he people, “Born of the Water,” long ago, have created their own water-based paradise – in a more modern sense – which continues to replenish their community in bountiful ways. Treasure Island Resort & Casino, located on the banks of the Mississippi River, is owned and operated by the Prairie Island Indian Community of Minnesota, whose tribal name, “Mdewakanton” means “Born of the Water.” A Video King customer since 2013, the multimillion dollar resort has expanded to include everything from a casino, with highly acclaimed restaurants and entertainment, 3,000-seat event A lucky Bingo winner! center, hotel, water park, golf course, RV park, 100-passenger cruise liner, marina, full-serviced spa, bowling and arcade, since its Bingo beginnings. But it goes beyond their borders. Since 1994, Treasure Island Resort & Casino and the Prairie Island Indian Community together have contributed more than $17.5 million to thousands of nonprofit and civic organizations throughout the region. They also have partnerships with the following professional sports teams: Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Wild, Minnesota Timberwolves, Minnesota Lynx, St. Paul Saints. Prairie Island Indian Community aligns with these sports teams because of the joint history of supporting youth activities, fitness and leadership development, they said. or many facilities, the one big hole in the gaming options they offer their players has been the availability of a true Class II Video Poker game. By this I mean a Class II Video Poker game that has the look, pay table and play action of a Class III, Las Vegas Video Poker game. There have been many attempts at creating a Non-Class III Video Poker game, but they have fallen short in their ability to attract Video Poker players, primarily because of their play action and decision-making deficiencies. Meaning, players cannot change Gary Loebig their Video Poker cards to get a better hand away throw to inability – as evidenced by the players’ a winning hand. Case in point, Washington State. The compacted games the tribes play there include a version of a Video Poker game. It has the look and pay table of a Video Poker game – but not the play action or decision-making of a Las Vegas Video Poker game. You see, the Washington system is based on the concept of a lottery scratch ticket game, where all wins and prizes are predetermined. In the Washington Video Poker game, a sixth card is dealt, a Wild Card called a Genie Card, in addition to the
normal, five-card hand. This card is used by the game to automatically correct player mistakes. Take for example a player, who has a winning hand in a “Jacks Or Better” game, say a pair of Queens that would pay 2 credits, along with a single King and an 8 A Win-Win! and a 9. If the player attempts to better his hand and the associated prizes, but makes a mistake and discards one of the Queens, this results in the player throwing away a winning hand.
At that point the game would automatically reveal a Wild Card, the Genie Card, which in this case will be a King,
which results in a DIFFERENT winning hand (two Kings) that restores the SAME “Jacks Or Better” prize amount, the 2 credits that the player would have won before he threw away the original winning hand (the two Queens) that he was dealt. In essence, the player cannot lose the original winning prize amount nor can he/she better his/her hand, nor better the prizes he/she could have won, by changing playing cards. True Video Poker players see this and understand that this is not the Las Vegas-style Video Poker game that they want to play, and refuse to play this game. This is just one example of an attempt to create a Las Vegas-style Video Poker game that is not a Class III game.

The first, a Bull’s Eye pattern, simply a circle, corralling ’round the free space. The second, a cover-all, where every card square is covered. A Few Rules To Remember ... ■ Keep your push-out cards intact. If a number is called, simply fold it back. ■ Cards will be void if any of the called numbers are torn. ■ Participants must be 21 to play. or many of us old timers in the Bingo biz we know that today’s business has changed from years past. With changing times we need to change the way we think and cultivate new customers. That is why we are introducing a new column to the award-winning newsletter VKN (Video King Network) “Think Outside The Box.” We hope you, our valued readers, will participate in future columns by submitting ideas on ways that have allowed you to grow your business beyond the traditional methods. We will share those ideas and concepts that support our products and visions. In this newsletter we are going Atom Action Blower to highlight a largely untapped segment of our industry. SENIOR CENTERS! Did you know there are more than 11,000 senior centers in the United States?
Statistics show that the average demographic of a senior center visitor aligns with the exact, same demographic of a Bingo player. How many senior centers do you have in your market? How many are active customers, who are buying from you on a regular basis, or have done so in the past six months? If you can’t think of any, you need to tap into that market segment. Video King has many products that are ideal for Peggy Hansen these types of venues. Have you ever considered how perfect an Atom Action™ Blower and FlashPoint™ system would suit the needs of this market? The Atom Action is a small, portable Bingo blower that adds a fun flair to any recreational Bingo game. It provides an incredible amount of “ball action” and “visibility” during game play. The Atom Action can easily be moved in and out of activity areas with very little effort or space needed for storage. The FlashPoint is a perfect counterpart to the Atom Action Blower. FlashPoint can be procured in a software-only option or a complete system.

