Protect your vehicle and belongings!! Here are some helpful tips to keep your valuables safe:
LOCK UP
An unlocked car is an open invitation to a car thief. Lock up when you leave your car and take your keys with you.
Lock the trunk or tailgate.
Close all your windows — professional thieves have tools to unlock cars through the smallest openings.
When you park your vehicle, remove cell phones, stereos, and other valuable possessions. Do not leave gift-wrapped packages or cameras lying on the seat. Lock all valuables in your trunk or take them with you.
Lock your car even if you are making a quick stop at the gas station, convenience store, or mini mall.
PARK CAREFULLY
USE ANTI THEFT DEVICES
Do not leave your car in unattended public parking lots for an extended period of time.
If possible, park your car in a lot where you do not have to leave your keys. If parking with an attendant, leave only the ignition key.
1. Locking gas cap
Never attach a tag with your name and address on your key ring. If the keys are lost or stolen, the tag will lead the thieves directly to your home. Turn your wheels sharply toward the curb. This will make it extra difficult for thieves to tow your car.
KEEP THE VEHICLE REGISTRATION AND INSURANCE IN YOUR WALLET OR PURSE, NOT YOUR CAR.
Consider the purchase and installation of security devices, such as:
2. Locking devices for batteries, wheels, decks, etc.
3. Alarm devices to activate a siren, horn, or lights to frighten the thief away.
4. Devices that attaches to the steering wheel or brake pedal
5. GPS tracking devices CARJACKING This is a violent, random typically form of auto theft. Protect yourself by remaining aware of your surroundings and always:
Keep your doors locked
Park in well lit, busy areas.
Keep car and house keys on separate chains.
Keep the garage door opener in your purse or briefcase.
When stopped in traffic, always leave enough room to make an emergency getaway.
If someone if threatening to take your vehicle, give up the vehicle. It’s not worth your life.
