VICERACK Installation Field Guide Rev. 10Feb2015 Layout BEFORE YOU BEGIN MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE CURRENT MODULE PLAN • Find your starting point on the Module Plan using the given dimensions Layout & S-5! CLAMPS (13N·m, 10ft·lb) • • • Use a String Line to mark the location points for the S-5! seam clamps. Use a 5mm allen bit to secure the S-5! Crimp seams if necessary to get the S-5! clamps to fit over the seam and sit flat. S-5! clamps will work with VICERACK in the vertical or horizontal position Layout & S-5! CLAMPS – East/West (13N·m, 10ft·lb) Square Square Layout – when racking units are installed square with the roof (ie. Rails running perpendicular to the seams) the S-5! Clamps are installed on every 2nd seam. At the end however, the S-5! Clamp must be installed on the last seam (both ends of the racking unit). In some cases this may require clamps to be ‘doubled up’ (ie. Clamps installed on two consecutive seams). S-5!’s ‘doubled up’ Skewed Skewed Layout – the S-5!’s need to be clamped on to every seam. Your S-5! Spacing guide – North/South This chart contains common Module widths. Use the measurement that is within 5mm of your Module size. If this is not the case contact your Field Service Specialist for an exact measurement. • Keeping the correct spacing is vital. Check your measurements often to ensure your spacing remains the same. • Once you identify the distance between your Back Panel S-5! And your next Front Foot, you can use this distance for easy measuring. Front Feet (17-23N·m, 13-17ft·lb) • • Install T-bolts into the Front Foot. Lay the flat plate over the Tbolt and attach the bolt that comes with the S5! Clamp. • Install T-bolts in the Front Foot rail and place the Front Plate. Make sure that the Front Foot is installed with the channel facing south. • • It is vitally important to keep your overhang distances the same, front and back. Otherwise PV Modules will not line up with the Module Clamps. Completed it should look like the picture to the left. Back Panel Assembly (17-23N·m, 13-17ft·lb) • • Adjust the bracket to align with the S5! clamp and hand tighten. • Back Panel assemblies are attached to the S5! Clamps using the same flat plate and hardware as the Front Foot. • • Leave a 20mm Gap between Racking Units. Both Front Foot and Back Panel. Make sure the overhang on the Back Panel is the same as on the Front Foot. Once the Back Panel has been tightened it will stand by itself, ready for PV Modules. Front Foot Saddle Clamps (17-23N·m, 13-17ft·lb) End Saddle Clip 92301 Saddle Support Clip Mid Saddle Clip 92309 92304 Saddle Support Clip 92309 End Saddle Clip 92302 The above photo shows the Clips for a two PV Module row with their part numbers. For longer rows you will need to add 92304 and 92309 for each additional Module. These are supplied in white buckets with a part number tag. East and West sides have distinct offsets and are not interchangeable. The 92309 Module Support Clip is to provide support for the PV Module to prevent it from warping under its own weight (It does not clamp to the PV Module, must be secured under the centre of each Module, and use 2 under 72 cell modules). 92304 supports between two PV Modules - do not tighten until the second PV Module is in place. NOTE: All the clamps use torx 40 bit The clamp will snap on to the bead on the Front Foot. This connection will clamp on to the Front Foot when the Module is attached and tightened. Clic Loc Clamps (8-10N·m, 6-8ft·lb) NOTE: All the clamps use torx 40 bit Clic Loc Clamps are supplied in black buckets The above drawing shows the Middle Clic Loc Clamp and outlines the integrated grounding nodes. These nodes ground the Modules to the top rail upon installation. • • • • Snap the End Clic Loc Clamp into the rail by pushing downwards. Tighten once the Clamp is flush with the Module. Once the End Clic Loc Clamp is secure and the Module is in place, snap the Mid Clic Loc Clamp into the rail flush against the Module. Make sure that Modules are flush with the Clamps. If you take the time to get the first PV Module square, all the following PV Modules will line up easily. Always leave about a 15mm gap from the end of the Clamp to the end of the rail. This will ensure you don’t run out of room on the opposite end of the Top Rail. Installing and Squaring PV Modules - - When installing PV Modules you should always align the junction boxes in the same direction, with the box to the side that the next PV Module will be installed. Pull the wires through the gap in the Back Panel assembly. PV Module strings can be connected later and the wiring can be tucked back in the gap. There is a pre-drilled hole on the Top Rail for cable ties. SGB4 LUGS Ilsoco SGB-4 grounding lugs are provided with Vicerack. Lugs are fastened to the lip of the Top Rail. Use Ground Wire to jump between Back Panels. Remember to leave a 20mm Gap between each Racking Unit.