f you’ve been to Vegas, you’ve heard the call of “Match Play” on the slots. Or, if you’ve had the chance to visit one of the many halls in Florida running Video King’s 24-number QuickShot games, you may have gotten to enjoy spending some of the House’s money ... Wouldn’t it be great if these popular player incentives were available at your Bingo hall? John Mowat Video King is always looking for ways to improve player experience, while saving the operator time and effort, and we’re excited to finally bring Match Play & Free Play to the world of Bingo.

To get started, all you need is credit-based gaming on our Bingo tablets (like the new CHAMP-e) and the newest version of the rock-solid OMNI Hall Management system (which also happens to be fully compliant with the incoming NIGC 2018 MICS.)
For players, it’s almost too good to be true – but it is! The House decides when and how much to offer – like a straight 1-for-1 match, or special incentives to boost sales, such as “Buy 5 PowerPick-Em’s To Earn $5 Free Play.” The extra credits just “show up” in the player’s account! For operators, the problem has always been – how do you offer such an eye-popping incentive to the player, while ensuring the House’s money actually gets wagered prior to cash out? In OMNI, the operator simply sets a rule like, “for every $10 of credits bought, give the player an extra $10 Free Play, which must be wagered before it can be cashed out.” The OMNI POS takes care of the rest: The player spends $10 cash, but the system puts $20 credits in their account – and at cash-out time, the system ensures that the bonus

