First use of Nook Simple: Understanding your device: You must charge your Nook before using it for the first time. Plug your Nook into a USB port on your computer using the included USB cable. It takes approximately 3.5 hours to charge your Nook from your computer. An optional Power Adapter is available for charging from a wall outlet. Nook Simple Home Screen: Using your Nook Simple: 1. Read and Accept the Terms of Service Your Nook displays its Terms of Service. Read the terms and to accept them, tap “Accept.” 2. Select your Time Zone Tap on your time zone (i.e. Eastern Standard Time). Then tap “Next.” 3. Connect to a Wi-Fi Network To register your Nook and to purchase and download content, you need to be connected to a Wi-Fi Network. 4. Register your Nook You must register your Nook to your Barnes & Noble account. This gives you access to any books in your Nook Library and allows you to shop for new content or borrow content from Lee-Whedon. A. Tap either “Sign In” or “Create an Account”, if you don’t have an account. Borrow eBooks: 1. Download Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) onto your computer. 2. Authorize Adobe Digital Editions using the same email address as your Nook registration. 3. On your computer go to the OverDrive website www.nioga.lib.overdrive.com 4. Log into your account using your library card number. 5. Find your title and click “Add to Selections.” 6. Select “Proceed to Checkout.” 7. Select a lending period. 8. Click “Confirm Checkout.” 9. Click “Download.” 10. Your title will now open in ADE. 11. Plug your Nook into your computer. 12. Once ADE recognizes your Nook you can click and drag the title onto your Nook. Borrow eAudiobooks: 1. Download Overdrive Media Console onto your computer. 2. On your computer go to the OverDrive website www.nioga.lib.overdrive.com 3. Log into your account using your library card number. 4. Find your title and click “Add to Selections” 5. Select “Proceed to Checkout.” 6. Select a lending period. 7. Click “Confirm Checkout.” 8. Click “Download.” 9. Your title will now open in Overdrive Media Console. 10. Plug your Nook into your computer. 11. Once Overdrive Media Console recognizes your Nook you can click and drag the title of the eAudiobook onto your Nook.
