Victoria Theatre Devonport Stage Lighting Facilities Stage 1 Lighting Installation FOH Lighting: Rigging: There is a circular bar installed behind the timber screen at the circle level in the FOH position, in two halves. This bar is 48.5mm OD to accept standard theatrical hook and barrel clamps, along with standard scaffolding clamps. The bar is positioned so that the nose of a standard 600 to 1kW profile spot will reach to the slots in the timber screen. CARE MUST BE TAKEN TO ENSURE ALL FIXTURES ARE FOCUSED THROUGH THE APERTURE, THERE IS A FIRE RISK IF THE LIGHT BEAM IS FOCUSED ON THE TIMBER SCREEN. PC and Fresnel fixtures may not work from this mounting position. The total loading of this bar is 250kg on each side(half) with a loading of no more than 100kg between any two uprights or supports. Luminares: There are 12 Altman Shakespeare 20 degree profile spots rigged on the FOH bar in a uniform spread across both sides. This is intended to provide cover of four areas from each side, and four specials. There are extension cables sufficient to run from each fixture back to the dimmer pack. The Shakespeare takes a B size gobo. The lens tube of the Shakespeare is interchangable to achieve a range of beam angles. Kenderdine Electrical Ltd can supply on hire a range of different beam angle lens tubes from 5 degree to 50 degree. Light output is equivalent to the output of current 1kW theatrical profile fixtures. Dimmer Control: There is one Strand 1210 Wallrack fixed to the OP side wall adjacent to the access ladder. This is powered off the adjacent 32A 3 phase outlet. The rack has 12 x 10Amp dimmers which are DMX controlled from the lighting data system. There are 12 socket outlets fitted, one per channel. Each channel is protected by an individual MCB. The rack has an overall 3 phase RCD which will trip and shut off power if an earth fault is detected in any load plugged into the rack. The rack has 3 red LEDs, which show the presence of the three phase supplies from the mains supply. It also has a green LED which shows the presence of DMX signal into the rack. The rack is dialled to DMX 1, so will represent channels 1-12 on the lighting control. IF THIS DIAL UP IS CHANGED FOR ANY REASON, PLEASE RETURN IT TO #1 WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED. If DMX is required in the FOH position there is a DMX outlet in the base of the wallrack which is fed off the DMX system. The wallrack is on it own DMX feed, so this outlet can be used to feed an additional 31 DMX devices. A manual is available from the theatre management for any further information on this unit.
Onstage Lighting Rigging: There is a 48.5mm OD bar fixed on the brick wall across the back of the stage. The weight loading capacity of this bar is unknown, the user must establish that it is capable of supporting the load being hung on it. Luminares: There are 4 of 1kW Par 64 medium beam fixtures supplied and hung on the onstage bar. These are cabled by individual extension leads back to the onstage dimmer rack. Dimmer Control: There is one Strand 1210 Wallrack fixed to the OP side wall adjacent to the access door. The rack is dialled to DMX 13, so will represent channels 13-24 on the lighting control. IF THIS DIAL UP IS CHANGED FOR ANY REASON, PLEASE RETURN IT TO #13 WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED. If DMX is required on the stage, there is a DMX outlet in the base of the wallrack which is fed off the DMX system. The wallrack is on it own DMX feed, so this outlet can be used to feed an additional 31 DMX devices. A manual is available from the theatre management for any further information on this unit.
Lighting Control The theatre has a Strand 200 Series 24/48 channel lighting desk available to control the stage lighting installation. This desk can be run as a 24 channel or 48 channel output desk with simple cue saving and manual control abilities. The management has a copy of the manual available to users, or a copy can be downloaded from Strand Lighting at: www.strandlighting.com/index.php?xsearch[0]=Controls&xsearch[1]=200+Series+Console &xsearch[2]=Manual&submit=Search&xsearch_id=Downloads_Search&src=directory&srct ype=lister&view=downloads&submenu=PSupport The desk outputs DMX512A to the DMX network installed in the theatre. There are two possible control positions in the theatre, one in the projection booth, and one outside the booth adjacent to the wheelchair position in thre body of the theatre. The DMX waylines can be patched to either position. The DMX is then fed into a 4 way DMX splitter in the projection booth, which has two hardwired feeds to the two dimmer racks in the theatre. There are two additional full DMX feeds available from this splitter for additional DMX devices as required. Please consult the theatre DMX schematic for any further information on the DMX data system. This lighting system was supplied and installed by Kenderdine Electrical Ltd.