unwanted smoke, offensive odors and airborne contaminants. Proven highly effective, the system addresses all four sources of indoor air pollution: particles, aerosols, gases and odors. And, it doesn’t just collect the pollutants into a filter, but actuallly reduces viruses, bacteria and other organic compounds by destroying them, according to the manufacturer. As you well know, customer happiness is key to, well, that sweet smell of success – to say nothing of your own health. In fact, the biggest complaint among casino customers is cigarette smoke that seems to linger everywhere. And, figures state, two-thirds of the adult population don’t even smoke. But that’s something forward-thinking homeowners and employers have already banked on. Placed in thousands of casinos, hotels, public places, businesses and homes around the world, these compact units offer a welcomed green or eco-friendly alternative to improving the quality of indoor air. How does it work? Each Catalytic PUREAIR purifier will cover 325 to 500 feet, depending upon occupancy and activity in the area. And, by using renewable, photo catalytic oxidation technology
Either a professional soccer player or a stand-up comedian like John Leguizamo or anyone from “Saturday Night Live.” ■ Has Your Concept of Bingo Changed: Yes, once I saw how Cosmic Bingos have helped bring in the younger crowd, and now I’ll see them on weekdays as well as on the weekends. ■ Favorite Electronic Game: PokerNanza!! Ed Dwornicki (a regional sales manager) showed me how it is played on the CHAMP-e, and it has definitely gotten my attention. I can’t wait to see it in more halls that I visit. ■ What’s Your Vision Of The Future: Like with flying cars and hover boards? Ha ha. My personal future has me in Chandler living in a house with the family and continuing to provide my services to Video King and the halls they serve so well. ■ Interests/Hidden Talents: I like listening to Joe Rogan on Podcast. I’m into weight training, video games and singing songs with my kids in the mornings. I sing all the time, like whatever is stuck in my head for the day. Too bad for people around me, I’m not that good at it. ■ Why Rogan: I would first warn he is a dirty comedian, but once you get around that, his view on the topics he talks about widens my view on things I wouldn’t have thought about before. My favorite thing to hear on his podcast is when he is talking to other comedians and goes on about the first time being on stage or them starting out in comedy. He has had doctors, comedians, rock stars and everything in between. Very interesting stuff. ■ What People Don’t Know About You? I do an amazing impression of a velociraptor. It embarrasses my wife to no end. Also, I have writer’s block in my right elbow. Really slows down my typing. ■ Favorite Get-Away: My favorite get away is going to Buttercup Sand Dunes in California. I’ve grown up riding ATVs since I was 3, and my 3 year old just joined us on the quads this Christmas. She took to it like a champion.
Ideal for commercial and residential usage, the Catalytic PUREAIR offers an eco-friendly solution to safely and effectively improve the air quality of any sized venue. ■ Favorite Drink: Xyience Melon Mayhem energy drink. I like it because it wakes me up, and I have no crash at all. It also gets me through long nights at the halls. I mostly drink water, though. ■ Favorite TV Show(s): “Supernatural.” The storylines are interesting. I like the characters, corny lines and how the main characters deal with mythical creatures. Things constantly change so you can’t miss an episode, or you will be lost. “Walking Dead.” It’s a great show. Just seeing how things unfold in a zombie apocalypse. “How I Met Your Mother.” Can’t ask for a better group of characters. All of them have their moments of hilarity and crazy situations.
■ Favorite Food: Sonoran-style Mexican food, Sushi and Italian pastas are an even tie for me. I can’t pick just one. I’ve grown up with a more Sonoran-style as opposed to Tex Mex. Not that I don’t enjoy that as well, but I love that flavor that just brings me back to great times with my family. ■ Favorite Movie: “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.” It has a video game aspect that I like. ■ Most Daring Think You’ve Ever Done: A 180 in a sand buggy my grandfather made. I was in high school, and I have a witness. Ha ha. My dad just heard this story a couple years ago. I couldn’t tell him too soon, you know? ■ Best Invention Ever: Cell phones. From phone numbers, games, apps, e-mails to social media. It’s all done through cell phones now. Crazy how smart phones integrated into our lives the way they did. ■ What Would You Invent If You Had The Resources: Solar-powered cars that only need 5 minutes of sunlight to run for the next 24 hours. It would come standard with a UV hand-held light that plugs into the cigarette lighter so, in case you live in a less-than-shiny city, you can at least get around. ■ If You Weren’t In This Field: I would be a manager at Starbucks or Jamba Juice. Minimizing Hardware Failures Safe Shut-Down Procedures
I
Steve Dorsey • Tech Tips
t is very important that we put in every effort to protect against failing hardware. There is no single solution to protect from hardware failure, but here are a few tips to help minimize these failures.
1. Safe Shutdown Procedures
■ Powering down correctly protects the file system and results in faster Steve Dorsey boot times. Whenever you need to power down a computer, including the Powerserver, points of sale or desk PC, it is important that you do so properly. This is normally done by performing a Shut Down System Procedure. Alternatively, if you are not planning on shutting down the entire system, you can power down an individual machine through the Windows Start Menu. ■ If your hall experiences a power outage, there is a possibility that some of the computers in your hall will remain on. This is because they are receiving back-up power from an Uninterrupted Power Supply or UPS. When a UPS starts supplying back-up power, there will typically be an audible alarm. These devices are in place to prevent damage from a sudden power failure, but they rely on a battery and will fail when the battery is exhausted. It is important that you properly shut down all of the equipment if the power does not return immediately. ■ With or without a UPS, there can be times when your area is experiencing conditions that may make operating undesirable. This doesn’t mean that you have to stop Bingo because of wind, rain or snow. However, if the power to your hall becomes unpredictable, it may not be safe to continue. If you find yourself in this situation, it would be best to contact the Help Desk to find out how to proceed.
2. Install A UPS
■ As mentioned earlier, Uninterrupted Power Supplies can supply emergency power in a power outage.

