. Click Continue Installation to acknowledge the restart warning
12. Click Restart to reboot the computer and complete the installation
To confirm the driver installation
