STEP 6: TURN ON THE VCR The first time you connect your VCR and turn it on, a menu screen appears. This is the beginning of the QuickSet Guide which helps you to set up specific features of the VCR. If you choose not to use this Guide, you can set up each feature individually. Go to the next step to understand change items in the menu how to move through and system. The first time you turn on your VCR, the first screen of the Guide appears. The Auto Clock feature advantageous is because it updates the time for you automatically. The second way is entering the time and date manually into the menu system. Selecting AUTO The CHANNEL up and down buttons access those channels active in your VCR channel list. CLOCK SET FEATURE The Auto Clock feature is set to ON at the factory. This section contains several other options available for searching a tape. FORWARD AND REVERSE SEARCH You can search a tape during playback. Sound is turned off during picture search. Search works well for tapes recorded at either the SP or SLPspeed, 1. PressFORWARDtosearchforwardorREVERSEtosear chin reverse. 2. PressFORWARDorREVERSEa gain or press PLA Y to return to normal playback. SLOW MOTION You can view a tape during play or play-pause using slow motion. Slow motion works well for tapes recorded at the SP or SLPspeed. 1. During playback, press PAUSE and then FOR WARD or REVERSEto begin slow-motion playback, 2. Press FOR WARD to incr ease or REVERSEto decr ease the speed of the search. 3. Use TRACKING up or down to remove any streaks from the picture. 4. Press PLAY to return to normal playback. COUNTER The time counter shows the actual time it takes to record a program or play back a segment of a recorded beginning 0:30:00 tape. It helps locate the or end of programs you taped. JACKS AND CABLES RF Jacks and Coaxial Cables (F-type) The RFjacks provide good picture and mono sound quality, and must be used if audio/video connections are not available for your TV. 9 RFJack These jacks are required for antenna or cable-TV connections. The RFjacks on the VCR are labeled ANT. IN and RF OUT. The coaxial cable supplied with your VCR is used to connect the VCR's RF OUT jack and your TV's antenna Audio/Video input. Jacks and Cables (RCA-type) The AUDIO/VIDEO jacks provide very good picture quality and stereo sound, and can be used if your TV has audio/video input jacks.