You might find that, without a UPS, losing power for just a few seconds, will be enough to cause a considerable delay. If you think that this has happened at your hall, it may be beneficial to look at your options. Video King recommends using at least a 750 VA UPS for the Server and another 750 VA UPS if you plan on installing one on the desk. ■ If you have a UPS, periodically check the status lights to make sure that the battery doesn’t need replacing. ■ Remember that you should never plug a printer into a UPS. Printers draw a large amount of power from your UPS, which can overload it, and cause the computer to shut down unexpectedly.
3. Cleanliness
■ It is important that computers and electronics are kept clean for efficient operation. One way to make sure of this is to keep the surfaces around the equipment clean. Most electronics tend to attract dust, and if you keep the area around them clean, this will help to cut down on this. ■ Bingo consoles have a filter installed on the blower chamber. This filter should be replaced every three months. A dirty filter can cause poor ball performance and can potentially cause damage to the blower motor.
4. Maintenance
■ When you replace the blower motor filter, take time to oil the blower motor and check the static spring to ensure it is intact. ■ For the most part, with the exception of regular cleaning, the rest our equipment is practically maintenance free.
5. Be Prepared
■ There is nothing more aggravating, than finding out a piece of equipment has failed. If you have a computer that has crashed, the Help Desk may ask if you have a Recovery Disk and/or your version specific e-BOS Installation CDs. These disks need to be stored in a safe place. If you cannot locate these, please contact the Help Desk to request a copy. ■ Keeping spare equipment on hand is part of being prepared. Consider each piece of equipment, and whether it is essential to your Bingo session. If it is, consider keeping a spare. ■ For technical assistance, call our 24/7 Help Desk at (888) 246-4609 or e-mail us at

fore I started with the Bingo world. ■ How Do You Unwind: Pokémon hunting with my kids. They love walking around parks or driving through the city looking for them. ■ Life Motto: I’m a lucky man. ■ If You Could Go Back In Time: I would love to live in Hawaii in the ’50s and ’60s. Greg Noll rode what many at the time believed to be the largest wave ever surfed in December of 1969. After that wave, and the ensuing wipeout during the course of that spectacular ride down the face of a massive, dark wall of water. To watch that, would be epic!! ■ What Super Power Would You Like To Possess? Teleportation. ■ What’s On Your Bucket List? 1. Jumping out of an airplane. 2. Surfing in Hawaii or Disney World. 3. Watch Joe Rogan, Bill Burr, Joey Diaz, Henry Rollins and Bill Envall live. 4. Speaking fluently in Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. ■ Why Those Languages: I never took the time to learn Spanish, and it always bugs me because of my name people assume I speak it. I can understand where the conversion is going, but can never answer questions back in Spanish, and I would love to learn and teach my kids so they don’t have that gap in speaking with people as they grow older. I chose Portuguese because I would love to visit Brazil one day and be able to check out Carnival, or go to a Mr. Olympia Bodybuilding competition and talk with some of the athletes in their native language. My wife is part Italian and has family in Italy right now, so we are learning more and more to one day visit. ■ If You Could Change One Thing About Your Life? We would already have a home that is paid off. ■ What Are You Most Proud Of: My little family. ■ Happiest Day Of Your Life: Dec. 23, 2016. We were out riding at the Sand Dunes. It was the first time I had everyone in my family on a quad. Just driving around with my wife and kids each on a quad. Greatest moment! My parents, uncle, cousin and grandfather were there to cheer them on and help me capture the moment. Everyone had a blast, and going more is all I hear about now, which has been a dream of mine for the past six years.

