Maintenance Quick, sure vacuum can only be assured if there are no leaks; check fittings and connections occasionally for tightness. Periodically, the hole in the Metal Trap Cap (at the end of the Plastic Hose) should be cleaned. When disassembling Plastic Trap, make sure “O” Ring #2 is kept in place inside Metal Trap Cap. Replace gauze as it collects dirt and moisture. 5700 Tubing and Connections Vac-U-Mixer Use & Care Use of Lubriplate #5706 PLASTIC TUBING #5704 RETAINER SPRING 200 ML #6400 300 ML #4450 DRIVE NUT #6375 #5705 PLASTIC TRAP LUBRIPLATE (lubricating grease) has been applied to the shaft and “O” Rings of the #5701 VAC-U-MIXER before leaving our plant. This TRAP CAP should be sufficient for several weeks. There#4008 after, LUBRIPLATE should be applied lightly “O” RING #1 several times a year. This helps protect the nylon bearing in the Lid. For this purpose, unscrew Drive Nut (see below for thread direction) on top of Paddle Shaft, grasp Paddle and pull from Lid. Wipe off Shaft and pull a piece of cloth through bearing. Apply LUBRIPLATE to “O” Rings #1 on Shaft and top of bearing in Lid. After reassembling, wipe away excess grease. #5702 TRAP SEAL – “O” RING #2 Drive Nuts #6108 for Combination Unit #6375 #6865 #4109 #6393 Thread Direction Right Right Left Right Mixing Speed Low Low High Low Vac-U-Vestor X Power Mixer w/Vacuum #6375 #4109 12096_Vac-U-Mixer Manual_2015.indd 1 PLASTIC LID #6401 DRIVE NUT #6375 (FOR HANDY-HOLDER USE #6393) PLASTIC LID #6501 “O” RING #4 #4006 “O” RING #6 #6505 PLASTIC BOWL #4452 PLASTIC BOWL #6502 “O” RING #4 #4006 PLASTIC BOWL #4002 STAINLESS STEEL PADDLE #6406 STAINLESS STEEL PADDLE #4458 (ALGINATE) #4455 (GYPSUMS) 875 ML #6600 STAINLESS STEEL PADDLE #6506 (GYPSUMS) 1200 ML #7600 DRIVE NUT #6375 (FOR HANDY-HOLDER USE #6393) DRIVE NUT #6865 METAL LID #7601 PLASTIC LID #6501 PLASTIC BOWL #6602 “O” RING #8 #7605 STAINLESS STEEL BOWL #7602 #6393 X X X STAINLESS STEEL PADDLE #6606 “O” Rings provide the leak-proof vacuum needed. All are designed to produce dense, smooth, bubble-free mixes of plaster, stone, investment, alginate, etc., by mixing UNDER VACUUM. The VACUUM POWER MIXER PLUS or the COMBINATION UNIT will accept any of the five sizes. The 200 ml, 300 ml, or 500 ml sizes can be operated with the VAC-U-VESTOR and high-speed drive of the COMBINATION UNIT. Depending on the Whip Mix vacuum mixing equipment being used, the VAC-U-MIXER can be supplied with Drive Nuts to suit the individual’s need (see back page). AUTION: DO NOT INSERT ANY OBJECT OTHER THAN AN C ASSEMBLED MIXING BOWL INTO A DRIVE CHUCK AT ANY TIME. Mixing at High Speed with the COMBINATION UNIT Turn pump “ON” to establish vacuum. Insert the friction Drive Nut #4109 into the turning DriveChuck, the rubber “O” Ring on drive nut must be dry for best results. Mixing Times MATERIAL SUGGESTED MIXING TIMES (seconds) @ High Speed 1700 RPM @ Low Speed 425 RPM Plaster, Stone, Die Material 10-15 20-30 Gypsum Investment 20-30 40-50 Phosphate Investment 30-45 60-90 Not Suggested 12-15 Handy-Holder Alginate The 500 ml and 875 ml sizes are also available with a special lid and #6393 Drive Nut assembly for hands-free mixing. The HANDY-HOLDER system can be easily adapted to your existing Whip Mix mixing equipment. Ideal spatulation time can be determined by a few experimental test runs, as this depends on the material and the consistency of mix as used by the individual operator. Operation (Mixing) FOR ALGINATES, SKIP TO ITEM 9. The VAC-U-MIXER has been thoroughly tested and is ready for use upon unpacking. 5. With motor still running, disengage VAC-U-MIXER from Drive Chuck. Vibrate mix to bottom of Bowl and break vacuum by turning switch to “OFF” position once the gauge goes to zero, then disengage Vacuum Hose from Lid. Switch machine back to “ON” position to allow motor to run for approximately one minute to purge water vapor from pump and to re-oil. 1. Before using – rinse Bowl and Lid assembly. Shake off excess water. This is most important when water and material are measured. Proportion water and material into Bowl according to the manufacturer’s recommended water/ powder ratio. Incorporate the mix thoroughly with hand spatula so no dry powder or large lumps should remain. 6. Separate Paddle from mix by vibrating as Lid and Paddle Assembly are removed. 7. Pour mix as usual, taking care that no air bubbles are trapped when pouring. 2. Place Lid on Bowl and press gently together to help seat Bowl on “O” Ring (rubber gasket) in Lid. 8. Rinse VAC-U-MIXER parts thoroughly at once under running water. There is no need for drying before next use. 3. Connect vacuum by slipping metal nozzle at end of Vacuum Hose into opening on top of Lid. 9. For alginates, break vacuum immediately and use mix in conventional manner. It is still important to let vacuum pump run for approximately one minute to flush water vapor and re-oil. Allow excess material on Paddle and Bowl to set thoroughly before cleaning since the set alginate will peel away easily. 4. Mixing at Low Speed with the POWER MIXER or COMBINATION UNIT Holding Bowl and Lid together, insert the slotted Drive Nut into Drive Chuck for automatic start. After starting, move the Manual Switch to the “ON” position so the pump continues to run after the VAC-U-MIXER is disengaged. The paddle of the 300 ml size is Teflon coated to promote easy handling. NOTE: Phosphate investments and alginates can contaminate gypsum materials, seriously affecting their working properties. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that separate mixing bowls be used for each type of material and marked to avoid this possibility. 6/18/15 3:52 PM Introduction The five sizes of the VAC-U-MIXER are shown on the cover.
