UTP (unshielded twisted pair) Passive Video Transceiver
Installation Instructions
General This manual is a guide to the installation and operation of the VID-03P model VIDIPAC UTP. Please read the entire manual before installing.
Brief description VID-03P model is a single channel passive transceiver with screw-less Terminal block and built-in transient protection. VID-03P Passive Balun allows a single CCTV video signal to be transmitted via cost-effective Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) cable. Used in pair, the UTP CCTV passive balun can connect the CCTV security and surveillance equipments using standard structured cabling techniques for neater and more streamlined cabling instead of costly and bulky coaxial cable. VID-03P is small in size and can be fixed with outer housing of a camera. It also works in conjunction with other VIDIPAC passive transceivers and passive hubs.
Features of VID-03P • PAL, NTSC, SECOM video compatible • Passive device, no power required • Transmission range: Colour signal up to 225m* working with passive transceivers • Screw-less Terminal block reduces wiring time • High crosstalk and noise immunity • Compact size and BNC-male with 13cm coaxial cable pigtail • One year warranty

Installation Caution • Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) wires must be used. Note: Shielded twisted pair wires cause impedance mismatch • Make sure there are no untwisted wires as it may result in distorted image and interference. • Each video signal must use the same twisted pair. • Make sure there are no extra branch (or star connection) of twisted pair as it results in ghost image. Always connect the transceivers with point-to-point Unshielded Twisted Pair wires. • Coaxial cable length between the video equipment and the passive UTP transceiver balun must not exceed 1.8m. Transceiver installation • Connect the VID-03P passive transceivers as close as possible through the coaxial cable to the video equipments (Camera, monitors, VCRs, DVRs, etc.) • VID-03P passive transceivers have ‘+’ and ‘-’ terminals. • Use a pair of Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) wires to connect the transceivers Connection Diagram • Make sure the ‘+’ of one transceiver is connected to the ‘+’ of another transceiver and vice versa for the ‘-’ terminal.