“He really knows the Bingo industry,” said Stuart, who has known Sherwood in various capacities, as both friend and fellow worker, for more than 30 years. “He has a strong track record, has great relationships within the gaming industry, and really knows linked technology,” he said. Mutually beneficial, Stuart calls the move a win-win for our company, as well as our customers, as each team member shares their expertise. “Phil will serve as a complement to Video King’s dynamic sales team, who have already broken ground, implementing our Bingo equipment and electronic gaming systems in tribal, charitable, commercial and military markets across the globe, since the company’s inception back in 2005,” he said. Rusty Morin, Video King’s CFO, heartily agreed. “Phil has been in the gaming business, Bingo and slots combined, for more than 30 years, and in the Class II slot business nearly half that. He has developed many relationships in the industry, and has all the right business knowledge and attributes to be the right guy to help Video King launch a brand-new product line,” he said, in addition to our existing staff. Among Sherwood’s first projects will be the roll out of PokerNanza® Bingo, Video King’s latest patented game. Featuring multiple jackpots, PokerNanza combines the excitement of big Bingo prizes, along with the skill of Poker play. Here is where Sherwood will step in and take the lead. “My goal is to make Video King a major player in the Class II market,” he said. “I believe that there is a market for a Class II Poker product, and PokerNanza fills that need. Along with the product, having a portable device makes this product line unique,” he added. Welcomed by the entire Video King staff, Sherwood – as one can see – is no stranger to the

The FlashPoint Bingo Display
Video King has a simple solution for smaller-scale venues, the Flashpoint Bingo Display. Combining gaming ingenuity with our computer know-how, Video King has developed software, which can display a 75-number Bingo board onto a touch-screen PC. The computer also has a HDMI and VGA output, which means the same Bingo board image can be displayed onto one or more large-screen TVs. And, it makes no difference whether you use Bingo cards, a roll cage or random number generator to “call” the balls. For added pizzazz, an animated Bingo graphic can be activated, for a programmable number of seconds, by pressing the “Bingo Button” once Bingo is called.

