VALUE RATING:
Usher D2 THD Horn Speakers are Usher's crowning achievement and offer the closest possible sound to a live performance - if you want to get as close to a Symphony Hall or packed out rock gig at home, these are the speakers for you. The D2's feature horn driven sections and dynamic drivers, allowing them to offer an incredibly neutral, well balanced sound with a frequency range that extends to crystal clear clarity at the top end and tuneful, powerful response at the bottom end.
We thought Usher had done their best with the Be20's, until we heard these. Put the D2 and Be20 side by side and the Be20s are put to shame. Even though the Be20 are still some of the best speakers we've ever heard at any price, the D2's simply offer more. More transparency, more depth, more realism and more enjoyment. Expect to immerse yourself in music for countless hours and enjoy a level of hi-fi performance once unimaginable - until now.

Review These speakers are a fantastic value for money. - Submitted by gherop an AudioPhile Bottom Line: I am listening to Usher D2 piano-black horn speakers (each 236 kg!) since Jan 2005 when they replaced ATC 150 Active Towers. In 2007 Usher sent me, free of charge, the new two box crossover for each speaker, with which the sound is much more accurate, especially in the mid-low and low region. Their sound is great, with full dynamics (each has two 15" woofers), huge soundstage, excellent depth, real presentation and very good tonality. In addition, human voices are reproduced very naturally and with the correct “size”. Listening to Nina Simone is an experience. Their horn is TAD 4001 and the woofers come from Usher. They can play due to their very high sensitivity (98 db), effortlessly with single-ended Triode amplifiers, even from 8 Watts per channel (Audion Golden Night, based on 300B) or 15 Watts (Geroukis, based on 211 VT-4C). Interesting is that they can play in the same excellent quality level, though in a different way, with solid state amplifiers like Plinius (2X250 Watts) or Muse 160 II (2X160 Watts). By auditioning different amplifiers one can find his personal taste in his own room. The built quality is amazing. These speakers are a fantastic value for money.
