Product Description vBroker 200 is VSS’s first fully modular, scalable family of products that bridge the gap between Gigabit and 10 G networks. Both the 1U standard edition and the 2U Expert edition models have eight built-in SFP+ ports. Each model also has four 4- port pluggable modules for up to an additional 16 ports. All twenty-four ports are activated by default. Any port can be designated as an input port or an output port**. The pluggable 4-port modules are available for either Inline or SPAN access. The SFP+ modules’ ports are fully I/O configurable, while the fiber TAP- only modules’ ports are inputs only and are completely passive. For the 2U model, 4-Port PowerSafe fiber chassis module is available. The product is available in two editions: Standard (vBroker 210) and Expert (vBroker 220). This device can be locally managed via a serial console and remotely managed via HTTP, HTTPS, SSH, Telnet, and SNMPv3. A filter option enables users to select, at the packet level, what traffic is forwarded to the designated monitor ports. Hardware-based, User-Independent Filtering allows traffic to be distinguished according to source and destination MAC/IP address as well as by specific protocols, such as HTTP, VoIP, and others. A custom filter offers more granular specification of a filter, specifically within the payload of a packet. Filters can be ingress, egress, and overlapping.
Microburst measurement for capacity planning (vCapacity™)*
Session-based, Flow-aware Load Balancing increases user control of traffic distribution to monitoring tools, increasing output capacity while maintaining session integrity. For example, a 10G network can be captured and automatically balanced across multiple Gigabit monitoring tools based on user-defined session criteria. Session-based, Flow-aware Load Balancing can operate in tandem with Hardware-Based Filtering or independently.

Product Brief: vBroker 210 / 220 The vProtector mode, available as an add-on software license option, enables the unique active inline capabilities of the VSS Protector Series on the vBroker 200. The vProtector solution on the vBroker 200 comprises vProtector mode option and PowerSafe chassis module(s). The vProtector mode enables vProtector functionality system wide, while the PowerSafe chassis module provides fail-safe capability to ensure no interruption to the inline traffic availability. Able to forward traffic from many network links to one or many active tools, and provide service/tool chaining.

The vBroker 220 has additional hardware resources available to be built into each pluggable 4-port Expert edition chassis module for features including time & port stamping, protocol stripping, vSlice, vCapacity, and WAN system building (vMesh over IP). Options also extend Load Balancing to inner layer 3 and 4 packets headers, in MPLS or GTP encapsulation, vIndex, and vSpool.
Redundant power supplies allow seamless transitions between power systems and ensure uptime. NEBS compliant vBroker 200 Standard and Expert models are available with hot-swappable power supplies, fans, and air filters.
VSS’ vBroker Series of products also provide automated event driven monitor output traffic direction and responses (Syslog messages, SNMP traps, light front LED, deactivate ports) with five user-definable trigger event types.
All VSS managed devices support field software updates for additional features and performance enhancements. The vBroker 200 family also supports updating of the FPGA firmware in the field.
All vBroker Series products support VSS’ proprietary intelligent stacking technology, vStack+, which enables traffic capture devices to be deployed