■ How did you hear about Video King: We actually learned about Vide King through our paper and dauber distributor. We then took the time to do some research to see what was offered and how this product was better and how it would fit into our program at Treasure Island. ■ How would you rate Video King’s products and service: We have been very happy with the products offered and the customer service that Video King provides. When you change to a new system you know that there will be some kind of issues during the transition. Video King has been right there assisting in any way they can and helping us to Bel Air Bingo Console solve any problems as soon as possible. ■ How popular is Bingo: Bingo is where it all started here at Treasure Island, and it has remained popular with our guests since 1984. We have a great group of guests that attend Bingo on a regular basis. We have been working on the developing the younger audience, as well by doing promotions to make Bingo fun and exciting to that audience. ■ Given the choice of entertainment options, why do you think people enjoy Bingo: I believe Bingo is a great social entertainment experience. Our guests come here to enjoy the Bingo games, as well as have a chance to meet other guests and socialize with them. We have a lot of guests that have developed friendships, and they get together here for fun. ■ How big is the Bingo venue: Island Bingo seats 480 guests with the option to increase the seating to about 520 guests, by adding a few tables here and there throughout the hall. ■ Has it increased in popularity: I think the popularity of Bingo dropped for a period of time, but with the introduction of “Bingo Gone Wild” and the Cosmic Bingo sessions, I believe it is gaining popularity with the younger crowd. Treasure Island brings in celebrity guests to help with the “Bingo Gone Wild.” We have special appearances with our radio partners on specific nights, and it adds a whole new level of excitement for the guests. ■ What are the demographics: Our Bingo audience varies widely from the 50-plus group to the first timers, who are turning 18 and want something different to do that can be inexpensive and give them fun entertainment value for their dollar. ■ What are some of the more popular Bingo promotions: We have several promotions that have been very well-received, including trips, shopping sprees, smart TVs, designer hand bag Bingo, and most recently on New Year’s Eve, we gave away a new car to one lucky guest. These promotions proved to be highly successful and also brought in a larger audience to participate. ■ Describe your Bingo venue: Our Bingo hall has a great mix of smoking and non-smoking seats, as well as a concession stand we call “Blue Lagoon.” They serve everything from soups to sandwiches, fried food and salads. They also serve a select list of bottled beers for our guests. We have ball call/pattern monitors throughout the hall, so no matter where you sit you can see what ball is next, as well as two TriplePlay Flashboards and three digital Bonanza flashboards. Our caller desk is elevated so they can see the whole crowd as to not miss any Bingos.
■ How do you increase interest: We try to increase our attendance and interest by coming up with different promotions and new Bingo games. We have a great guest base that helps as well in telling us what they would like to see and play. We value their feedback, and they appreciate the fact that we listen to their ideas. ■ Any expansions or improvements: CHAMP-e Gaming Tablet We recently enlarged our non-smoking section and changed the location of the smoking and non-smoking sections. Now the caller, payout clerk, restaurant and the restrooms are in the non-smoking section. This has been a great hit with our guests. In January, we implemented a few new games and progressives to our Bingo program that we think will be a great addition to start off the new year. ■ How do Bingo managers/customers like Video King products: • The TriplePlay™ Flashboards: Our guests and team members alike think they are bright, crisp and easy to read and see. No burntout light bulbs to contend with any longer, so no one misses a number that has been called. • The CHAMP-e:™ We have had a lot of positive feedback with the CHAMP-e handsets. They are also crisp and clear with great graphics, and they are lighter than the Champ IIs, which is a plus. • The Bel Air™ Bingo console. The Bel Air is a great Bingo desk. It is very reliable and has a very good visual presentation. ■ What’s on your wish list: We are looking to add two more TriplePlay Flashboards to our Bingo hall, as well as trying to make it easier for our guests to The Lagoon get through the admission line.
gaming industry, nor its major “players.” Born and raised in Toronto, Sherwood, now 56 and a resident of Austin, Texas, has 32 years of gaming experience in both the slots and Bingo industry. “I began in gaming in 1985 with Bazaar & Novelty and continued in the “family” with Bingo King and Stuart Entertainment for 20 years,” he said of his association with the Stuarts, considered a Bingo dynasty for many decades. At one time, the late Len Stuart, founder, was Canada’s leading Bingo equipment supplier and a vendor of disposable Bingo cards to Bingo King in the states. After acquiring Bingo King, Stuart merged his U.S. operations, becoming the states’ leading Bingo equipment supplier. In 1991, the company was officially renamed Stuart Entertainment, his brother, Tim, said. In 2005, Sherwood joined Multimedia Games, eventually becoming Vice President of Sales for the Eastern United States and Canada. For the past two years, he has been Director of Sales and New Market Development with Bluberi Gaming Technologies. Sherwood received his Business Administration Diploma from Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technologies in Toronto, but says his measure of success is “having a home, family and friends.” As far as the future of Bingo, Sherwood foresees the game will continue to evolve. And, by the same token, the gaming industry in general. “I see players looking for more community-style games – quests for millennial, video gaming type products. Playing on tablets will be the next major direction of the slot machine,” he said. When he’s not immersed in gaming, Sherwood, a family man, likes to spend time with his wife, Barb, and two sons, Alec, 18, and Jack, 15, watching hockey and any sport their children are involved in.

And, as we have, with other staffers, he was game enough to play our “get-to-know-you game” we feature in various newsletters – as he preps for this new venture. So, here goes ... Sherwood considers the telephone the best invention ever. If he had the resources he’d invent a time machine. Like a true Canadian, his favorite TV show is “Hockey Night In Canada.” His favorite get-away is a Northern Ontario summer cottage, where he could enjoy his favorite drink, a Manhattan, favorite food, a T-bone steak. What he’s most proud of are their sons. The happiest day of his life is today. And his favorite movie is “Tommy Boy.” Asked why. “It’s Sales 101,” he said. “Never Give Up.” Yep, definitely the right man for the position. to purify the air, No Ozone, a highly toxic substance, which calls for closing off the room to occupants, is used. Equally important, the air exchange rate. To get healthier indoor air, you need to change the air in the room to clean it, according to the unit’s manufacturer. For improved quality air, they recommend 4 to 6 air exchanges per hour. For 325 square feet, you get 6 exchanges per hour with this unit. For 500 square feet, you get 4. And, more purifiers can always be added to extend or improve coverage. These are just some of the many benefits, according to Peggy Hansen, a regional sales manager for Video King, who has scouted various products to enhance our customers’ gaming experience. Manufactured in the United States since 2001, the Catalytic PUREAIR purifier can plug into any standard outlet, pulling .93 amps per unit. And, they require no installation. You just take it out of the box, plug it in, and begin to improve your indoor air quality, she said.

box, weighing 30 pounds and measuring 24”H x 24”W x 8”D in dimension. ■ The entire unit is guaranteed for two years, with the exception of the two filters and UV lamp. Based on normal usage, the $19 UV and $119 filter set need to be replaced once per year. Environments with heavier usage and occupancy, may need more frequent filter changes. Volume discounts may apply for the replacement filters. ■ Not only that, notably fast-acting, air quality improvements can be detected within the first hour of usage, according to the multitude of satisfied customers.

Side games that Video King offers are always on the wish list and may come to Island Bingo in the future. ■ Future plans: We always are looking at our program to make sure we have the very best games with the highest payouts. We will continue to always try and do this. ■ What are your best methods of advertising? Based on the message and the target audience, this will range from traditional newspapers and magazines to outdoor billboards, direct mail, radio partners or a variety of social media. These are all highly effective methods to reach our different audiences. ■ How do you incorporate social media: In Bingo we use Facebook to advertise and create excitement for some of our special events and Bingo Gone Wild. I believe it gets the word out to the younger crowd, as well as creating a buzz with certain events.

In the Class II market, there has never been an interactive Class II Video Poker game with the look, pay table and play action of a Las Vegas Video Poker game, until PokerNanza, a Class II game with all the attributes of a Class III game. Plus, it’s designed to be a multi-player, linked game, generating huge jackpots, in addition to the standard “Jacks Or Better” prize payouts and a Bingo prize payout.

So, bottom line, to attract players, the facility needs an authentic game. Like the players, the facility also desires a game with the capability that allows the player to throw away a winning hand, but for a different reason. The reason is profitability. While good players like the opportunity to better their hand and to increase their chances of winning a prize or a better prize, the house counts on players, who are not good players, players who make mistakes and play sub-optimally, to increase the facility’s profits. So, if a “Jacks Or Better” full-pay game is a 9/7 game, with a 97.5 percent theoretical payout, then poor play lowers the actual payout substantially, maybe to an actual payout of 92 percent or 90 percent, or even less.
This means the win for the house could increase from 2.5 percent to 8 percent or 10 percent or even more, equivalent to the win from some spinning reel games. In the Class II market, there has never been an interactive Class II Video Poker game with the look, pay table, and play action of a Las Vegas Video Poker game, until now! Meet PokerNanza®. It is a Class II game with all the attributes of a Class III game. It is Bingo, but looks, plays and pays like a Class III, Las Vegas Video Poker game. Plus, it has huge jackpots or progressives – in the tens of thousands of dollars – in addition to the standard “Jacks Or Better” prize payouts, and a Bingo prize payout. Additionally, it is interactive and designed to be linked between sites for multi-site, multi-player game play. And, it plays fast. Play of 300- to 500-plus hands per hour are achievable, depending on how good the players are at making card-playing decisions. Hardware wise, PokerNanza has been coupled with the latest tablet technology, the CHAMP-e™ gaming tablet by Video King.
■ 2016: Groundbreaking for an $86-million dollar addition and renovation is announced. The addition will include two new hotel towers for an additional 300 rooms, which also include new suites with floor to ceiling windows, an additional pool added to The Lagoon, new restaurants, new smoke-free casino and many renovations to the existing property, including the Buffalo Hotel Tower.

This hardware advance makes the game “player portable”’ and ideal for facility bars, buffets and Bingo halls, areas that are often underutilized. The game also has the necessary legal opinions, lab approvals and patents to support a facility’s regulator in the classification determination process. PokerNanza is a real win! For Bingo and Video Poker players, Indian Country and Bingo halls – anyone seeking to fill the need for a Class II Video Poker game. A Bingo game with a large existing player base.
